My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2178: Chapter 2011: Concealment

At that time, I was intoxicated all night but later I realized that wasn’t what I wanted!

”Honey, even though you think what I said makes a lot of sense, shouldn’t you forgive your parents and stop arguing with them? This way, your heart won’t be so tormented. I don’t want to see you in such unbearable pain. You’re the man I love most in this life, how could I bear to see you living in such agony alone? But as your wife, how could my heart feel at ease? Ask others if they care about your feelings, but as your wife, I absolutely care about every feeling in your heart. How could I not know how painful it is for you? What I really want isn’t much. I just want you to be able to live peacefully. Maybe in this life, we’ll face different decisions and lives, but we must hold each other’s hands and never part. If you think what I said is right, then forgive them. After all, they are your parents. If our actions lead them to never return home again, how sinful our consciences would be. Can we really keep our own parents out and shut them out? That’s not something either of us would do, right? We shouldn’t let others mock us for holding a grudge. Instead, we should graciously forgive those who have hurt and abandoned us. That’s the true way to avenge, making their hearts ache even more, don’t you think?

Clearly, they think there’s no way the person they hurt will ever forgive them. Yet, they would never imagine that the person they hurt so deeply would eventually forgive them effortlessly, leaving them so guilty and remorseful. They’ll surely think, why did they make such a wrong decision back then to harm such a good person? As long as we make this decision, they will never be able to hurt us again. So why complicate things? Isn’t it best to live the life we should be living? Why make our own hearts endure such torment repeatedly?”

Zhang Yichen didn’t know how to respond to his wife’s words. He just knew that what she said was truly sensible, resonating deeply with him. However, he struggled to set aside his pride to forgive his parents. If he really just let it go, wouldn’t that mean he had no self-respect? If it were so easy, wouldn’t they just hurt him like before again? He truly had no way to assure that wouldn’t happen. Why should he forgive them if it would let them hurt him again? It’s better to set a standard for himself, so they could always remember the painful price of abandoning him. Maybe that way, they’d behave better, right?

”Dear, I know what you’re thinking, but I hope you understand that sometimes, it’s not always right to act purely on our thoughts. There will come a day when you realize some things need careful consideration. Our parents also once shut us out. Tonight, how could you endure their ridicule, thinking we have no tolerance? Aren’t we always told that tolerance is great? Why expose these matters?

The mistakes our parents made should never land on our shoulders because my heart suffers greatly. You have a trick, a way to forgive them every time, let them stay by your side and care for you. If you truly feel uncomfortable or don’t see their sincerity, you can still push them away then. Not giving them a chance now, simply shutting them out, is unjustifiable. You’re an educated person and know we’ve had different upbringings, so why let anyone mock us?

Husband, you know Grandpa values reputation. His dignity revolves around his daughter, yet for Jin Guang, wouldn’t it be right for you to adjust your so-called pride? If others found out, they’d surely mock Grandpa for teaching Sun Wufang such ways. How could you tolerate outsiders ridiculing him? You, as his grandchild, can’t you offer even the slightest bit of appreciation for him after all he has done for you? Can you truly tolerate seeing him in such despair because of you? No, you don’t want such outcomes either, yet don’t know how to solve these issues. I’ve given you all the methods. What you do depends on your heart now. If you’re willing to abandon your grandpa and make him lose face, then ignore everything I’ve said today. He is your grandpa, reflect well on it, for this decision’s outcome, regardless of the consequences, must be completed. No turning back will be offered by anyone, nor any chance to make it right. Think deeply and tread wisely to have a long journey ahead!”

Zhang Yichen is currently very tangled and pained, truly uncertain of what decision to make. It’s impossible to hate his parents. But should he now portray himself as open-minded, showing everyone what kind of parent he has? Why does he endure catastrophic consequences repeatedly, making others feel that everything is so justified?

”Alright, this time I’ll listen to you. I’ll choose to forgive my parents. But I hope they promise me, no matter what, not to abandon me so casually again. I can’t bear their repeated hurt. I’m just an ordinary person with feelings. If they abandon me again, then I’ll never have any chance to let them in, because I can’t achieve that...”

Beneath the bamboo fence, under the arched bridge, beside the ancient path, my love for you stretches to the ends of the earth. Fate toys with us, and in the end, destiny is always ironically mismatched!
