Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1108: Chapter 630: Stunned

”Huang Zicheng, how are you going back?”

Jin Lin turned around and asked.

After the dinner gathering ended, they were all returning to their hotel for rest.

Knowing they would drink, many had not driven, and the crew arranged transport for Kang Xin and Zhou Yun, but no one cared for small actors like Jin Lin and Huang Zicheng.

Huang Zicheng said, ”I’ll call a taxi.”

Jin Lin was about to suggest sharing a taxi suddenly, Xie Pinyuan called out to Jin Lin, asking, ”Want to join me?”

Jin Lin looked at Xie Pinyuan in surprise.

”My driver is coming to pick me up, but there’s only one seat left,” Xie Pinyuan smiled at Huang Zicheng, ”Sorry about that.”

Huang Zicheng waved his hand, said, ”It’s fine, go ahead, I’ll just take a taxi back.”

Jin Lin showed an apologetic expression, clasped her hands together, and said to Huang Zicheng, ”Sorry, I’ll go with them.”

Huang Zicheng smiled and said it was fine.

Jin Lin ran over to Xie Pinyuan.

The wind on the winter night was really too cold, the chilling wind whistling.

Huang Zicheng had drunk a little, felt a bit dazed, but was still rational enough to walk steadily.

Indeed, after joining the cast, he felt that other actors were inexplicably distant, or even hostile towards him.

Huang Zicheng also knew why this was.

His agent was Zhou Lan, Zhou Yun was officially his senior, this hadn’t been concealed from others, so many people knew.

After joining, the staff were quite friendly to him, but he heard many mention Zhou Yun when talking about him.

Huang Zicheng knew that his presence here would inevitably be linked to Zhou Yun.

But knowing is one thing, experiencing and feeling it firsthand is another.

Everyone has their pride, and no one wants to be looked down upon.

This isn’t a feeling that can be explained away or eased with reason or so-called objective reality.

Huang Zicheng never said anything about these feelings, just buried them in his heart, sometimes emerging to torment him.

Especially when he could see the clear meaning of three words in others’ eyes.

Nepotism.

Huang Zicheng earned the role in ”Chen Yin” through a proper audition, passing multiple hurdles, but he didn’t dare to guarantee it was solely due to his ability more than his competitors.

The lead role was Zhou Yun, who knew if the producer and Director Kang Xin considered this factor during his audition.

In fact, regardless of which drama, each time Huang Zicheng was chosen, the production side surely considered his relationship with Zhou Yun.

This was an unavoidable issue after Huang Zicheng signed under Zhou Lan.

He could only adjust his mindset.

Luckily, his ability to withstand pressure has always been strong.

Before acting, he was an athlete, competing in many events annually.

If not for retiring due to injury, he might have continued to rise, perhaps reaching the world-class level.

Zhou Lan valued him and approached him, speaking at length.

”Zicheng, the path of an actor is very tough, bitter, and arduous, no easier than an athlete’s path, of course, it also offers easier ways, but I’m not planning to let you take the easy way because it’ll quickly reach a dead end, and at the end of the road, you become just another face in the crowd,” Zhou Lan said, ”You being an athlete, understand what it means to sharpen a sword in ten years, sometimes we spend our best years yet don’t achieve ideal results, limited by the athlete’s qualities and talent, also including the state of competitors, the same goes for actors, those who can’t act make fools of themselves no matter how hard they try, the more earnest the performance, the more poignant, but I like your gaze, you have a face that tells stories, this is your talent as an actor, but I can’t guarantee you’ll succeed, become very famous, that depends on timing, location, people. I can promise to use my utmost to help you, push you.”

Huang Zicheng, forced to retire, was in a low point in his life then.

Zhou Lan offered him another choice.

”No matter what, I promise as long as I’m in this industry, you’ll have food on your plate, not without a role to play.” Zhou Lan said, ”As long as you don’t make principled mistakes or errors, otherwise even I can’t help you much.”
