Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1102: Chapter 628: The Long Phone Call

”Su Yan had an abortion?”

Zhou Yun exclaimed in surprise.

”Really?”

”I heard it from someone else, not sure if it’s true.” On the phone, Zhou Lan shared the news she had gathered with Zhou Yun, ”I heard that Yang Xi was pushed by Su Yan at the ’Victor’ event because she talked about this behind her back, and Su Yan found out and bore a grudge.”

Zhou Yun: ”I’ve never heard this news. Regardless of whether it’s true or not, if Yang Xi really spread this rumor, I can understand why Su Yan would want to push her.”

”Who wouldn’t? After this news spread, the voices that originally supported Yang Xi all turned against her.” Zhou Lan said, ”Everyone agrees on one thing: every person has their secrets. It’s one thing if the paparazzi expose them, but among celebrities, there should be a consensus not to stab each other in the back. Everyone is human, with emotions and desires, and has done things they regret. Yet, this industry demands that artists be morally perfect saints. Most of the time, artists can only create a public image through disguise. It’s a widely accepted fact that while we can criticize Su Yan for being fake, for having rivalry with Lew Qingqing, or exposing her seemingly friendly relationship with Xu Siyao, her personal affairs, especially something as private as an abortion, should not be disclosed. Protecting her personal affairs is protecting ours as well.”

Zhou Lan told Zhou Yun: ”Now, at least among our circle of agents, the tide has turned in favor of Su Yan. Yang Xi’s actions have violated most people’s principles.”

”Did she...” Zhou Yun asked, ”Did Yang Xi leak it to the media?”

”She didn’t leak it to the media, but she told at least five people at that event that night.” Zhou Lan said, ”Someone has already come forward to testify. Su Yan’s accusation is not unfounded.”

Zhou Yun understood.

So there’s more to this story than meets the eye.

”So what happens now?” Zhou Yun asked curiously. ”No matter what, Su Yan did cause Yang Xi to fall off the stage. Luckily, she wasn’t hurt, but still, wasn’t it malicious intent from Su Yan?”

”Of course it was malicious. I don’t know what will happen next between them, but that’s not our concern.” Zhou Lan said, ”Recently, because ’Linjiang Immortal’ is airing, Su Yan is quite popular and attracts a lot of attention. Just like with Yang Xi, many are envious of her. If this hadn’t happened, envy would remain just envy. Few would dare to outright challenge her status, but now the situation is different. There could be a collective backlash.”

”Didn’t you say everyone is on Su Yan’s side?”

”In the matter between Su Yan and Yang Xi, everyone is on Su Yan’s side. The criticism is directed at Yang Xi. That doesn’t mean no one would target Su Yan for other reasons.” Zhou Lan explained.

”Huh?” Zhou Yun looked bewildered, ”Why is it so complicated?”

Zhou Lan: ”Because human nature is inherently complex.”

”Sister Lan, do you think there will be a day when I face a similar situation?” Zhou Yun said with a smile, ”Speaking of attracting attention, no one does it more than I do, right?”

”Indeed.” Zhou Lan said, ”But, Xiao Yun, you don’t need to worry about these things. You have a very strong team, and we will nip any crisis in the bud. Moreover, you are not someone with the extreme personality of Su Yan or Yang Xi; you are the most calm and self-possessed artist I have ever met. I’ve told you this many times before, and it’s not just because you’re my artist. It’s what I truly believe. There’s an old saying you should trust: if you conduct yourself properly, you won’t fear ghosts knocking at midnight.”

Zhou Yun responded with an acknowledgment.

”Am I just being overly anxious then?”

”Not exactly. Having a sense of crisis is better than being a complete optimist. At least we have worries, fears, and boundaries.” Zhou Lan said, ”You know that Lew Qingqing and the director of ’Heart Palpitating’ are together, right? They’re not actually in a relationship; it’s just a ploy to create buzz for the drama, to attract attention.”

”What?” Zhou Yun was utterly astonished.
