Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1146: Chapter 642: New Developments_3

Zhou Yun understood Zhou Lan’s intention.

Zhou Lan is predicting that Chinese-language films will soon follow the path of Hollywood movies. Actually, this is not surprising, as the domestic box office market has already reached a global top level. However, Chinese films can only earn box office revenue domestically, and they struggle abroad. But this doesn’t mean they will give up on international markets. Anyone doing business will not abandon a vast market; they will continuously study the market and then adjust and optimize their products.

If actors like Wang Jing and Yuk Chu can make a name for themselves in the Europe and America markets, when domestic film companies truly begin strategically expanding overseas, they will likely prioritize using Wang Jing and Yuk Chu in their films.

Star power is effective in any market.

Zhou Yun thought, Zhou Lan’s foresight is quite advanced. What about the others?

How are other actors and agents considering this?

After ending the call with Zhou Lan, Zhou Yun suddenly felt a sense of impending storm.

It seems that a grand era is about to unfold.

...

That night, several film bloggers released news from the American ”Hollywood Report”: A powerful Chinese actress will participate in HM’s major production, the fantasy drama ”Black Forest” directed by Swank Brussels, playing the role of a witch.

As soon as the news was released, many people began speculating who this powerful Chinese actress might be.

Zhou Yun, Wei Ru Xue, Ning Yao, Yin Lin, Wang Jing, and others were all speculated upon.

Yu Sitian asked her on WeChat: Is it you who’s going to act in ”Black Forest”?

Zhou Yun replied: It’s not me.

Yu Sitian: Do you know who it is?

Zhou Yun said: I know, but I can’t say, she hasn’t made it public yet.

Yu Sitian: Alright, as long as it’s not you.

Zhou Yun asked: Why?

Yu Sitian: This drama approached me before, asking me to play one of the witch roles, but I turned it down. If you took it, I would regret having declined the drama.

Zhou Yun asked: You turned it down? Why?

Yu Sitian: The filming schedule is too long, and they wanted me to sign contracts for several seasons at once. I don’t want to be tied down to this drama.

Many American TV shows are like that. If they’re not intended as limited series from the start, they often shoot four, five, six, or seven seasons.

As long as they’re popular and continue to make money, they keep filming more.

But ”Black Forest” actually approached Yu Sitian?

Is it the role Jiang Yuzhen is going to play?

But there’s quite an age gap between them. Does it not matter? Or does the role not have any age restrictions?

The discussion about ”Black Forest” heated up for a while. Before the actress’s identity was revealed, Paimon announced a collaboration with Chinese Yuehai Network to produce a web series ”Flowering Period,” starring He Wenyun as the female lead and Liang Yuanpu as the male lead. The cast also includes Chinese actress Yin Lin, Fan Zhu, Japanese actress Nakajima Hoto, and Korean actor Kim Fancheng, making it a major production with a glamorous cast.

Zhou Yun was astonished.

He Wenyun really seems to be enjoying a fruitful collaboration with Paimon, moving from one project to the next.

Following this, Paimon also announced they had acquired the broadcasting rights for the Chinese drama ”Deep Sea” for Europe and America, and it would be simultaneously released on their streaming platform and Yuehai Network in two weeks.

No one at Yuehai informed Zhou Yun about this news.

Along with this news, the official trailer for ”Deep Sea” was released that afternoon.

Xu Jinbo contacted Zhou Lan, informing her that Yuehai and Paimon planned to hold a press conference the day before the premiere and wanted to invite Zhou Yun, requesting her schedule.

In fact, two weeks later, the show ”Chen Yin” was also set to wrap up filming, so Zhou Yun’s schedule was okay.

Zhou Lan didn’t immediately agree, instead saying, ”Producer Xu, why is this drama suddenly being broadcast together with Paimon?”

”We were surprised too; Paimon reached out on their own to buy the broadcasting rights,” Xu Jinbo said. ”They were very generous with their offer, which caught us off guard.”

Having obtained information from Xu Jinbo, Zhou Lan went to discuss it with Zhou Yun.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun suddenly thought of something.

”Paimon is probably interested in the recent popularity of ’Behind the Scenes’ and my rising fame in the United States, so they bought the broadcasting rights for ’Deep Sea.’ After all, ’Deep Sea’ just happens to air in January,” Zhou Yun said. ”And I’ll be going to the United States in January too, right?”

Suddenly, Zhou Lan made a surprised sound on the other end.

Zhou Lan: ”Wow, Xiao Yun, guess whose email I just received?”
