Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1112: Chapter 631: Outburst (Part 2)

”I just don’t know what we’ll do if he doesn’t come back to the crew,” Cheng Shenlv said. ”Will the crew hold him legally accountable?”

”In this kind of situation, both parties would likely negotiate, right? Xie Pinyuan is an actor heavily promoted by Sanfan Video, and since our drama is also produced and invested in by Sanfan Video, I guess it won’t come to that,” Jin Lin said.

Cheng Shenlv: ”You don’t know, Sister Xiao Yun dislikes irresponsible and unprofessional behavior from actors the most. A lack of skill is okay, so long as you take it seriously. She’ll be strict with you but won’t say more. With Xie Pinyuan acting like this, I reckon Sister Xiao Yun will explode.”

”Huh?” Jin Lin looked surprised. ”Really?”

Cheng Shenlv nodded.

...

Since filming ”Under the Grand Dress” with Zhou Yun, Cheng Shenlv has considered herself to have developed a fair understanding of Zhou Yun.

Remembering what Zhou Yun did in the ”Under the Grand Dress” crew, she held no optimistic view of Xie Pinyuan’s future situation.

Zhou Yun would definitely come forward to condemn this behavior.

Just as Cheng Shenlv predicted, Zhou Yun exploded on the set upon learning about this incident.

”Withdrawing from the role? He’s quitting after so long?” Zhou Yun slammed her stainless steel cup heavily onto the table, producing a ”clang” sound. ”What’s the deal? Didn’t he have a grasp of the situation when he accepted this role? He thought he could do it initially, then realised halfway that he couldn’t? Is this how he treats the profession of an actor? Are we all here to play house with him?”

The producer sent by Sanfan Video, Liu Jun, quickly tried to calm her down, saying: ”Xiao Yun, simmer down. Don’t get all worked up over it; it’s not worth it. But, I’ve also watched some of Xiao Xie’s previous performances, and honestly, I didn’t think his acting would be so cringeworthy. Him quitting might actually be a good thing; otherwise, it would have been like a bad apple spoiling a good pie for our drama.”

Though Kang Xin’s company is leading the production, Sanfan Video is the major investor and also the producer, so by industry norms, this producer named Liu Jun represents Sanfan Video’s stance.

Kang Xin’s company handles the executional role.

In other productions, a platform producer usually holds the utmost authority.

However, Liu Jun cannot flaunt such privilege in the ”Chen Yin” production.

The director is Kang Xin; the lead is Zhou Yun. With big names on both sides, Liu Jun can only offer soothing words.

Glaring at Liu Jun, Zhou Yun said: ”Liu Jun, wasn’t Xie Pinyuan recommended by your Sanfan Video to act in this drama? This is your production. Now because your recommended actor quits, everything shot before can’t be used—and we don’t know who to cast afterwards. How do you account for the wasted time?”

Liu Jun awkwardly replied: ”Xiao Yun, I assure you, we will find the best replacement as fast as possible.”

”Then what about Xie Pinyuan?” Zhou Yun asked. ”He nobly quits halfway through, pats his bottom, and walks away just like that?”

Liu Jun said: ”This guy is still new, just started out, doesn’t understand the conventions. We’re upset too, but he’s still a kid. Some things take time to teach. If we truly pursue his liabilities and blow this up, the kid’s reputation in the industry will be ruined.”

”If he’s worried about his reputation, why doesn’t he come back to finish the role?” Zhou Yun asked directly.

Liu Jun: ”It’s just that his capability really doesn’t measure up.”

”Ha,” Zhou Yun spread her hands, ”Liu Jun, since you’re determined to protect this actor, I have nothing more to say—I’m just too disappointed in your stance. I’ll put it plainly, I signed for a certain shoot schedule, I’ll film for that period, not a day more. Do what you want!”

With that, she stood up swiftly, grabbed her cup, and left.

Zheng Xiaojue hurriedly followed.

”Xiao Yun, Xiao Yun!” Liu Jun evidently didn’t expect Zhou Yun to be so furious; he couldn’t stop her despite calling out frantically. Turning to Kang Xin and Qin Zhaolan, he said, ”Director, Zhao Lan, what kind of trouble is this? We didn’t want this to happen either, why is Xiao Yun so hot-headed about it? Ah...”

Kang Xin glanced at Liu Jun, lowering his gaze to the table, sighed, and said, ”You think Xiao Yun’s temper is bad? Ha, you don’t realize she’s expressing this anger on my behalf.”
