My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2153: Chapter 1986: Water Under the Bridge

Even though things have changed between us, I still can’t help but keep track of your every move!

Zhang Yichen, who was far away abroad, heard his phone ringing. She picked up her phone and saw that it was a message from his wife. Seeing the message left by his wife made him feel a bit sad. Obviously, this matter was so simple, yet why did it become like this? Obviously, it could have been resolved with a few simple, easygoing words, but it turned out like this. He didn’t know how to reply to his wife. Perhaps not replying would be the best reply?

Zhang Zhentian knew that after her son and daughter-in-law had an argument, her son ran away from home. She felt somewhat uneasy. Could it be that there were already family conflicts just after getting married? What on earth was going on with the two of them? The more Zhang Zhentian thought about it, the more upset he became, so he called Xia Jing.

”Haven’t I told you long ago? From now on, we shouldn’t contact each other again. We should be like strangers when we meet. Why are you still calling me? What exactly do you want?”

”Could you please not get angry with me first? I wanted to ask you, our son and daughter-in-law had a fight, and our son ran away from home. Do you know about this?”

”Are you trying to be funny with me? Do you think I would know if my son and daughter-in-law quarreled and my son ran away? I haven’t even seen my son in ages, how would I know so much? You, on the other hand, loiter around the house daily, don’t you know anything?”

”I really don’t understand. They just got married and started fighting. Since that’s the case, why did they get married in the first place? Did they get married just so they could fight? If that’s the case, why marry at all? They might as well live their own separate, carefree lives. This is the good son you raised, the good daughter-in-law you found, that now my son has run away from home, leaving my father at home searching aimlessly. How did you become a mother like this?”

Hearing Zhang Zhentian’s words, Xia Jing also felt uncomfortable. What did he mean by the ”good son” that she, as a mother, had raised? Was it a mistake for her to give the Zhang Family an heir?

”Zhang Zhentian, clarify what you mean by ’the good son I raised.’ I found a good daughter-in-law for our son, what do you mean by these two statements? I painstakingly carried our son for ten months and delivered him to continue your family line. Was that wrong? If I hadn’t given birth to our son, your family would have had no descendants. Aren’t you even a bit grateful? Are you just going to blame everything on me? Obviously, that girl is so kind, yet because of our past, we hurt her so many times, and she’s still generous enough to forgive us. Can’t you just support them being together? Are you still trying to sow discord, then make me take the blame again? Why are you so selfish, always doing extreme things to hurt me? And what about me? What have I done to wrong you? Is this how you repay me? After so many years, you say divorce just like that. What do you take me for?”

”I called not to argue about our issues but to ask if you know where our son went. He’s nowhere to be found in the world right now. How should we deal with this? As his mother, do you only care about enjoying life abroad, never considering your son’s safety?”

”Let me say it again; I don’t know where our son went. He hasn’t contacted me, and I haven’t reached out to him either. What do you mean I don’t care about him? Do you? Have you ever thought about how our son got through these years because of your decision to cruelly keep me away? Now, you’re suffering retribution and want to blame me for everything, making me bear the blame and guilt. How can you be so selfish? After all, we were husband and wife for over a decade. Isn’t that worth anything to you? Do you really look down on me that much?”

”When did I make you take the blame? Can you stop speaking so recklessly, implying that every word you say carries responsibility? Did I make you take the blame? Are you not clear about what you did yourself? How do you now push all the responsibility onto me? A person should dare to act and bear their actions. Is that what you call an upright person? I really don’t know how I saw something in you back then; it’s like I was blind.”

”You’re right; you were blind. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been with you. Indeed, you would only be with someone like me if you were blind. And I was blind too, following a good-for-nothing like you who quits everything halfway and never knows what’s important. You can’t even distinguish urgency. Do you feel comfortable arguing with me while our son is missing? You shouldn’t argue with me under the pretense of looking for our son. If he’s really missing, go and search for him immediately without wasting any more time fighting with me. This way, you’ll end with nothing in the end.”

”Forget it then, a real man doesn’t argue with a woman. Women like you, I really don’t know what to say. To think I treated you like a precious gem back then, but it turns out you were a thankless wolf, so ruthless that you almost left my family without a successor.”

”I’m sorry, Mr. Zhang, I have nothing to say to you. From today onwards, we are like strangers, each living our own lives. Don’t come to us with this or that anymore; it’s unnecessary. I once truly regarded you as the man I loved the most, but you gave me a violent blow. It’s you who made me understand you’re an unreliable man. Thank you for ruthlessly pushing me away, which gave me a peaceful and carefree life. I no longer have to worry about how to interact with you because being with you every day made me feel lost. But precisely because you abandoned me, I learned a lot. I became stronger than before. I learned that Xia Jing doesn’t need Zhang Zhentian to be alright...”

As soon as Xia Jing finished speaking, she hung up the phone.

Since we said goodbye, we should strive to walk our own path in life!
