Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1147: Chapter 643: Kang Xin’s Esteem

”People from Paimon?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan: ”Bingo! Bruce from Paimon sent me an email asking when we’re going to the United States and wanted to discuss our itinerary.”

Zhou Yun: ”Then you discuss it with him, I’ll hang up first.”

”Okay.”

These are all work-related matters, and Zhou Yun never manages them.

With Zhou Lan’s usual approach, Zhou Yun definitely won’t lose out.

On set, Kang Xin also brought up the airing of ”Deep Sea.”

He asked, ”Was this drama filmed in October last year?”

”Yes.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”I didn’t expect their post-production to happen so quickly.”

Kang Xin said, ”That’s great. The current environment is not very stable, so if it can be aired soon, don’t delay it. Do you have a collaboration with Paimon? I heard that Paimon actively approached Yuehai to buy this drama.”

”No collaboration.” Zhou Yun shook his head, ”Actually, they were in charge of distributing ’Behind the Scenes’ in the United States, so we got to know each other. There wasn’t any more collaboration afterward. Do you know He Wenyun? She later collaborated with Paimon on a movie and a drama, both of which are big productions.”

”I’ve heard of this young girl.” Kang Xin nodded, ”She seemed to act with you in ’Deep Sea,’ right?”

”Yes.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”She did a great job.”

”Really? She hasn’t acted domestically before, has she?”

”No.” Zhou Yun shook his head, ”She filmed two projects in the United States before coming back to shoot ’Deep Sea.’ I was quite puzzled myself, not understanding why she wanted to return for ’Deep Sea.’ She starred in a Spielberg-directed film in the U.S., which is about to be released, and I heard it’s aiming for this year’s award season. Besides that, she also shot a commercial film playing a pretty important role. Her resources are much better than many of us who try to develop in Hollywood. The resources she can access there are abundant.”

”Over there, she’s ultimately still an outsider.” Kang Xin said, ”She can never be the lead there; Hollywood scripts always have Europeans and Americans as the main focus, and their main market is still domestic.”

”That’s what she also told me, but I think she’s doing pretty well now. The two works produced by Paimon set an Asian background, so she can play the lead female role.” Zhou Yun said, ”The roles she receives in Hollywood are much better than those I can access.”

Kang Xin said, ”That might not be the case in the future. If you can get nominated for a Golden Globe Award, it will greatly increase your visibility, especially in getting noticed by the higher-ups in Hollywood production companies. The campaign activities for the Oscars, an important part is about getting recognized in that circle.”

”Yes.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”I know, I will work hard.”

”Good luck, until now, I haven’t sold the U.S. broadcasting rights for ’Chen Yin.’ I’m counting on you to help increase their offer,” Kang Xin joked, although it wasn’t entirely a joke, ”Companies in Japan and Korea have already offered the highest price to buy broadcasting rights, but I’ve held off on Europe and America because I believe the quality of our drama can strive for a better offer.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”Director, if there’s anything you need me to do, just let me know.”

”Okay.” Kang Xin nodded, ”Oh, right, Xiao Yun, after you finish shooting ’Chen Yin,’ are you going to the United States?”

”Yes.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”After wrapping up, I plan to attend the promotional activities for ’Deep Sea’ and then fly to America. There are several important award ceremonies and events I need to participate in, yes, to make myself known there.”

”That’s great, we might be able to meet in the United States.” Kang Xin said, ”After I finish filming this drama, I also need to go to America. HM invited me over for an exchange.”

”That’s fantastic!” Zhou Yun, being quite perceptive, immediately asked, ”Director, is there a project over there looking to hire you?”

”I don’t know yet.” Kang Xin shook his head, ”It’s still uncertain.”

Indeed, for a director of Kang Xin’s caliber, he must have already caught the attention of American production companies, and invitations to collaborate must have been offered numerous times.”

Yet, Kang Xin has not filmed any projects in the United States so far, probably due to not finding a suitable one.

Collaboration projects are like this, it’s hard to find a suitable one among hundreds or thousands of projects, and even if the terms are agreeable, the project might not get the green light to commence, and even if it commences, it might not pass the screening committee, or the pilot could flop immediately.
