Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1145: Chapter 642: New Developments (2)

...

After parting ways with Zhou Yun, Wen Yuling was somewhat indignant, saying, ”Zhou Yun’s attitude just now was way over the line, can you believe she judged me with that kind of thinking? She really is fearlessly arrogant. People were just saying she disrespects her seniors, and today she’s showing me this attitude. If you ask me, it’s completely normal for Yao Xing to be pissed because anyone would see this as offensive.”

Yu Sitian glanced at Wen Yuling, chuckled lightly, and said, ”Sister Yuling, what’s got you so worked up? Didn’t someone put you up to saying those things just now?”

Wen Yuling’s angry expression froze, she looked at Yu Sitian, frowned, and asked, ”What do you mean by that?”

Yu Sitian replied, ”I don’t mean anything, I’m just curious, so I thought I’d ask. But Sister Yuling, don’t be so harsh on me, I’m not Zhou Yun, I don’t have to worry about public image so much. Everyone knows I’m a celebrity with princess syndrome, and my fans like me for it. Even if you tell people I’m arrogant, they’re not going to be surprised. That’s how I am.”

Yu Sitian shrugged carelessly.

Her attitude left Wen Yuling fuming, yet Wen Yuling couldn’t say anything.

”Turns out you’re birds of a feather with Zhou Yun,” Wen Yuling could only retaliate verbally, refusing to back down.

”Don’t insult me, I’m not as foolish as her, letting people walk all over me without retaliating,” Yu Sitian said coldly, looking at Wen Yuling, ”Today at the restaurant door, you called me over and dragged me into this mess. If there’s no trouble, it’s fine. But if it causes me problems, Sister Yuling, I’m not as forgiving as Zhou Yun.”

She shot Wen Yuling a frosty glance, said nothing more, and walked away.

Wen Yuling stood there in disbelief, unable to snap back to reality for quite a while.

...

”If we haven’t mistaken, Yao Xing probably had someone ask Wen Yuling to say those things,” Zhou Lan said to Zhou Yun on the phone, ”Yao Xing was going around telling people in the circle you hadn’t been respecting her, and then the organizers issued a statement, which totally backfired on her. She’s now scrambling to save face, likely why she went to such lengths, hoping you’d respond and give her an out.”

”She’s dreaming,” Zhou Yun replied.

”Just ignore it,” Zhou Lan said, ”The buzz around this is also dying down, and Yao Xing’s reputation took a big hit because of it. Everyone is critical of her agent’s ambiguous response, accusing them of misleading folks into a negative view of you. Sure, she can say later that’s not what she meant, but the public’s goodwill toward her is already significantly reduced. Her halo as Movie Queen and seasoned actor has dimmed a lot too. She brought this on herself.”

”Yeah,” Zhou Yun said, ”Anyway we shouldn’t respond any further about this. You’re right—more talk, more mistakes.”

”Yeah,” Zhou Lan said, ”There’s still a few things I need to discuss with you. One is that in January, we need to go to the United States. There’s the Sundance Film Festival and the Golden Ball awards ceremony. The Golden Ball ceremony is at the end of January, so we need to stay until the end of the month. For the ’Female Assassin’ training, I’ve arranged for a stunt director from New Shield to accompany us throughout, and we’ll pay him an additional allowance of fifteen thousand, plus we’ll cover his meals, accommodations, and transportation.”

”No problem, let’s cover those expenses from my account. No need to use the company funds,” Zhou Yun said, ”It’s costs incurred to accommodate my schedule.”

Zhou Lan was blunt, agreeing right away.

”By the way, has Xiao Jing been in the United States lately?” Zhou Yun asked.

”Yes, she’s over there with Mr. You Jiang, doing publicity for ’Behind the Scenes.’ I’m also helping her explore some Hollywood scripts. Hollywood’s going big on political correctness now, adding a lot of Asian roles in scripts. If there’s something suitable for Xiao Jing, I think pursuing an international path early could really benefit her future career. I have a hunch that our domestic market has reached a saturated point. As it gets busier here, our country’s film production companies will likely look to expand like those in Hollywood, aiming to grow their box office reach. If Xiao Jing and others can go international early, they’ll be better positioned amidst others at home to take advantage.”
