My Alleged Husband

Chapter 150: Chapter 134 Get out of here!_1

Li Jiayuan was holding her child at home, talking to herself, ”Nian Jun, what do you think, why hasn’t your father come back yet? Could it be that he really doesn’t plan to want us two anymore? It’s all Mom’s fault, if it weren’t for Mom, your father wouldn’t have left, and you wouldn’t have ended up fatherless. If your father could come to see us, I’d be willing to do anything!”

Li Haixiao stood outside the door, listening to Li Jiayuan’s words. He sighed deeply, finally understanding just how profound Jiayuan and Xiao Wei’s affection was. Now he, just like Jiayuan, longed for Xiao Wei to come back soon.

”Jiayuan, stop being sentimental, come and eat, who knows, maybe Xiao Wei will be back in a few days?” Li Haixiao coaxed Li Jiayuan.

Li Jiayuan smiled, handed the child over to Li Haixiao, and went upstairs herself.

Having arrived at the Li Family’s front door, Xiao Wei paced back and forth at the entrance, unsure whether to go inside or not. He had rushed out impulsively just after grabbing his coat, all because he missed Li Jiayuan too much!

Xiao Wei stood at the door for a full hour before he finally resolved to push open the gate.

Li Haixiao, holding the child and in the middle of a meal, was stunned to see Xiao Wei enter.

”Dad, I’m back. Are you, are you doing well?” Xiao Wei said softly, looking at the astonished Li Haixiao.

Once Li Haixiao confirmed that it was indeed Xiao Wei, he quickly said, ”You’ve finally come back. Do you know how much Jiayuan has suffered, not eating or sleeping well, missing you every moment? Why did you come back only now? This is your child; look, doesn’t he look just like you?”

Xiao Wei looked at the child in Li Haixiao’s arms—whether the child knew Xiao Wei was his father or what, he just kept smiling at Xiao Wei, nearly melting his heart. How could he be so adorable? Only now did he realize what he had missed!

”Dad, where’s Jiayuan?”

”Upstairs, go see her!”

Turning, Xiao Wei went upstairs and knocked on the bedroom door.

”Dad, I’ve told you I’ve got no appetite, don’t want to eat. Just go ahead and eat; I want to sleep for a while!” Li Jiayuan, not knowing who was knocking, thought it was her father coming up to call her down to dinner, so without lifting her head, she spoke to Xiao Wei.

”You not eating, you planning on becoming an immortal?”

Hearing that familiar voice, Li Jiayuan suddenly lifted her head, and tears started streaming from her eyes.

”Darling, why are you crying? I’m back, aren’t I?” Xiao Wei gently wiped the tears from Li Jiayuan’s eyes.

”Who told you I’m crying? Since you left, why did you come back? Just go, I don’t want to see you, go away!” Li Jiayuan yelled at Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei didn’t leave; he knew there was much grievance in Li Jiayuan’s heart, he couldn’t just abandon her like before. He said to Li Jiayuan, ”Listen to me, let me explain. It’s not what you think, I didn’t intentionally leave you and the child. Look, I’m back now, aren’t I? Can’t you forgive me?”

Li Jiayuan suddenly found it amusing. With a look that was a mix of laughter and tears, she said to Xiao Wei, ”Haven’t you forgotten? A year ago we had an argument, and I begged desperately for you to stay. How did you treat me then? Now that I have given birth to our child, you come back begging for my forgiveness. Xiao Wei, why are you so ruthless in your actions? Do you have any idea what kind of life I’ve lived this past year? Every time I went to the hospital for a prenatal check-up, it was my dad who accompanied me, while everyone else was accompanied by their husbands. Where were you then? When the time came for my child to be born, my dad did everything to get me to the hospital. Where were you during that time? When I was in the operating room, risking my life to give birth to your child, where were you? You have the nerve to come back and say these things to me. Don’t you think it’s too late for you to say this now?”

Hearing Li Jiayuan’s words, Xiao Wei really wanted to retort, but he had no strength to do so. Everything Li Jiayuan was saying was true. What could he say?

”Jiayuan, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have abandoned you and the child. Please, don’t be angry, will you?” Xiao Wei pleaded.

”Xiao Wei, do you really think I, Li Jiayuan, am just some pet that you can call over or send away on a whim? Don’t you think your actions are excessive? Leave, my child has nothing to do with you. He’s the one I, Li Jiayuan, fought to bring into this world—you have no right to have him call you ’Dad’!”

Li Jiayuan’s heart ached with each pulse. She truly wanted Xiao Wei to stay, but she also had her dignity. She didn’t want Xiao Wei to think she was someone who could be easily persuaded.

Seeing Li Jiayuan’s firm stance, Xiao Wei had nothing to say. As he turned to leave, Li Haixiao came up holding the baby.

Watching Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei argue like this, Li Haixiao said, ”Jiayuan, deep down you really hope that Xiao Wei will stay, so why do you say things like this? Xiao Wei, how could you act this way? Do you have any idea how much Jiayuan has suffered because of you? Can’t you say something pleasant and cajole her? You two should take a good look—your child is still so young. Does it really have to come to this? Have you ever considered how this will affect your child when he grows up? You should think about the consequences of your actions!”

”Jiayuan, can’t you hold back your temper a little? If you love him, why do you insist on pretending you don’t care? Don’t you realize how hurtful you’re being?” Li Haixiao said to Li Jiayuan.

”Dad, you witnessed firsthand how I struggled through this year. You know better than anyone how difficult and unbearable this year has been for me. But look at him—he spent the year in the United States, carefree, not even caring about his wife and child. What’s the point of keeping a husband like that?” Li Jiayuan said, crying as she spoke to Li Haixiao, her voice hoarse. ”Dad, do you know how envious I am when I see expecting mothers on the streets accompanied by their husbands? How I wish my husband could be by my side too!”

Li Haixiao didn’t know how to respond, so he stayed silent.

”Xiao Wei, don’t you feel that you’re really quite cruel? When I needed you the most, you weren’t by my side. Now you come back to say these things. Honestly, I don’t even know how I’ve managed to live through this year. Do you understand that because of your departure, I blamed all faults on myself? Indeed, the problem with the cooperative case was my fault, but I never wanted you to leave. Yet, you left without a word. This whole year I’ve lived in a daze, never giving up hope, believing that I could wait for the day you’d come back no matter how hard or long it would be. I believed I could do it because I had our child with me. Reflecting on it now, I find myself foolish. But I have no regrets. Do you know that falling in love with you, marrying you was the greatest happiness of my life? Of course, there were bumps along the way. I never imagined you would one day walk away from me and our child, and not look back...”

Xiao Wei was speechless.

”Nian Jun, haha, it’s ironic that I’ve given our child the nickname Nian Jun. I don’t even know why I should miss you now!”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Wei quickly asked, ”Does that mean the child doesn’t have an official name yet?”

”What’s it to you?” Li Jiayuan doused Xiao Wei with a bucket of cold water without mercy.

”How about we name the child Lei Jian? It means ’stronger than gold.’”

Li Jiayuan paused, taken aback. She had never known Xiao Wei’s real name. Now she finally knew his full name was Lei Jian Wei.

Li Jiayuan turned and walked away without a word, and Xiao Wei had no choice but to check into a hotel to wait until Li Jiayuan wasn’t angry anymore to see her again. Xiao Wei watched Nian Jun leave, reluctant to part.
