My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2166: Chapter 1999: Clouds and Sea

You should know better than anyone else, the clouds on the horizon stretch into infinity. As you overlook those gazing eyes, time continues to journey on ceaselessly, leaving behind footprints of unknown origin, not just courage born of desire.

”Even if we really cannot go back and can never return to the way life was, you should at least give me the basic respect of telling me. Isn’t that the least respect you owe me? You want to come back to my family, I have no objections because my son is also your son. You’ve left a descendant for the Zhang Family, but there is no need for you to do this. Why didn’t you tell me about this? Do you think what you did makes any sense? You still hide such things from me. You can choose not to come back to the family with me, you can choose to never contact me again, you can choose to never see me for the rest of your life, but you shouldn’t treat me like this. After all, we have been a married couple for over ten years, sharing the same bed!”

Upon hearing Zhang Zhentian’s words, Xia Jing couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

”You, you have no right to talk to me about being a couple now. Don’t you think what you did is more cruel than anything I did to you? And not just ten times crueler, but a thousand, ten thousand times. Have you never thought, when you abandoned me back then, that you would have such an outcome today? Have you never considered the consequences of your actions? You never considered me, always piling the blame on my head. I have never said anything. I always thought, asking your Brother Fei, I believed you were my wife. Even as your wife, I could bear the blame for you, but you, have you ever thought this way? Maybe you never have. Actually, people treat others the way they are treated. However you treat me, that’s how I’ll treat you. But my harsh treatment of you is not even a fraction of the cruelty you showed me in these years with you. I must admit, I have been extremely happy, although you treated me as a scapegoat from the start. Still, I am grateful for you enriching the past decade of my life, for letting me understand what true love is. Because love is selfless, my love for you has completed love’s essence, and now I have no love for you at all. Your deeds have long broken my heart, yet I never said it outright because I didn’t want to damage our harmony as husband and wife. I didn’t want my parents and my son to be heartbroken again! Being with you all these years, I never considered how I would leave you, how we would split, how I wouldn’t be with you anymore, but until the moment you forcibly took me to the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, wanting to divorce, only then did I realize that I loved the wrong person in this life. I shouldn’t have loved you from the start. Loving you has pained me bitterly inside. Loving you has shown me what true suffering is. My love for you has never changed, but your love for me has long lost all meaning. Actually, you should understand one thing: if a relationship is tainted with any ulterior motive, no matter how rich it seems initially, it will end up with no good results. I never knew in the beginning what your intentions were or what state you were in, but gradually I discovered that being with you, you were not happy or joyful. Instead, you found me nagging every day, always managing your life. But you don’t understand: if a woman doesn’t manage her man’s daily life, that woman definitely doesn’t love him. For you, I’ve proven how much I loved you, but ultimately, you’ve hurt my heart because you’ve never thought about why I love you so much.”

”Why love me so much? Isn’t it because you were looking at my family’s money? Don’t think the world speaks of you as if your soul is so noble, your pride so justifiable, but I have lived with you for over ten years. I know clearly what kind of woman you truly are. In your eyes, isn’t it just all about interests? Without benefits, you see no meaning in anything. You are accustomed to self-hypnosis. You always think everything is the best, yet you don’t understand what kind of wife I need. I don’t want a wife who constantly manages my personal space. I want a wife who can stand by me when I need her most...”

”Ask your conscience, during the times I was with you, whenever you had difficulties, didn’t I stand by you? Time and again, I was willing to face any danger for you. But what about you? Time and again, you used me as your scapegoat. What mistakes have you made? You always let me take the blame, and what did I ever say? I never once uttered an unwilling word because I believed one day, I could move you—I could make your heart realize I truly loved you, truly wanted to be with you, without any feelings mixed in. Yet, in the end, I discovered I was wrong. No matter how I try to please you, how earnestly I treat you, how selflessly I give to you, you’ve never regarded me as your partner. You, time and again, used me. I have nothing to say, as I am your wife, I should be used by you, but could you consider the feelings of a wife? I don’t know; in your eyes, is your so-called wife merely a tool for bearing offspring or something else? But at the very least, you should respect women, shouldn’t you? Every decision you’ve made has hurt the person who loves you the most. Don’t you know? Every decision you make, you’ve never considered me. Do you know? It pains my heart immensely. So many times, I just want to be peacefully with you, just want an ordinary, uneventful life. I don’t want wealth and prosperity, but you always thought I was with you for your family’s money. I’ve never said this because I don’t want to say it—I feel saying it would completely obliterate any possibility between us. But today, I’ve made up my mind to leave you, so I have nothing left unsaid. Since I’ve voiced everything, it shows we will never have any possibility in this life again, won’t we? I hope you won’t ever disturb my life again in the future. We will quietly lead our own lives from now on, and when we meet, we’ll be strangers.”

Some people choose to quietly depart, fearing disturbance to you but who among them wouldn’t want to dive deep into the sea, gently resting in the deep sea, healing your heartache?
