My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2155: Chapter 1988: Buried (Part 2)

Buddha said there are eight sufferings in the world: the cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death, meeting those you resent, and the intense suffering of the five aggregates.

Old Master Zhang heard Li Haixiao say these words, and he really wanted to loudly tell him that actually, the kidney he received was from a kind-hearted person. It was donated by his precious daughter! But Old Master Zhang also knew he couldn’t do that. If he did, the secret of so many years would be revealed in vain. He couldn’t let that happen, nor could he let the truth out due to a moment of carelessness.

However, he also felt that the matter had reached this point. If he didn’t disclose the truth now, it would truly sink into oblivion forever, and no one would ever understand or reveal the truth. He didn’t want his once battle partner on the business field to lose out due to ignorance. He wanted to tell him the truth of the matter, but what would be the outcome if he did tell Li Haixiao?

”Old man, why are you silent? Surely you know the truth about this matter, don’t you? If you do, then tell me, will you? He is my savior; where does he live? I should at least exert a tiny bit of effort. Now I’m already at an old age. I really want to know who saved me back then.

If I go a lifetime without knowing who saved me, I will die with regrets. He saved my life, allowed me to see my grandson come into this world, watch him grow up happily to be excellent, and see my descendants live happily, generation after generation. He’s the one who gave me this feeling. I’m really grateful to him, old man. Even though we fought in the business world for so many years, you wouldn’t want me to leave this world with regrets, right? The fact that you came to see me today shows you still care about me as a friend. Even if we began as rivals, we are now friends...”

Old Master Zhang heard these words and was moved deeply, but he still couldn’t say them aloud. If he did, he wouldn’t know what consequences it might bring. If Li Haixiao listened to him revealing the truth and then left this world suddenly, wouldn’t he have essentially caused the death of a life?

He didn’t dare take responsibility for such matters, but he also couldn’t stand seeing his battle friend looking at him with such pleading eyes. His heart was deeply conflicted; on one hand was his friend, and on the other was the risk of a life. Which should he choose?

If he chose to reveal the truth and this friend left in anger because of it, would the remaining people forgive him? Even if it was something he said impulsively.

”Old man, don’t hesitate any longer. Quickly tell me. Your hesitation is making me anxious. I just want to know who saved me. Is it really so difficult? You can’t even fulfill such a small wish for me? You’d be satisfied only if you saw me leave here with regrets?

If I die with regrets, will your conscience allow you to happily spend your remaining days? I believe it won’t, because you’re a good person. I know every decision you make is incredibly difficult to retract, but could you help me just this once? Consider it a plea from me!”

This was the first time Li Haixiao pleaded with Old Master Zhang. Previously, he would never bow his head to others, yet today he wanted to know who his savior was and lowered himself to ask for help. Should he reveal the truth of the matter, or must he let him leave with regrets for his own satisfaction?

”If I tell you the truth about this matter, you must promise to stay calm. If hearing the truth causes you to leave the world suddenly, any remaining people will never forgive me. By revealing this truth to you, I’ve already taken on the risk of your life. If, after hearing the truth, you leave, I won’t let you off even in the afterlife. I would chase you to interrogate you thoroughly.”

”Alright, alright, as long as you tell me who that person is, I promise to agree to anything you ask. I promise to listen quietly and not get worked up, okay? Just tell me who that person is, and I will be deeply grateful. I just want to know who saved my life. You don’t need to worry so much. I won’t leave this world in anger after hearing the news!”

”Alright, actually, the person is your biological daughter. When she learned you had uremia, she promptly went to the hospital for matching, which took a long time. She couldn’t bear to see you wasting away due to uremia and eventually dying. Your daughter was willing to give up her healthiest heart to save you because, in her heart, she believed her father was the most important person. She refused to let him suffer even a bit of harm. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

Li Haixiao nodded and said: ”I understand now. It turns out my savior was not an anonymous entity but my biological daughter. She sacrificed her healthy heart to save me. No wonder I hadn’t seen her for months; it was because of this reason. No wonder the matching went so quickly; she’s my biological daughter, so it was fast. Heaven called my daughter’s kidney to me, yet I almost ruined her lifelong happiness. How can I face my daughter now?

As a father, I didn’t know she did this. Now that the truth is revealed, how do I face my daughter and tell her I know the truth?”

”I told you the truth just because I didn’t want you to leave this world with regrets, even though we’ve had many unpleasant moments. But you are still my friend, and we’re still family. I hope you consider carefully. You don’t know why, but you should try to live a few more years. If you truly leave, what about the kidney your daughter gave you?”

It is uncertain whether it should be considered fortunate or helpless; carefully hidden mistakes revealed that his deliberate actions were merely to catch me off guard!
