Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1111: Chapter 631: Losing It

”I was really dumbfounded.”

Back in the trailer, Zhou Yun called Song Chi.

”I, I really haven’t encountered an actor who can’t act like this for a long time. I was just stunned.”

Song Chi said, ”Didn’t he play the lead role before? It can’t be that bad, right?”

”Who knows.” Zhou Yun sighed, ”If I wasn’t acting opposite him on set, I wouldn’t have thought I’d run into someone who can’t act like this.”

”How’s his attitude?” Song Chi asked.

”Attitude? His attitude is fine, he keeps apologizing after each NG. But just apologizing isn’t enough.” Zhou Yun was very frustrated, ”It took eight takes to get it right.”

”He’s new, just be a bit more understanding.” Song Chi said.

Zhou Yun: ”Maybe I’m being harsh, but I have this feeling that he’s not someone I can just be understanding with. He really can’t act, just doesn’t get it.”

Zhou Yun’s words turned out to be true.

No matter who Xie Pinyuan was acting with, he had the same problem.

It wasn’t because he was acting opposite Zhou Yun, and got nervous, so he couldn’t act. He stood in front of the camera like a wooden doll, sometimes not knowing what he was doing, and then suddenly bursting with passion, scaring everyone.

Even Kang Xin lost his temper.

A director with such a good temper ended up scolding Xie Pinyuan in public: ”Do you even know how to act?!”

Xie Pinyuan’s face was so red it looked like it could bleed.

He had completely lost face.

”I’m sorry, director.” Xie Pinyuan bowed to Kang Xin.

Kang Xin sighed and said, ”Come here, just apologizing isn’t necessary, you need to be more mindful yourself. When you’re shooting a scene, you need to know what you’re doing, what your character’s motivation is, their thoughts, goals, why they’re doing and saying what they are. This is something you need to figure out, not just reciting lines. This is what’s called ’water words’, got it?”

Xie Pinyuan pressed his lips together and nodded.

...

When Kang Xin was scolding Xie Pinyuan, many people on set saw it.

The feeling was like being called up by the class teacher to be criticized and educated in front of the whole class.

Even if the teacher meant well, your self-esteem makes you feel really embarrassed.

At the start when everyone first joined the crew, Xie Pinyuan was the leading figure among the young actors, organizing several events for everyone, eating, singing, playing games.

But after shooting a few scenes, Xie Pinyuan no longer organized these things.

He felt he had lost face, and was too embarrassed to face the others.

The others also didn’t know what to say to him, mainly because Xie Pinyuan’s acting was really poor, beyond their expectations. They felt awkward to say anything, afraid that even one wrong word might upset him.

Zhou Yun originally thought of sticking it out for a few days to see if things would improve. But before things could improve, Xie Pinyuan suddenly asked for leave and left the crew.

”What did he go to do?” Seeing Xie Pinyuan’s absence from the original schedule, she asked in confusion.

Zheng Xiaojue, acting as the ”know-it-all”, said, ”He went to shoot an advertisement.”

”Oh.” Zhou Yun thought, then he’ll probably be back soon.

However, Zhou Yun didn’t expect that Xie Pinyuan wouldn’t want to come back at all.

By the time she heard about it, five days had already passed.

The producer was extremely anxious, urging Xie Pinyuan’s team multiple times, asking when he’d return.

This was originally a short series, not much filming time. Xie Pinyuan’s long absence caused a backlog of many scenes, greatly affecting subsequent plans.

But Xie Pinyuan’s team hemmed and hawed for a long time and finally said, ”Pinyuan is too discouraged to want to return to the crew. Brother Qin, we might have to quit.”

Producer Qin Zhaolan was so angry at hearing this, he started swearing.

News like this never stays hidden for long, and quickly spread throughout the crew.

Jin Lin said privately to Cheng Shenlv, ”I had that premonition before.”

Cheng Shenlv said, ”He used to play the lead, but suddenly he’s assigned a supporting role and criticized harshly by the director. His self-esteem probably couldn’t take it. I sensed he was on the verge of breaking down in the days before he left.”

”Ugh, I didn’t expect he’d act so poorly.” Jin Lin said.

Cheng Shenlv: ”Yeah, I watched the drama he was in before, didn’t think his acting was this bad.”

”Maybe that drama was just playing himself, no acting required,” Jin Lin said, ”But he’s still very handsome.”
