My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2188: Chapter 2021: Free and Unrestrained

Has all of this become foam, in the darkness, the air is turbid, when I look back, memories go insane, entangling me.

Zhang Zhentian didn’t expect that this time he actually said nothing, everything was clearly seen by his father, as if he could see through his heart, it was simply too terrifying, daring not to entertain even a single stray thought. But he must think things through this time, if he really gave up his whole family because of a mistake in direction, it would be just as his father said, he would never have any chance to return to this home in his lifetime.

But if he really made a wrong decision this time, choosing to abandon his wife and choose family, his wife would leave him, never forgiving him. Why must he face such a dilemma, trapped on both sides? All he wanted was a way to please everyone, so they would accept him by their side and genuinely treat him as part of the family.

Why is it so hard to behave in this way? Why is it that he never gets what he desires? Is it really this difficult? If it were others, how would they choose between the woman they deeply love and the family they’ve owed for years?

”Dad, I must admit that I’ve had such thoughts, but now, hearing you say this, I’m truly conflicted deep down. I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid that you and my wife won’t get along, that you’ll challenge her time and again. I don’t want her to feel wronged; I just want to see her smile brilliantly. Over the years, she’s just as eager to return to this home, to be by your side.

In this home, everyone’s longing for her is not less than mine. Conversely, I’ve done too many things that made you sad and cry. But she is innocent, no matter how stubborn she was before, no matter how biased her actions were, she’s always been my wife, a part of this family. Regardless, we should choose to embrace her, forgive her, understand her, shouldn’t we?

From the start, I knew harmony at home brings prosperity, which would ultimately hurt you time and again, causing you to harbor opinions and prejudices against us that persist to this day without any way to eliminate them. We understand it’s all our own doing, our own fault, and no one else can be blamed. But we also want to return to this home steadily, unwilling to continue wandering outside. No one wants to return home only to keep wandering outside; that’s not the ending anyone desires!”

”We never intended to give her trouble; we just want to know if you’re sincerely returning to this home, or is he not allowed? If you’re coming back with false intentions, and hurt us again, how are we supposed to cope then? Are we merely destined to be repeatedly hurt by you, neglecting even basic self-protection?

You are my son, couldn’t you use your brain a bit more while speaking and doing things? How could I have a son who’s so thoughtless? As for what you said, how should I respond? She’s my daughter-in-law, and no matter what, I prioritize her interests and consider her. But you, saying such things today, you’re not treating me as your father at all. If she knew, then how do you think she’d feel?

If you thought these words yourself and told me, I can understand, but if she directed you to say them, I will be ruthless and drive you out again. I’m not a philanthropist; I can’t possibly be blindly compliant to you. You must bear the consequences of what you’ve done, no matter how unsatisfactory your life has been these years. This is all your own doing, not something I forced upon you, making you live a life of unbearable pain.

Don’t blame others for the mistakes you’ve made; look for the reasons within yourself. Was it really your mistake if it wasn’t, then it might be an issue with others. Whatever the problem, always find the reason in yourself first. Blaming others is not something a man should do.”

”Dad, I’m sorry. This is my fault today. I was too impatient. I don’t want to be driven out again, nor do I want my wife to leave me, so I said these things to you. Actually, these words are all my own; they have nothing to do with my wife. She doesn’t even know about them; I never planned to tell her, nor did she ask me to say them to you.

I’ve seen too much of happiness and separation, and I just want everyone to live harmoniously together. Actually, the lifestyle we’ve been pursuing over the years is the same; we just want our family to stay by our side so we can reunite. During every festive season, we wish to have a family meal together, rather than being in different territories.

I’m not a heartless person when doing things. I have emotions; I’m a living human being. I know the importance of emotions and desires, knowing my mood is crucial. I just don’t want my family to confront me repeatedly. I really have no way to choose between my wife and my family.

You are the family I’ve owed for years, but she’s the wife who has accompanied me for years. How could I abandon her to make up for you? But how can I abandon my family for the wife who accompanies me through these years, leaving me caught in the middle and besieged on both sides? This leaves me feeling like I don’t belong anywhere; I’m wrong no matter what I do. Because no matter which side I choose, I’ll hurt the other side. The only way to please everyone is for you to get along amicably, without placing me in the middle. I only want everyone to live harmoniously, without making unnecessary sacrifices, sacrificing for one side to satisfy the other is not a sustainable solution. Can such a thing truly make a family last? Never will!”

Like a dream, my rationality is engulfed in just a second. Thinking too much makes one less carefree!
