My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2187: Chapter 2020: Dream Vanished Without a Trace

When two stars begin to tremble, when your pupils learn paragraph divisions, when the love between us is slowly obscured, leaving only darkness, the distance is slowly stretched like a shadow.

Zhang Yichen knows that whatever he says now is useless. He also knows that anything he says now can’t move the woman he loves. The only way is to get his mother, his uncle, his aunt, and his brothers to come out and persuade her; otherwise he’ll end up a lifelong bachelor.

”Today I will make things clear: No matter what decision you make, you will be my wife for life. You can’t escape, so why are we wasting time when we can give each other another chance to live? During the time you lost your memory, weren’t we living quite happily? So why do you treat me and our relationship like this once you’ve regained memory?” Zhang Yichen doesn’t understand why his beloved woman treats him and their relationship this way once she recovers. Does she see their relationship as so fragile, so insignificant? He doesn’t believe these are his beloved woman’s true feelings.

”Giving another chance sounds easy, but when your parents begged you back then, why didn’t you choose to give them another chance? They were together for over ten years, sharing a bed for more than ten years, yet because of one person’s lie, they chose to separate. Why didn’t they decide to give each other another chance? Opportunities aren’t given just like that; once a decision is made, it must be followed through, with no turning back. Your parents should understand this, and if you don’t know what this means, you can ask your parents—they can comprehend it better than us!”

Zhang Yichen secretly sent messages to Xia Jing, his uncle and aunt, and his brothers, hiding from Ran Zhihan, waiting for his family to save his love.

An hour later, Xia Jing arrived at Ran Zhihan’s residence. Xiao Wei, Li Jiayuan, and Lei Jian had all come!

”Zhihan, it was all Auntie’s fault before; Auntie shouldn’t have treated your parents that way. If you’re unwilling to be with my son because of Auntie’s actions, then Auntie apologizes to you, please forgive Auntie and be with my son. He really loves you over these three years. When you hadn’t regained your memory, he already had regained his memory, yet he stayed by your side at all times, believing one day you would feel his love and remember him again. However, you suddenly said those things to him which he cannot accept...” Xia Juan said.

”Auntie, this isn’t your fault; the problem lies between him and me and has nothing to do with anyone. Please don’t interfere. I believe he should understand why I suddenly made such a decision!”

”Child, don’t be like this. Look, everyone came to persuade you, and you should calm down and think carefully whether you truly want to do this. Actually, you know deep inside many things that he said, no one inside is truly happy. You saw that your future mother-in-law just divorced three years ago, and now she comes to persuade you to be with her son. Don’t you know why she’s doing this? She’s treating you as her daughter-in-law; can’t you understand her intentions?” Old Master Zhang said to Ran Zhihan.

Ran Zhihan didn’t expect Zhang Yichen to find all the people who treated her best to persuade her!

”He brought all these elders to make me come back; is there really a need for this?”

”Oh, of course there’s a need. My most beloved woman, my fiancée doesn’t want me anymore. Why can’t I seek help? Why can’t I ask others to help? I believe that deep down, you feel something too. Do you agree that now that you’ve suddenly regained memory, you’re a bit lost, right? Please, give me another chance; don’t let me get hurt this time, okay? We’ve lived together for so long, haven’t these three years changed anything? In these three years, do you know? I hoped every moment that you would regain your memory. I was waiting day and night for the day you would embrace me, and not in a confused state you’ve been. But now that you’ve regained your memory, why are you treating me like this?”

”Zhihan, I know Yichen means a lot to you. He’s my good brother. You’ve experienced so much conflict together; which time did I not help mediate between you two? This time, listen to me too. Don’t do this—it will only hurt yourself, and even those you love will be hurt. Look, everyone came from far away just for you two; do you really have the heart to let them make this journey in vain?” Lei Jian chimed in.

”Lei Jian, I am most grateful to you. During my time studying in the United States, you always kept me company, extended a helpful hand whenever I faced difficulties, and generously assisted me without hesitation. I should say thank you to you; however, this is ultimately about my emotions, and I don’t want to be forced into being with him due to your persuasion. I believe that everyone present understands that marriage, if forced, will certainly not be happy. Rather than letting each other suffer later, why not make the right decision from the start?”

”My dear granddaughter-in-law, can you really bear to see me, your grandpa, lonely at home? You’re such a dutiful child; your kindness is beyond my expectations. Can you stay with Grandpa?”

”Grandpa, even if I’m not your granddaughter-in-law, I can still come to the house and accompany you...”

”I don’t want anyone else; I just want my granddaughter-in-law to accompany me, and my granddaughter-in-law can only be you. Do you really want me to be alone at home? You’re so kind, you wouldn’t bear to see Grandpa alone in hardship, right? If that’s the case, then why can’t you give my grandson a chance, and also give yourselves a chance?”

”Grandpa...”

”Do you think having an old man like me live with you both would be inconvenient? If that’s the case, rest assured that after you both get married, I will move out and live alone. I won’t interfere with your life; you two can live joyfully together!”

Ran Zhihan heard Old Master Zhang’s words and felt anxious inside.

”Grandpa, I didn’t mean that. In my heart, you’re someone who has always treated me well where Ning Xia is; I’ve never felt alone because of that, nor would I feel scared. But this concerns my emotional life, and I don’t want to make a hasty decision. Over all these years, I believe you know what kind of person I am; you should understand that I think twice about every decision, and wouldn’t impulsively make one like that. Given this, why won’t you all give me a little time to consider? Must you force me to give you the answer you want right now? Is that fair to me? Grandpa, in my heart, I see you as my real grandpa and hope you won’t make things difficult for me...”

When the story of our love is only left to be heard and I can no longer find your innocent face, when every second of our lives spins around you, the more persistent the heart, the greater the pain.
