My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2171: Chapter 2004: Unattainable

I haven’t reached hysterics, it’s just that I’m still in a situation of unattainable longing.

”Do you think I don’t want to? All these years I’ve been trying to let go, to forget about you, to stop keeping you in my heart, but I have never been able to forget you. Do you know how desperate that feels? I also want to start a new life, but your shadow and your smile linger in my mind every day, and I can’t make them disappear.

For you, I’ve waited so many years, but what about you? You got married early and had children, but I don’t mind, I only want to have you!”

”You really don’t need to go to great lengths to find me anymore. No matter how well you speak to me or how sweet your words are, I won’t believe you. I just want to live a stable life now, and I don’t want our meetings to ruin my marriage with my husband. All I want is for us to live happily together; nothing is more important than that. If you have even a bit of love for me left, please let me go and let me live my own life. Please don’t disturb the quiet life I have now, okay?”

”Since you really won’t give me another chance to try to be with you, then accompany me to have a good drink tonight. Let’s not go home until we’re drunk. After tonight, I promise I won’t bother you again. You go your way, I’ll go mine, and we’ll keep to our own lives. How does that sound?”

Ran Zhihan hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to stay and drink with his classmate. However, he didn’t expect that the drinking tonight would lead to suspicions of divorce.

”Remember what you just said. If you can do that, then I’ll have a good drink with you, not going home until we’re drunk!” Ran Zhihan thought his husband didn’t know, but he didn’t realize that his every move was being watched by his husband. He was still in the dark, thinking that as long as he could destroy all the evidence, he wouldn’t be found out, but he didn’t know that his husband had been monitoring him long before, watching his every move. This made him never fully trust him until the end.

”Don’t worry, as long as you have a good drink with me and don’t go back tonight, just stay here with me, I will keep my promise to you!”

Chen Gang watched the woman in front of him start drinking, and his mood instantly improved. All he wanted was to be with the woman he loved, but he waited in vain for so many years without any result, without even an explanation. After all his hard work, studying abroad, he found out that the woman he loved had already married and had children. How could he accept that?

Ran Zhihan was filled with drink after drink by Chen Gang. He knew he couldn’t handle alcohol too well, but seeing his classmate, he felt he had to go on. However, who would have thought that after he drank until he was a mess, Chen Gang would take him back home.

”Zhihan, do you know how hard my life has been all these years? The mere thought of being with you makes my whole body relax. All I want is to be with the woman I love most. Even though you’re not a complete woman now, I still want to be with you and have a marital relationship with you!

I hope you’ll forgive me for deceiving you tonight. Maybe when you wake up, it’ll be hard to accept, but I really couldn’t resist anymore. I’ve been waiting for over a decade, and this is the result I get. How could my heart be content with this? I’ve already investigated your marriage and found out it’s been rocky, not as happy as imagined. So why shouldn’t I take this opportunity to bring you back into my life, so you can belong to me forever and never be with someone else again? All I want is your companionship, your gentle care!”

Chen Gang voiced his inner thoughts to the drunken Ran Zhihan.

......

As the day slowly broke, upon seeing the person in his arms, he thought he was the happiest person in the world. He finally got the love he wanted the most. He’d held out for so long and finally got the woman he loved, albeit through improper means, yet it was the fruition of a wish in his heart.

Zhang Yichen watched as his wife was taken home by Chen Gang, spending the entire night without coming out. Yet he chose to say nothing, waiting quietly at home for his wife to return and give him an explanation. He didn’t know what excuse or lie his wife would use this time to deceive him.

Ran Zhihan opened his eyes groggily, thinking the man beside him was his husband. But when he opened his eyes and saw clearly, he realized he had made the greatest mistake in the world.

”Chen Gang!? What did you do to me? Why did I end up here overnight? Didn’t you say after drinking with you last night, you wouldn’t bother my life anymore? How could you lie to me? Why would you treat me like this? What did I do to provoke you, to deserve this? I just want to live my own life; is that so hard? Must you disrupt my life until it’s turned upside down before you’re satisfied? I told you we could never be together. Now that you’ve put me in this situation, how can I face my husband? He’ll know at a glance what I’ve gone through overnight. Why do this to me?”

”I have to do this. I want you to divorce your husband. Only then will I have the chance to bring you back to my side. I just want you to stay with me. This may mean little to you, but to me, it’s the cure for my deepest desires. I only want the woman I love most. I’ve been forcing myself to bear the longing for you, striving hard in my studies, so that someday I could succeed and bring you back, to give you the happiest life. But when I returned to find out you were already married, I didn’t care whether you had children or married someone else. All that mattered was if you could be with me!”

The thing I fear most is the misty rain, because it obscures the sight of you. I once called out to the heavens, and the sky wept, as did I, yet where were you while these sad scenes of the past unfolded one after another?

Your gaze, your smile, accompanied all my loneliness today. I know the misty rain blurs thrice over the waters, and your whispers, your tears are the most painful memories in my heart.
