Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1139: Chapter 640: Black-on-Black (Part 2)

Zhou Yun: ”So what do you suggest I do?”

Yu Sitian hesitated for a moment.

”Me? I don’t intend to suggest anything to you.” Yu Sitian straightened up, placing her hands on her hips, ”I’m just reminding you not to stumble.”

Returning from the gym to her room, Zhou Yun went to the bathroom to take a shower, her mind pondering over Yu Sitian’s words.

She had a feeling that Yu Sitian seemed to be hinting at something.

Was it Yao Xing who found a few people, preparing to use her as a target to attack the current market’s disregard for older actors?

According to Yu Sitian, it seemed to mean just that.

But whether that’s really the case is unknown.

After showering, Zhou Yun came out and called Zhou Lan to recount what Yu Sitian had said to her at the gym just now.

”Yu Sitian approached you to say these things on her own?” Zhou Lan asked surprised.

”Yes.”

”Yao Xing is indeed looking for some people. Friends who are familiar have heard the wind and called to alert me about this matter. Don’t worry, in half an hour, the official blog from the last ceremony will issue a clarification statement, explaining that the division of segments you were responsible for was the director team’s decision. Also, Yao Xing’s absence from the poetry reading segment was also due to the director team’s arrangement, having nothing to do with you. After the official statement is released, I think those people Yao Xing found will not tread into this muddy water anymore. Everyone’s in this circle; no one would foolishly be stirred by a few words from Yao Xing.”

”I guess Yu Sitian heard some wind. She knows more people in the film circle than we do, as she entered the industry years before us,” Zhou Yun said. ”I feel like I should express my stance before the official blog releases a statement.”

”What do you want to say?”

”I want to firmly tell everyone that I never seize others’ opportunities to highlight myself, and there’s absolutely no such thing as acting like a big shot or disrespecting industry seniors,” Zhou Yun said. ”Staying silent all this time isn’t quite fitting with my previous style. The official attitude is the official attitude; my attitude is my attitude. Sister Lan, what do you think?”

”You make sense saying that. My concern is that no matter what you say, there’ll always be someone nitpicking your words. Like, if you say like you just did, someone will definitely question whether you stole Yao Xing’s lines.”

”I’ll just reply that I didn’t.”

”Alright, then the second question: Is it because of you that Yao Xing didn’t appear in the poetry reading segment?” Zhou Lan asked again.

Zhou Yun said: ”No.”

Zhou Lan: ”What if Yao Xing steps up right now and says it was because of you that she withdrew from the poetry reading segment? What then? She wouldn’t be wrong in saying that; it wouldn’t be a lie.”

”There were so many people present that day; who doesn’t know the truth?”

”Yu Sitian also knows the truth. I found it surprising that she would remind you privately. Did you see her speaking for you online?”

”Speaking for me would definitely mean offending Yao Xing, so she definitely wouldn’t.”

”That’s exactly it. Even the organizers wouldn’t publicly expose the fact that Yao Xing was removed by the director team due to non-cooperation,” Zhou Lan said. ”If the organizers admitted to this, it constitutes a fact of not respecting the performing guests. The person was invited by the organizer, yet their performance was removed after coming. Even if it was due to Yao Xing’s non-cooperation, this matter has too many debatable points. Both sides can argue their case, forming no definite conclusion, impacting the organizer as well.”

Zhou Yun understood what Zhou Lan meant.

The truth is, the organizers also bear a lot of responsibility in this matter; they must tread carefully to avoid backlash.

Zhou Yun: ”Too many concerns, and ultimately, nothing can be said, nothing can be done.”

”Actually, in this matter, the best is to have actors you’ve worked with speak for you, proving what kind of person you are usually. The more people speak up to say these things, saying how you are typically, the more the slander against you would be impacted, especially with senior collaborators,” Zhou Lan said. ”The statements and support from Mr. You Jiang and Jiang Yuzhen have made many in the circle doubtful of Yao Xing’s stance. It’s because You Jiang and Jiang Yuzhen themselves have connected and are known to many within the circle. People are familiar with them; if they say such things, people will believe it.”
