Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1130: Chapter 637: The Meaning of Being an Idol (Part 2)

She suddenly noticed the way Jin Lin looked at Huang Zicheng.

As a woman, she naturally understood the looks women gave each other better.

Zhou Yun only needed a few glances to know for sure that Jin Lin liked Huang Zicheng. That look was different.

In the process, Zhou Yun’s eyes met Cheng Shenlv’s.

With just one look, Zhou Yun knew, and Cheng Shenlv knew too.

Cheng Shenlv smiled somewhat awkwardly, evidently understanding Zhou Yun’s expression as well.

Kang Xin suddenly said, ”There’s something I want to tell you all.”

”Hmm?” Zhou Yun snapped back to reality, looking at Director Kang.

Kang Xin said, ”Next February, we’ve been invited to participate in the National Drama Festival with the Chen Yin crew. We’re hoping everyone can keep their schedules open to attend this event. A lot of leaders from the broadcasting bureau will be attending. Supporting their event will help with the future airing of our show.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun nodded, the first to say, ”Alright, no problem. But has the exact date been set? It’d be great to know early, so I can have my agent keep that day free.”

”The specific day hasn’t been set yet, but it should be confirmed next week. Once it’s determined, I’ll let Zhao Lan notify your agents immediately,” Kang Xin said. ”Additionally, the network wants this series to air during next year’s summer vacation. I think it’s a great timing, but the airing date is still confidential for now, so don’t mention it to outsiders.”

”Okay.” Everyone nodded.

All of a sudden, Chen Jing remembered something and asked, ”Director, can we wrap up filming next month?”

”Yes.” Kang Xin nodded, ”We’re still on schedule. Zuo Bin will join the crew tomorrow, and according to our shooting plan, the series will wrap up a week later than initially predicted.”

”That’s good.” Chen Jing let out a sigh of relief, saying, ”I was worried it might be delayed by more than two weeks, which wouldn’t be good.”

”Why? Do you have other projects lined up?” Kang Xin asked.

”No.” Chen Jing shook his head, ”I’ve arranged other work, something very important.”

An actor like Chen Jing, with star roles already aired and notoriety, having Ning Yao backing him for resources, wouldn’t be short of job opportunities.

Opportunities seen as rare by other actors are mundane and easily acquired by Chen Jing.

So when Chen Jing mentioned that the work was important, it piqued everyone’s curiosity about what it was.

A couple of days later, Chen Jing had to take leave, and only then did everyone know he was going to attend this year’s Spring Festival Gala. Indeed, he took leave to go to rehearsal.

For celebrities in China, the Spring Festival Gala holds a different significance.

Almost all top-tier celebrities in China have appeared on the Spring Festival Gala.

To this day, Zhou Yun still hadn’t been.

Originally, she was invited this year, but Zhou Yun was simply too busy with work to coordinate it, so she had declined.

Within the Chen Yin crew, Chen Jing was the only one going to the Spring Festival Gala this year.

Once the news broke, many were envious.

In reality, in any film crew, there are always some actors who aren’t as famous or even relatively unknown.

Their efforts are no less than others, their commitment to roles just as deep, yet they never become famous.

Compared to actors like Chen Jing, who started off smoothly, their career paths aren’t as easy.

Consequently, they tend to envy the ”lucky ones” like Chen Jing even more.

Wen Yuling is actually an actor who fought her way to recognition.

She isn’t exactly unrecognized; after years of acting, she has achieved some notoriety and established her position in the industry.

However, compared to Chen Jing, she clearly isn’t as ”fortunate.”

Without a big shot like Ning Yao to support her, every role she played was earned on her own merits.

Even her current agency only extended an olive branch after she gained some fame.

Comparatively, everyone in the crew seems luckier than her.

The only person a bit less fortunate than Wen Yuling is Jin Lin.

But Wen Yuling also looks down on Jin Lin, thinking of her as a completely unambitious kid who wouldn’t have been noticed by Kang Xin if not for her acting talent.

”Sometimes, when you think about it, it really makes you wonder what your hard work counts for,” Wen Yuling said to an older actress in the crew, who was in her forties, with a sense of lamentation, ”Look at us, working hard for so long to be where we are now, compared to Cheng Shenlv, Chen Jing, Yu Sitian, it feels like a joke. Today’s young people, either backed by big companies or influential figures, are all well-connected. The opportunities we treasure aren’t considered opportunities at all by them, right?”
