My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2167: Chapter 2000: Destined

Some people are destined to never be close, and he’s hidden his love for her deep within his heart, treating it as a secret.

If all things in the world could overcome and embrace love, then it could fulfill John’s wishes. He forgot how far he was from the shore, or even how dangerous it was, as all of this was unseen.

Time flies so quickly, and in the blink of an eye, three years have passed. In these three years, Zhang Zhentian has relentlessly entangled himself with Xia Jing. Xia Jing had no means to deal with it, and repeatedly filed lawsuits against Zhang Zhentian, but in the end, Zhang Sheng Tian found a way to intercept those lawsuits.

Today, Zhang Sheng Tian once again came to where Xia Jing lived. He knocked on the door, and to his surprise, when it opened, he saw it was Zhang Zhentian, and his heart grew even more displeased. Why was this man in front of him haunting like a persistent spirit? And what could he say for Zhang Zhentian to let him go? He was always hovering around him; how could he go out in the future like this?

”How many times do I have to say it? What do you want me to do? I just want to understand, how do I need to tell you, for you to let me go? I’ve said it countless times; there’s no possible future for us. Why can’t you understand plain language?” Xia Jing no longer felt like speaking gently to Zhang Zhentian; she felt it was a greater burden on her heart, and she shouted at Zhang Zhentian.

”I told you, you’ll never get rid of me in this lifetime. I’m begging you, please come back to me. Is it really so hard for you? Can the ten-plus years of marriage really mean so little to you? You’ve been away from me for too long; do you know how empty and lonely my heart has been these years? I just want someone by my side, even if they have no feelings for me, that would make me happy. I’m not asking for much. I just hope you can come back to be with me, even if it’s just for a year. That would make me happy!”

”No matter how much you embellish your words, there’s no possibility for us anymore. I’m begging you, can you stop tangling with me? Do you know that by clinging onto me, you only make me more disgusted with you? I just find you incredibly frustrating. Do you understand that every time you tangle with me, what does it mean? I haven’t provoked you. Wouldn’t it be better for both of us to live our own ordinary lives? You must cause this disturbance, leaving no one at peace? You now feel that everything I do for you is unacceptable, but did you ever consider how your past actions affected my heart? You never thought about these things. Do you really want to live life according to your whims forever? I neither have the right nor the duty to accommodate your whims. We’re already middle-aged, we have grandchildren. Do you think there is any meaning in clinging onto me bitterly like this? Letting go is also a form of love, you know? If you let me go, I’d only be grateful. I’d think of you as a better man. But by holding onto me and claiming you love me, does it make sense? You’re only making me more disgusted, thinking you’re just a rogue...”

”Whether in your heart I’m a rogue or whatever, I simply don’t want to part with you, what’s wrong with that? I just want to stay by your side. I’ve told you countless times, in this lifetime you can never shake me off. You want to live an ordinary life? Fine, by sticking to you, we’re both living this mundane life. Seeing you every day is enough for me. Don’t you understand my sincerity?”

”Your sincerity? Zhentian, we’ve both made too many mistakes between us. Let’s not continue down this wrong path; let’s return to the right way. Continuing like this does neither of us any good. You’ve seen it, because of an unintentional mistake in the beginning, we ended up like this. Do you still want to keep making mistakes and continue down the wrong path? Life is like playing chess; make one wrong move, and you’ll have endless wrong moves, ultimately leading to complete loss. We’ve made too many mistakes already; I don’t want it to end embarrassingly. I’m conceding, is that okay? I don’t want any further entanglement with you. I just want to live the life I desire peacefully. That would be the biggest blessing for me. I don’t expect any results from you, nor do I expect you to do anything for me. I just want you to give me a chance to live the life I want. Is that too much to ask? Being with you is emotionally exhausting. Every time, I have to consider how this would affect you emotionally. But you’ve never thought it through. You feel carefree and generous by my side because you don’t bear any emotional burden. You haven’t considered my perspective. I worry every day whether I fulfill your expectations. Yet you’ve never wondered how helpless I feel inside. I don’t ask for much, only to live peacefully with the one I love. But you pushed me away ruthlessly; do you think we still have a chance? There’s no chance of turning back, as time has moved on and there’s no turning back.”

”There’s still a way. As long as you agree to be with me again, we could return to those days. I swear this time you won’t have to live with such emotional burdens like before. I will take good care of you, consider your feelings. Could you give me one more chance? Even if it’s just a casual promise to comfort me, I’d be thrilled. I only wish to live as your husband once more!”

”It’s not possible anymore. Whatever the case, I won’t go back to being with you. This is too draining for me. Do you know how exhausting this is? It’s not physical exhaustion but emotional. Yet, I’m still grateful to you, providing color to my life. To be with you, I took on tons of pressure and criticism, but ultimately, I couldn’t reach your resolute heart. You abandoned me without hesitation. It is what it is; let’s stop speaking of going back as time doesn’t reverse. There’s no medicine for regret, what’s done is done!”

If even the ends of the earth can’t keep them apart, it’s not so unbearable. They would still be inseparable, remembering the love they couldn’t have.
