My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2190: Chapter 2023: Ten Thousand Years

”Grandpa, my feelings for her, even if a thousand years pass, or even ten thousand years, I will never forget!”

Ran Zhihan had already quietly changed into five outfits and entered the monitoring room in his mind. He felt that it was time for him to contribute; as a daughter-in-law, he should step up, right? He couldn’t just let his husband be there mourning silently on his own. Maybe leaving her alone inside was the biggest mistake. He had to face two relatives lying in there alone; how could he possibly handle that? All he ever wanted was a stable family. The repeated changes over the years eventually robbed her of a happy family, leaving her to live there alone and helpless.

”Yichen, you should go out first. Let me have a word with Dad and Mom. You must be very tired being by yourself. You need a good rest and take care of yourself. Grandpa is still waiting for you to comfort him; if you don’t go see him for a few days, he’ll definitely get suspicious. You know Grandpa’s nature; he’s inherently suspicious, and if something seems off to him, he’ll definitely suspect and investigate.

It’s not time yet for Grandpa to know that something has happened to Mom and Dad again. Otherwise, his heart honestly wouldn’t be able to withstand it. He can’t just watch his children get into accidents one after another; how could an old man endure such a blow?”

Zhang Yichen initially wanted to say something, but when he saw the words his wife said, they came from the heart. He knew his wife’s words were reasonable. He really should go to comfort his grandfather. It had been days, and perhaps he already knew the truth himself, but if he continued not to comfort her, the consequences would be even more unpredictable.

”Zhihan, I’ll listen to you. I’ll go out and comfort Grandpa and also take Uncle and the others to have something to eat. You stay here and watch over Mom and Dad. Don’t let anything else happen to them. If anything comes up, contact me immediately, okay?”

”I will, don’t worry. You go ahead and take Uncle and the others to lunch. I’ll stay here and watch over them. You must remember to comfort Grandpa’s emotions well. Don’t let him notice anything amiss, or else Grandpa really won’t be able to handle it!”

Zhang Yichen nodded and left the intensive care unit. The first thing he needed to do now was to go to Grandpa’s place to soothe his emotions. He worried that if his grandfather didn’t see him for a moment, it would really cause big trouble. He didn’t want to lose any more family. His parents were already in this state, and if anything happened to his grandfather, what meaning would life have for him? The departure from last year has ultimately resulted in the dissolution of this family.

Ran Zhihan sat in her husband’s seat, remaining in that spot. She wanted to sit down and talk to her parents.

”Mom and Dad, I’m your daughter-in-law. You should still remember me, right? Although you haven’t been around these years, I remain grateful to you. If not for the two of you, how could I have such an exceptional husband? He’s given me what no one else could in this lifetime. He’s really lived a hard life, walking alone to this day, every step so arduously. Even if you saw this from the side, you never came out to care for her. She always thought her own parents had completely abandoned her.

But when he heard you say that you were observing his every move all the time, you never stood up. Do you know that moment, his heart truly shattered? He wanted the care of his family, but even when you saw it, you didn’t stand out!

Your long absence, the long lack of companionship, caused harm to your son’s heart and brought immense emotional pain to my child. Do you know? All his little friends know they have grandparents, but my child doesn’t. At school, he’s subjected to endless ridicule, constantly holding me and asking why he doesn’t have grandparents, why his grandparents cruelly abandoned her and didn’t want her. As a mother, how am I supposed to answer? I’m a human too; I also feel for my child.

I’ve deceived my child time and again, and when she finally believed me wholly, her grandparents returned. But why did you have to cause all this when you came back? She worked tirelessly to complete training abroad early just to come back and talk to her grandparents. She wants to stay by her grandparents’ side, hoping they can stay at home safely, never leaving again.

Some things I, as a junior, shouldn’t say, but if you really feel even a little guilt, shouldn’t you awaken with your will to live? Take a good look at your loved ones, your son, see what your parents have become.

Your sudden illness has caused so much heartache to so many. Everyone is anxious and worried about you, yet you two just lie here indifferent, enjoying the comfort here. Maybe you think it’s comfortable, but in your relatives’ eyes, it’s nothing but painful torment!

Saying more won’t change anything. If you can hear me, wake up quickly; don’t continue to slumber. Don’t let yourselves walk the road of no return.”

No matter what Ran Zhihan said, regardless of the sincerity in his words, the two people on the sickbed showed no reaction, as if everything in the world had nothing to do with them anymore. They are just responsible for their happiness in dreams, responsible for continuing to sleep in their world. Yet, they’ve forgotten that their family is still waiting for them, and their will to live is being worn down bit by bit.

”Mom and Dad, it’s been long enough. You should have woken up by now. Continuing to sleep won’t do your bodies any good. If you go on like this, you’ll only make your loved ones worry and become depressed over you. Can you really bear to see your family get hurt by your actions? No matter what you’ve done, others can forgive you unconditionally. Your family has been deeply hurt by you, but they still choose to forgive you, simply because you are their relatives. But can you truly bear to let your family be disappointed and hurt time and again because of you?”

These feelings are deeply engraved in my heart. It’s my fault that all of this happened, and such consequences should be borne by me!
