My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2194: Chapter 2027: The Sound of Falling Snow

I slowly listen to the sound of snow falling, imagining with closed eyes that it will never stop!

”I’ve made it very clear to your family just now, everyone makes different choices. If your son chooses to sleep forever, to lie on the sickbed unable to move for a lifetime, then no one can wake him, unless he himself chooses to wake up and see every person in this world who cares about him. Of course, you mentioned just now that his finger moved, which indeed doesn’t rule out the possibility of him waking up, but the odds are minuscule. Frankly, in clinical practice, few people sleep for so long and can naturally wake up; there are very few precedents for this. Generally, in clinical practice, if a person doesn’t fully wake up within the specified time, even if he wakes up later, his practicing certificate will be revoked, and he’ll have to retake the professional exams. But Mr. Zhang’s situation is different; he doesn’t need any professional certificates or to take any exams, so his choice isn’t difficult. He can choose to sleep forever or choose when to wake up; everything is dictated by his inner thoughts. If he truly hopes to wake up, he surely will. If he’s afraid to wake up, facing some cruel and heartbreaking realities, he’ll lock his heart away, choosing never to wake up because in dreams there’s no pain, yet reality only brings heartache. Everyone understands this truth; I believe you, as family members, understand this too...”

”You two shouldn’t make things difficult for the doctor; he’s explained everything clearly. Whether your son can wake up depends on fate. If he recovers well, perhaps we can be discharged. But if he doesn’t recover well, he may never be able to leave the hospital. You’ve been through so many trials; I don’t know how you two have decided. Are you choosing to devote yourself to one field or just fulfill a task?” Old Master Zhang asked Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing.

”I don’t want to explain anything now, just hope it can bless my son to safely pass through this danger period. Today is the second day; if he doesn’t wake today, he truly might end up lying on the sickbed for life, unable to move. Must my son really be ruined here for life?” Xia Jing held Zhang Yichen’s hand and said, ”Son, please wake up soon, you don’t know how worried Dad and Mom are about you. You’ve been gone alone for so long without even a call; do you know we’ve been searching everywhere for you? It was always wrong of Mom before; I shouldn’t have done so many things that hurt you, should never have opposed you on everything. Seeing you like this, I suddenly realize that many things aren’t as easy as I imagined. Once decisions are made, regret is useless. Seeing you lying on the sickbed, I realize you also have vulnerable times, times when you’re sick and can’t move in the hospital. At that moment, I understand I’ve loved you too little. I’ve never accompanied you, voluntarily gone to the hospital for a check-up, nor accompanied you for comfort. But now, I realize I shouldn’t take time daily to accompany you because accompanying is the greatest happiness for a child. Haven’t you always wished to be with the girl you love? I was always against it, but now, as long as you can wake up, I will agree to you being together because I don’t want to lose you, my precious son. Can you forgive Mom? Allow Mom to make up for ten years of neglect, wanting to see you eat every day, grow day by day, see your nutrition normalize daily. For me as a mother, this is the greatest comfort. I never thought you’d follow your dad to that extent; I don’t even understand why we argue every night. After so much, Mom finally realizes nothing is more important than you. I just hope you can live well. Do you know? When you chose to acknowledge me as your mother, I was so happy inside. I waited over ten years for that genuine acknowledgment. But that ”Mom” came too late; just after we reunited, this happened to you. Child, please come back safely! As long as you return safely, I’ll do anything you ask. No matter what decisions you make after returning, I’ll support you unconditionally. As long as you return safely, even if it means dying, I wouldn’t care. Just come back safely...”

Everyone was surprised; they didn’t expect Xia Jing would say such heart-wrenching words. In their understanding, Xia Jing cared only about her own interests, never considered what kind of harm others might suffer. But this time, unexpectedly, Xia Jing considered others’ feelings. This time, Xia Jing didn’t selfishly treat anyone as before. Everyone present believed it was because her own son was sick that Xia Jing made this decision. If it were someone else, would Xia Jing say this?

No one knows if Zhang Yichen heard Xia Jing’s words, but his finger moved again.

This surprised even the doctor; who could have imagined that someone about to become a vegetative state could have his finger move again? Was he really about to wake? Clinically, this is a huge miracle; no one can wake up so easily. But today, he witnessed the greatest miracle in clinical practice.

After the doctor conducted a comprehensive check on Zhang Yichen, he finally reached a conclusion: Zhang Yichen chose to continue sleeping.

”Doctor, you just saw his finger moved. Can he truly wake now? Is there a possibility for him to wake up?” Lei Jian asked.

”After identification by several experts, we found he’s not in a state to choose waking but is about to fall into deep sleep. He has completely closed off his heart; he doesn’t want to face the cruel reality, so wishes to continue sleeping. Inside his world, he won’t feel sad because of anything!”

”Please, the family be mentally prepared; it’s possible he may never wake again. However, all his vital signs are normal, but he lacks autonomous breathing!”

After the doctor finished speaking, he turned and left the ICU intensive care unit, leaving Zhang Yichen’s family inside to wait there. They all couldn’t believe this was the reality they must face but had no choice but to accept.

It’s like you’re holding my hand and never letting go!
