Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1144: Chapter 642: New Developments

Zhou Yun was having breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

She was eating a boiled egg when she saw Yu Sitian and Wen Yuling approaching together.

Their eyes met, and Yu Sitian and Wen Yuling sat down across from her.

”Xiao Yun, you’re up so early,” Wen Yuling said with a smile.

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”It’s alright.”

Yu Sitian looked at Zhou Yun with a hesitant expression, as if she was considering Wen Yuling’s presence.

Wen Yuling said with a cheerful smile, ”Yesterday was really lively, but fortunately, the official statement came out last night, otherwise you would have been unjustly accused, Xiao Yun.”

Zhou Yun: ”The truth is what it is, Sister Yuling, you see me every day, you know what kind of person I am better than anyone.”

”Yes, of course, I know you’re not like what the internet says, Xiao Yun, but I’ve seen so many people demonized by the internet,” Wen Yuling sighed, ”I was worried yesterday, thinking if public opinion becomes too strong and you have no way to prove your innocence, what could be done? Nowadays, with the internet, the truth is hard to clarify, and no matter what the truth is, some people will only believe their version of it.”

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”Sister Yuling, you see it clearly.”

”But, Xiao Yun, with the official statement last night, you’ve completely offended Yao Xing,” Wen Yuling said with concern, ”Do you know Yao Xing? I’ve heard she’s quite meticulous about everything.”

Zhou Yun: ”I don’t know her well, but she can do whatever she wants. From start to finish, I haven’t said nor done anything—it was her who was dissatisfied, unhappy, uncooperative, and eventually had a conflict with the director’s team. If she wants to blame it on me, what can I do?”

Wen Yuling seemed surprised by Zhou Yun’s indifferent attitude.

”Xiao Yun, you can’t put it that way. There’s an old saying, ’Better to reconcile than to make enemies.’ There wasn’t any real conflict between you and Yao Xing. Why not think of a way to defuse the situation?” Wen Yuling said, ”Regardless, she’s a senior, and if you’re willing to give her a way out, I’m sure she’ll take it.”

Zhou Yun thoughtfully glanced at Wen Yuling.

Wen Yuling smiled and asked, ”Do you think what I said makes sense?”

Zhou Yun didn’t speak.

She was silent for two seconds, then a faint smile appeared on her face.

”Sister Yuling, did someone ask you to tell me this?”

Wen Yuling was taken aback.

”Xiao Yun, don’t misunderstand, no one asked me to say this to you. I just suddenly thought of it and wanted to tell you. If it upset you, just pretend I never said it.”

”I’m not upset, I just find it strange,” Zhou Yun looked at Wen Yuling, ”You said you were worried yesterday about me being smeared and attacked by online public opinion, but before today, I hadn’t gotten any concern or comfort from you. On the contrary, now that the official statement has proven it had nothing to do with me, you suddenly ask me to give Yao Xing a way out—what kind of way out should I give? One that slaps me in my own face or slaps the organizer’s face?”

Wen Yuling’s face turned pale.

Yu Sitian suddenly laughed.

”Let me explain, I just ran into Sister Yuling at the restaurant entrance, and she dragged me in to eat with her,” Yu Sitian shrugged, ”I’m not involved in what she said.”

Implication being, she didn’t participate in what Wen Yuling was discussing.

Wen Yuling became a bit anxious.

”No, Sitian, why are you suddenly saying this? Do you also think I came here on purpose to say these things to Xiao Yun? Don’t you know what kind of person I am?”

Wen Yuling looked at Zhou Yun somewhat exasperatedly, ”Don’t misunderstand, I care about you; it’s just that everyone felt awkward about approaching you, afraid of causing more trouble.”

”Mhmm,” Zhou Yun nodded, ”I accept this explanation, Sister Yuling, it’s okay. I’m not blaming you; I’m just worried you might have been used by someone.”

Wen Yuling forced a smile at the corners of her mouth and said, ”How could that be? I really just thought of those words myself and wanted to say them to you. It’s truly a case of good intentions leading to a bad outcome.”

”Let’s eat,” Zhou Yun said, ”the food’s going to get cold if we don’t.”
