Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1131: Chapter 637: The Meaning of an Idol (Part 3)

The actress in her forties gave a smile but didn’t respond.

Wen Yuling didn’t mind and continued, ”In this industry, only a minority ever gets the chance to stand out, and some people stand out right from the start. How about you? When did you start acting?”

The actress in her forties replied, ”Me? I’ve been acting for many years now.”

”Do you ever feel unwilling at times?”

”No, I’m quite content. I’ve acted for so many years and still get roles; there’s no reason to feel unwilling.”

”Really?” Wen Yuling seemed skeptical about her contentment, ”Haven’t you ever thought that one day you’d become really famous?”

”I thought about it when I was young, but not anymore, it’s pointless.” She said candidly, ”Being famous isn’t something you can control by yourself.”

”Do you want to play leading roles?”

”Of course, who doesn’t want to be the lead? But if I play the lead, the movie won’t sell.” She said with a generous spirit, ”If it doesn’t sell, there won’t be an audience to watch. Without an audience, playing the lead is for nothing; no one sees me as the lead.”

”...”

Wen Yuling suddenly found that the other person’s words made sense, and she couldn’t argue against them.

Wen Yuling’s dissatisfaction and complaints can actually be understood, but sometimes we have to admit one thing, which is the harshness of fate—some people are born more attractive, luckier, get better opportunities, and develop better.

If you keep your eyes on those who are better than you, you either have the ability to chase and surpass them, or you need to adjust your mindset honestly. Otherwise, you’ll turn into a constant complainer.

Zhou Yun has been lucky enough and strong enough, but if we reflect honestly, can another person walk Zhou Yun’s path and become another Zhou Yun?

Maybe not.

Even if this person has rumored scandals with Song Chi like Zhou Yun, how long can she remain famous?

Back then, wasn’t He Yong convinced she wouldn’t stay popular for long and hence aimed to make a quick buck?

Would this person, when Zhou Lan recommended Wen Bing, the advertisement director, be willing to act in an art film with low production by a new director when she was at peak fame? Or would she be willing to accept Wen Bing’s invitation again after being rejected once? Or, since you rejected me once, why should I agree to your invitation?

If she didn’t act in ”Life,” would Shi Luoqi still notice her and make her the protagonist in ”Falling Leaves”?

If she became the protagonist of ”Falling Leaves,” would she then dare to take the risk when Xue Qin whimsically decided to shoot ”Behind the Scenes”?

What makes a person successful is not often about how powerful they are, but every choice they make.

Zhou Yun is Zhou Yun because of herself, not merely due to simple luck or supposed talent.

Of course, there are plenty who say if it wasn’t for the scandals with Song Chi, she might not have risen to fame in five years.

But then can anyone confidently say that even with Song Chi’s help in becoming famous, she could reach Zhou Yun’s position?

Zhou Yun is Zhou Yun because of herself; she never shies away from talking about how she became famous.

She dares to frankly admit that her achievements now are not entirely due to herself. But how many people can openly admit that their entire life depends solely on themselves, not others?

Cheng Shenlv greatly admires Zhou Yun.

Because even at her level, her temperament and anger never target junior actresses, staff, or colleagues. When she gets mad, you know something is genuinely excessive. When she’s cold-faced, you know it’s not directed at you, so you can be at ease.

She doesn’t hypocritically create a down-to-earth image. She’s never distanced herself from this world.

Cheng Shenlv often feels regretful about some past actions and thoughts because meeting Zhou Yun made her realize with surprise the kind of actress she wants to be.

It may be a bit idealistic, but this is perhaps the meaning of having idols.

So, Cheng Shenlv doesn’t hesitate and can directly tell Jin Lin, ”I feel Sister Xiao Yun has figured out your feelings; your feelings for Huang Zicheng.”

Jin Lin was shocked, ”Would Sister Xiao Yun be angry?”

”Why would she be angry?” Cheng Shenlv asked in surprise, ”Do you think Huang Zicheng is her junior, and she doesn’t want Huang Zicheng to date?”

”I...I’m not sure, feels a bit scary.”

”Afraid of what? She won’t care about this matter at all.” Cheng Shenlv said confidently, ”Whether you and Huang Zicheng are together or not, she won’t interfere.”
