My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2189: Chapter 2022: False Affection

When insincerity breeds, when desire roars, it’s like a gust of wind, disrupting everything.

Zhang Zhentian now finally understands that even though no one else may understand him, his father is the one who knows him best. Looking back, he realizes that he hasn’t taken care of his family all these years. What reason does he have now to abandon them once again?

Xia Jing overheard the conversation between her husband and her father. She felt that under no circumstances should she let her husband be troubled like this.

Zhang Zhentian has already sacrificed too much because of her. She couldn’t be so selfish.

”Dad, you know it wasn’t easy for me to return to this family. I hope to live in this family forever, but I can’t make my wife suffer just to stay here. If that’s the case, do you think I’m still a good husband?

The men of the Zhang Family, every single one loves their wife. I regretted leaving home initially, but that doesn’t mean I would make a different choice. I love her just like you loved my mom. That kind of love is unforgettable, and it’s not something you give up on because of casual family persuasion!”

Old Master Zhang really doesn’t know what to say to his son now, thinking he is simply stubborn and unyielding.

”You tell me, how do you want me to talk to you?

When you make decisions, do you ever consider whether your decisions will make us heartbroken?

Why do you still ignore your family’s feelings in everything you do?

What is family to you exactly in your eyes? Do you think we won’t feel heartache? Can’t you be a bit more considerate of our feelings? I don’t have that much time, and one day when you wake up, you might not see me anymore. Even if you don’t consider me, you should think about your child. He has already suffered enough.

You don’t have to care about me as a father, but I beg you, at least care about your child!”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t expect his father to beg so humbly, just so he wouldn’t leave the family, or more accurately, so he wouldn’t leave his son. What has he, as a father, brought to his son all these years? Besides hurt, there is nothing else. What reason does he have to leave this family now?

”Dad, you should understand me. You know I can’t give up on my wife. If I could, I would have done it long ago. Please understand me, don’t push me, can you?

Isn’t living peacefully together a good thing for everyone?”

Xia Jing didn’t want them to argue. She pretended not to hear anything, walked out, and smiled at her husband.

”Dad, what are you all standing here for? Are you hungry? If you’re hungry, just tell me, and I’ll cook something for you.”

Old Master Zhang is a smart man. He understood that Xia Jing was trying to mediate and didn’t say much, just going along with her words. He thought if his son were half as smart as Xia Jing, things wouldn’t be so tricky. Yet, he’s ended up with a foolish son.

Zhang Zhentian still hasn’t figured out how his wife could appear so timely. Why did his father say something different to Xia Jing just now?

This made it difficult for his slow brain to keep up. Why does he never get what he wants, why is his thinking always a bit slow? This is a disadvantage for him.

But even so, he couldn’t change his own brain; it was just so useless.

If only his mind were a bit sharper, he wouldn’t have turned out this way. Ultimately, it’s his own lack of intellect!

Xia Jing didn’t know about Zhang Zhentian’s inner conflict. She thought no matter what, her husband wouldn’t doubt that his brain is slower than others, as that’s something only a fool would even consider. Can her husband really become a fool?

”Xia Jing, some things I still think I should tell you. Since you’ve already returned to this family, you should make family your priority, live well, and stop contemplating unnecessary things. It won’t do you any good.”

How could Xia Jing not understand what Old Master Zhang meant with these words, though she couldn’t rebut outright.

”Dad, I know what you mean. Don’t worry, since I’ve decided to return to this family, I won’t leave no matter what. I’m already very satisfied to be back here.”

”Child, there are some matters that I know don’t really concern you, and many actions you take are for your family. But you forget how much potential harm your actions could cause everyone.

I didn’t want to bring this issue to light, but I believe you have heard all the conversations between my son and me. Are you really not going to say anything and just stand here, pretending to be in a universe? Do you really want to watch him suffer from heartbreak because of your dilemma again and again?

In fact, you don’t want that because you love him in your heart. You would rather get hurt yourself than hurt him.”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t expect his father to divulge his words to Xia Jing without any forewarning, leaving him unable to back down. Indeed, his heart was conflicted and in pain, but he couldn’t help it. All he wanted was for his wife to be happy and not sad for any reason.

”Dad, why are you discussing these matters between us and telling them to Xia Jing? You know she doesn’t mean these things; it was all my thinking. Isn’t it enough for you to tell me everything? Telling her makes it difficult for her, doesn’t it? It makes everyone awkward!

Or do you feel embarrassed talking to me as your son?”

”Zhang Zhentian, who allowed you to talk to your dad in this tone? He is an elder. Don’t you know you should respect your elders? Do you think this behavior is appropriate?”

Zhang Zhentian realized he had lost his composure. He hadn’t controlled his emotions well and felt sorry for Old Master Zhang. He had made so many mistakes, but now he was still venting his anger on his father. His heart must be very hurt, right?

Why is he such a failure as a son?

Let all of this be a dream, let everything turn into emptiness, into bubbles, and let no one continue to struggle over what’s right or wrong!
