Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1143: Chapter 641: Official Statement_3

Zhou Yun: ”Isn’t Su Yan good enough?”

”How could she be?” Zhou Lan said, ”She’s not there yet, she can’t get a share of the profits.”

”I thought since ’Linjiang Immortal’ is so popular, she surely could get a share.”

”Xiao Yun, I told you, not every drama she’s in is a hit.” Zhou Lan said, ”Even Xu Siyao is better in this regard; none of Xu Siyao’s dramas have ever flopped.”

”So, according to you, if Su Yan goes into other genres, people might not accept it?”

”Right, they won’t.” Zhou Lan said, ”Do you know what’s being said in the industry now? That Su Yan can only win audiences over by acting in historical dramas, and no major modern productions are approaching her because the platforms don’t approve.”

Zhou Yun really hadn’t expected that even though Su Yan was so popular, she would still face this situation.

”If Su Yan doesn’t necessarily have to be in major productions, then she can of course pick freely. She can choose from ninety percent of the dramas on the market because she’s popular now, but the really suitable and worthwhile good dramas for her are basically in the remaining ten percent.”

Zhou Yun understood.

Zhou Lan: ”So, you know? Sometimes I even hope you don’t take on so many dramas, because if one fails, your undefeated myth will be broken.”

”Wouldn’t that be missing the forest for the trees?”

”Yeah.” Zhou Lan said, ”That’s why I’m just thinking about it.”

Zhou Yun smiled.

”Let’s not stray too far; the official statement has been released. Let’s see how Yao Xing responds next. But no matter what, the public opinion has completely turned around now. Get a good rest tonight; you have to shoot early tomorrow morning, right?”

”Right.”

”Then I’ll hang up.”

”Bye, good night.”

Zhou Yun put down the phone.

Today’s official statement was still a bit surprising to her.

Could the organizers really be so biased towards her?

Zhou Yun turned off the lights, lay down in bed, and covered herself with the blanket, suddenly recalling the last thing Song Chi said to her over the phone.

He said he was going to communicate and negotiate with the people on the organizer’s side about the matter.

Could it be that Song Chi said something to them?

Zhou Yun widened her eyes in surprise.

...

”Damn it, how can they blatantly say that I wasn’t cooperating with the director’s team? Are they saying I’m throwing a tantrum?” While Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan were breathing a sigh of relief, the other protagonist of this incident, Yao Xing, was fuming with anger over the official statement, furious, she vented to her agent over the phone, ”How could you let them release such a statement?”

The agent said helplessly, ”I didn’t see it coming. I’ve been negotiating with the director’s team all day, and they kept saying they wouldn’t mention us, but who knew they’d pull this trick in the end.”

”So they didn’t have any explanation?” Yao Xing said, ”I’ve been in the game for this long, they sold me out, and they don’t even need to give me an explanation?”

The agent hesitated for a moment and said, ”Xingxing, calm down for a bit. The director’s team did give me a heads up. They released the statement following orders from higher-ups.”

”Orders from higher-ups?” Yao Xing frowned suddenly, ”What orders from higher-ups?”

”They said... to be truthful. Young talents with virtues and skills need to be well protected,” said the agent.

Yao Xing: ”What?”

”All in all, this is beyond what we can discuss further. Xingxing, to be honest, we’re at fault here, too. Of course, I understand why you said those things, you weren’t targeting Zhou Yun, you were targeting the current trend. But now the higher-ups want to protect Zhou Yun. As you know, she’s currently the most outstanding of the younger generation and has made it internationally, bringing a lot of honor to Chinese-language films. Even the film bureau boasts about her as a highlight in nurturing young actors in their materials. As long as it’s not a matter of principle, nothing will happen to her.”

Yao Xing was so angry her jaw trembled, but having been in the industry for so long, she naturally understood that if the higher-ups had made up their minds, she had to weigh the consequences before making any moves.
