Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1113: Chapter 631: Losing Temper (Part 3)

”Director?” Liu Jun was stunned.

”The actor running away and all the previously shot materials going to waste—is that a minor issue?” Kang Xin’s tone was neither warm nor cold, and compared to Zhou Yun’s earlier anger, it seemed less severe. However, anyone witnessing Kang Xin’s current expression would not think he was letting this go lightly. ”Do you think it’s just a matter of replacing the actor and reshooting? With such a huge crew, so many people, how much time do I have left, how much time does Zhou Yun have left after this? Reshoot? Ha, who told you that if we reshoot, we’ll necessarily have the extra time needed?”

Liu Jun’s face turned unpleasant.

”In filming, there should be mutual respect and cooperation. No matter how poorly Xie Pinyuan acted, no one in the entire crew ever personally attacked him or said anything too unpleasant to him. And yet, he couldn’t take it? Wants to quit?” Kang Xin shook his head. ”Xiao Yun was right. Compared to Xie Pinyuan’s attitude, yours is more infuriating. He’s committed such a significant industry taboo, and yet you still defend him as if it’s nothing, asking us to compromise. What are we, nannies for your Sanfan Video?”

Liu Jun hurriedly shook his head. ”Director, please don’t say that; it really puts us to shame. We’re thrilled for this collaboration.”

Kang Xin waved a hand and said, ”No need to say more. Since that’s your attitude, we’ll proceed strictly on business terms. Whenever the shooting is to be completed, that’s the contract I signed with you. Because of your actor’s issue causing delays in finding a new actor and reshooting, any additional agreements should be renegotiated, and any additional compensation should be added. Any increased budget required due to delayed shooting, you need to work out yourselves.”

Before coming, Liu Jun did not expect Kang Xin and Zhou Yun to react so strongly. He originally thought that if he discussed this matter well, it would blow over. Who knew these two would be so unforgiving.

Liu Jun’s face turned black.

...

Quickly, the words of Zhou Yun and Kang Xin reached the ears of other actors on set.

While other actors were shocked by Kang Xin and Zhou Yun’s firm stance, only Cheng Shenlv seemed unsurprised, saying, ”I told you, Sister Xiao Yun wouldn’t let this matter go.”

”In the end, they’ll have to let it go. What else can they do?” Wen Yuling said. ”In this industry now, actors are weak compared to platforms. Even Zhou Yun has to compromise.”

”That’s not necessarily true. Right now, the platforms are the ones begging Zhou Yun to collaborate.”

”You’re too naive,” Wen Yuling said. ”Platforms want to work with Zhou Yun because her shows always become hits and are popular. But if Zhou Yun doesn’t give face to the platforms, do you think they can’t do without her? In this market, there are only a few big platforms. Which actor can sidestep them? Which actor can truly not care?”

Cheng Shenlv said, ”Even if Sister Xiao Yun doesn’t act in TV dramas, she has plenty of films she can do. Moreover, you all don’t know how much work Yuehai Network has done to mend relations with her.”

Wen Yuling still didn’t believe it.

Jin Lin said, ”Oh, there’s no way Sister Xiao Yun and Sanfan Video could really fall out. You’re overthinking it. This issue came from Xie Pinyuan. If Sister Xiao Yun is upset about it, would Sanfan Video refuse to work with her because of her anger? I heard that as long as a drama stars Sister Xiao Yun, advertisers come with money seeking cooperation. It’s different from other dramas. Sanfan Video wouldn’t go against advertisers. My agent said that every time platforms present their projects, advertisers always ask if Zhou Yun is starring.”

”That exaggerated?” Wen Yuling was a bit surprised.

”It’s not exaggerated at all. I heard about it myself not long ago. You see how popular ’Dragon Ascending’ and ’Linjiang Immortal’ are now? The combined ad revenue for those two series is still less than what ’Dingfengbo’ alone made a year ago,” Jin Ling said. ”Advertisers are especially drawn to Zhou Yun now and are willing to invest.”

”Why? Aren’t ’Dragon Ascending’ and ’Linjiang Immortal’ performing as well as ’Dingfengbo’?” Wen Yuling asked.

”No, but according to statistics from many brands, Zhou Yun has the strongest selling power,” Jin Lin explained. ”Furthermore, Zhou Yun’s main fan base includes university students and elite white-collar workers, which are the primary consumer groups for many brands. In simple terms, advertisers have their own formulas for calculation, and their data shows that investing in works starring Zhou Yun yields the highest conversion to actual purchase power.”

”Wow,” Wen Yuling said. ”I’ve never heard of such a thing.”
