My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2182: Chapter 2015: Striving For

After walking for a long, long time, yet still not knowing what you truly desire, every step is taken with difficulty, but you never give up.

Zhang Zhentian arrived at Stardust Legend and asked the boss, ”Boss, I want to ask you how much it would cost to book the venue for a night?”

Seeing Zhang Zhentian dressed in somewhat old clothes, the Stardust Legend boss looked at him with disdain and said, ”You? Want to book my Stardust Legend? Young man, don’t make me laugh.”

This boss clearly looks down on people based on appearance, thinking he could insult Zhang Zhentian because he wasn’t wearing name brands. However, when he would later realize Zhang Zhentian’s extraordinary identity—seeing him in brand-name clothes—the arrogance would disappear. Of course, this would only happen after Zhang Zhentian showed up dressed in name brands.

”Boss, I’m here to book the venue, just name your price!”

”Haha, you want me to name a price? You look like someone who only has a few thousand dollars. Can you afford to book the venue?” The boss said sarcastically.

”If there is business to be done, why make distinctions between people?” Zhang Zhentian advised earnestly.

”Young man, don’t blame me for not telling you, my venue isn’t meant for people like you. You can’t afford it; only big shots can spend here. With your type... tsk tsk tsk, with that poor look of yours, hurry and leave before you embarrass yourself,” the Stardust Legend boss continued to show disdain for Zhang Zhentian.

”Haha, you look down on me? Do you know who I am?” Zhang Zhentian had never been looked down upon like this before; at this moment, he felt his pride was hurt.

”I don’t care who you are; you can’t understand what I’m saying, can you?” The boss replied unhappily.

”If I’m asking you to name a price, it means I can afford it. What’s the matter? You don’t dare to name a price? Do you also think your place isn’t all that great?” Zhang Zhentian retorted to the Stardust boss.

The boss sighed silently inside, thinking he had already given Zhang Zhentian enough face, thinking Zhang Zhentian was someone who didn’t know his place. He sneered, ”Fine, you want me to name a price? Well then, it’s not much; if you want to book, just fork over five million, and it’s yours. How about it?”

Zhang Zhentian was not expecting the boss to open with such an outrageous demand, and he said to the boss, ”Boss, do you really think I’m an idiot? Everyone knows your venue isn’t much better than others; it’s just that the location is good, so the charges are higher. You plan to swindle with this tactic? Or do you think I can’t afford it, so you’re deliberately trying to humiliate me?”

The boss’s intention was seen through by Zhang Zhentian, and he said angrily, ”So what, I’m doing it deliberately. If you’ve got the guts, bring the money!”

”Bring it!”

Zhang Zhentian rummaged through his pocket, but couldn’t find his bank card. He thought to himself, ”Darn it, I was too hurried when leaving home and forgot the card!”

The boss watched as Zhang Zhentian fumbled in his pocket without pulling anything out, and started mocking again, ”Oh, what’s the matter? Can’t bring it out, huh? Since that’s the case, I won’t see you off; take care!”

The boss made a ”go ahead” gesture with his hand!

”Just you wait!” Zhang Zhentian was angered, tossed a remark, and left!

”Hmph, I’ve seen plenty of poor kids like you!”

Zhang Zhentian stormed home, changed into a brand-name suit, grabbed his bank card, and headed back to Stardust Legend.

As soon as he entered, the boss rushed over and said, ”Dear guest, please come in!”

He hadn’t yet realized that the young man before him was the same poor kid he had just looked down upon a moment ago.

”Boss, have you forgotten me so soon?” Zhang Zhentian couldn’t help but tease the boss.

The boss looked up carefully and recognized Zhang Zhentian. He immediately changed his attitude: ”Oh, I wondered who it was. Isn’t this the poor young man from a while ago? It seems I was mistaken; how could I have taken you for a rich man?”

Zhang Zhentian smiled and said to the boss, ”So, boss, weren’t you looking down on me just because I was dressed shabbily, thinking I had no money? I’m wearing name brands now; shouldn’t you let me book the venue?”

The boss found it amusing, questioning whether Zhang Zhentian had a problem with his head.

”Haha, young man, are you okay? Do you think changing into a brand-name suit makes you a big shot here? No matter how you change your clothes, you can’t shake the aura of poverty from your bones!” The boss began to insult Zhang Zhentian uncontrollably.

...

As the boss spewed one insulting line after another, piercing Zhang Zhentian’s ears, a familiar face approached Zhang Zhentian and said, ”Zhentian, long time no see. I heard your dad is running Zhang Corporation very well, profits are consistently rising!”

”Long time no see. Zhang Corporation is my dad’s company, not mine; I can only say it’s my dad and the company shareholders who deserve the credit.” Zhang Zhentian answered politely.

The boss realized Zhang Zhentian’s true identity when his friend mentioned that Old Master Zhang was managing Zhang Corporation.

”Young Master Zhang, my apologies, I didn’t recognize ’Mount Taishan’ earlier; please don’t take offense!” The boss interrupted, catching the attention of Zhang Zhentian’s friend.

”Zhentian, isn’t this the boss of Stardust Legend? Is there some misunderstanding between you?”

”Don’t worry about it, I’ll find you for a drink sometime. Today, I have business to attend to, so I can’t chat longer!” Zhang Zhentian’s words were essentially a farewell.

”Alright, I’ll be off first then. Let’s meet up another day!”

Once Zhang Zhentian’s friend left, the Stardust boss addressed Zhang Zhentian, ”Young Master Zhang, it wasn’t intentional. Aren’t you here to book the venue? Feel free, I’ll give you a 60% discount, how about that?”

Originally, Zhang Zhentian wasn’t a vengeful person, but today the boss deeply hurt his pride; how could he let him go easily?

”Boss, what’s this? I’m just a poor kid. I don’t have that much money to book your venue. Poor folks like me are not worthy to stand in front of your bar door, isn’t that right, boss?” Zhang Zhentian sarcastically replied to the boss.

”No, no, I didn’t know you were President Zhang Mo’s son. I accidently offended you earlier; please forgive my mistake this time!”

Watching the boss’s demeanor, Zhang Zhentian couldn’t help but sigh: is the world really this superficial? Is having money more useful than anything else?

”I tell you, don’t look down on others, for those who you disdain today might one day become gods you can’t afford to mess with in your lifetime! Everyone is equal, yet in your eyes people are ranked in tiers; do you think money makes you superior? Do you love money that much?” Zhang Zhentian questioned the boss.

The boss didn’t know what to say, surprised to find that the poor young man he looked down on suddenly transformed into a rich kid, catching him off guard.

”It’s my mistake, I’ll definitely change; please rest assured.”

”Remember what you said; if this happens again, I don’t mind ruining all your efforts.” Zhang Zhentian said before leaving. As he walked, he suddenly recalled something and returned to ask, ”By the way, you said booking your venue costs five million, right? If that’s the case, swipe the card directly!”

The boss truly hadn’t expected Zhang Zhentian to leave this way; he had been scared for so long, relieved it finally ended peacefully!

When my love for you had yet to be expressed, you had already left me, far away.
