My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2162: Chapter 1995: Capability

Never admit that you can’t do it, and never say that you don’t know how. Make yourself an excellent person.

Zhang Zhentian gazed at the sky with melancholy. Originally, it was a vast sky with white clouds, but because he was in an extremely bad mood, he felt the whole world was gray. The sky had turned colorless, the entire world was pitch-black, and he couldn’t see any light. His doomsday had arrived.

Xia Jing saw Zhang Zhentian standing motionless at the entrance of the civil affairs bureau. She knew that her husband was still reluctant, but since she had forcefully brought him here, what right did she have to turn back? Things had progressed to this point step by step, and both of them were responsible. You couldn’t put all the blame on either of them; it would be too selfish and irresponsible...

Xia Jing’s heart was really in pain. Seeing her husband standing there motionless, she wished time could stop forever at this moment, so they would never step through the doors of the civil affairs bureau and never face the day of divorce. She just wanted to quietly look at her dear husband like this!

The two had been in love for so long, yet in the end, they couldn’t escape the fate arranged for them. They had no choice but to submit and go for a divorce.

Zhang Zhentian saw that Xia Jing also appeared reluctant. He said to Xia Jing, ”How about we don’t get a divorce? Just give me one more chance. Let’s go home together, happily living together. Isn’t that good? Why make things like this?”

”Since the words have already been spoken, why go back? As the saying goes, a good horse does not turn back to graze. Since the decision has been made, even if you’re on your knees, you must see it through. We’ve been through so much, and it’s indeed not easy to forget each other, but now there’s really no road to follow. Since this is the predetermined ending, let’s release each other’s hands and give each other another chance. Trust me, I definitely won’t make you sad anymore.”

”What’s the use of saying these things now? It’s too late for everything. We have no way back to take. Since we’ve both come here, why not step into this door easily and give each other the outcome we want?”

”Xia Jing, you should know that I don’t want to divorce you, I don’t want to walk into the entrance of this civil affairs bureau, I don’t want to see the back of you leaving. Every time I see you turning away from me, do you know how sad I am to watch your back? Why don’t you understand my heart for you? After so many years of marital relationship, don’t you really know me at all? Everything I did was for the two of us to live a better life, so we could live the life we wanted, happily spending the rest of our lives together. But why are you so unwilling to understand me? Many times, if only you knew me a little better, the outcome would be different, but you didn’t.”

”What’s the use of saying these things now? We originally had a way back, but all paths back were blocked by you. I begged you bitterly not to divorce me, but you resolutely decided to abandon me, to abandon the affection we’ve built over a dozen years, the companionship by the pillow for more than a decade! Since you were so heartless in choosing to abandon me at that time, now don’t bow your head and ask me to come back to you. It’s truly meaningless and makes me feel that you’re unworthy of being a man. You disregard the affection between us as husband and wife, so why should I see you as a part of my life? That would just make me more miserable. Enough, now let’s say nothing more. Since we’re here, let’s go in and deal with what needs to be dealt with. Otherwise, coming here again later would just be more troublesome!”

Xia Jing finished speaking and turned around to walk into the doors of the civil affairs bureau. Zhang Zhentian saw Xia Jing’s resolute back, and his heart felt uncomfortable. Xia Jing looked back, seeing Zhang Zhentian standing there motionless. She reached out to pull Zhang Zhentian through the door, but she couldn’t move him no matter how hard she tried.

”What’s wrong with giving me just one more chance? Do I really mean so little in your heart? What’s wrong with giving me just one more chance? What do I want? I want nothing but a simple, happy family!”

”Is it that during these past dozen years, I haven’t given you the feeling of home or created the atmosphere of a happy family that you should have, so you choose to treat me this way? You tell me that as long as I go back with you now, you’ll never divorce me again. Do you think what you’ve said is even remotely credible? Since you can be so heartless as to propose a divorce this time, then there will be a second, a third. I don’t want to endure such blows time and again. Since this time you made it clear, let’s resolve this completely, so that we’re not both so heartbroken.”

Xia Jing finished and walked directly into the doors of the civil affairs bureau. She didn’t plan to wait for Zhang Zhentian to come. Zhang Zhentian, having no choice, slowly walked into the civil affairs bureau.

The two of them argued inside the civil affairs bureau for quite a while before finally quieting down. Once they were quiet, Xia Jing signed her name on the divorce agreement. Zhang Zhentian saw Xia Jing signing the divorce agreement without any hesitation. He realized that his actions this time had truly broken Xia Jing’s heart. Since Xia Jing had already made such a decision, he should no longer force her to continue living with him. Perhaps it was time to release Xia Jing’s hand and let her fly on her own.

After Zhang Zhentian thought this over alone, he signed his name on the divorce agreement himself. The clerk handed the divorce certificate to both Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing. Xia Jing looked at the divorce certificate in her hand and, smiling, said to Zhang Zhentian, ”Congratulations, you’ve finally gotten rid of me. From now on, you can live a happy life with Dad and our son, while it’s my time to fly solo without any burdens or encumbrance!”

”You too, henceforth flying solo, you no longer need to worry about me exposing your lies!”

”Now that we’ve completed all the necessary procedures, you’re free. We each return to our own homes, never to meet again, never to contact each other. From now on, our paths will never cross...”

Xia Jing finished and turned away, leaving. As she turned, a large teardrop slid down her cheek from the corner of her eye. She felt the wind blowing against her face, cold on what was supposed to be a hot day, yet she felt the chill of winter.

Zhang Zhentian knew Xia Jing was crying, but he said nothing, because the more you say, the more it hurts. His heart was indeed in discomfort, but he had to console his ex-wife. From today on, there would no longer be any matrimonial bond between them. They no longer needed to concern themselves with any conflicts between each other. Each could happily pursue the life they wanted. But why did his heart feel so painful?

The difference in ability is just the result of one’s lack of effort!
