My Alleged Husband

Chapter 122: Chapter 106: Where’s the Big Gift?_2

After Xia Jing came to her senses, she flashed Zhang Zhentian a smile. That smile was so brilliant that Zhang Zhentian thought Xia Jing felt that what he said was right, so she was smiling at him. However, the unbelievable part was yet to come.

”For what you said, I have a big reward for you!” Xia Jing stated calmly to Zhang Zhentian.

Zhang Zhentian perked up even more when he heard that, eagerly anticipating what Xia Jing’s gift might be.

”The gift is—starting tonight, we’ll be sleeping in separate rooms!” After saying that, Xia Jing didn’t forget to give Zhang Zhentian another smile.

Xiao Wei hadn’t expected his Elder Sister Xia to have such a domineering side.

Li Jiayuan couldn’t believe that Zhang Zhentian was—under the thumb of his wife!

Zhang Zhentian hadn’t expected the gift Xia Jing referred to would be this.

He regretted it now. Why on earth did he say that? Now look at what happened. Just when Xia Jing had finally forgiven him, and he could finally embrace her when they slept at night, they’d have to go back to how things were before. He really was not asking for trouble! Oh heavens, why couldn’t his brain be a bit smarter? Now look, he’d jumped right into the pit so carelessly.

”Brother-in-law, I didn’t expect you to be so bold; even daring to say something about your own wife, hahaha...” Xiao Wei laughed mischievously, while Zhang Zhentian was brewing with anger inside. He knew he’d been goaded into saying those things by Xiao Wei, so he turned his head away, not even looking at Xiao Wei.

”Sis, Brother-in-law was just joking. Don’t take it to heart,” Li Jiayuan said hurriedly, wanting to shift from the awkwardness of the moment. ”By the way, the wedding is about to begin. I wonder how the preparations for the big gift you two have prepared are going?”

”You always think about the big gift. Do you really think I wouldn’t give you one?” Xia Jing teased Li Jiayuan with a chuckle.

Xia Jing held out her hand towards Zhang Zhentian, who said to her, ”As long as you take back what you just said, I’ll give you the gift, otherwise... humph!”

Zhang Zhentian wanted to use this opportunity to make Xia Jing take back her words. He had truly realized that if he couldn’t hold Xia Jing while sleeping at night, it would feel worse than throwing himself off a building.

Xia Jing was adamant, stretching out her hand in midair, but Zhang Zhentian was no less stubborn. He wanted Xia Jing to retract her words before giving her the gift.

Left with no choice, Xia Jing ultimately conceded, ”Alright, I take back what I said just now. Can you give me the gift now?”

Only then did Zhang Zhentian, all smiles, hand over the gift to Xia Jing.

Xia Jing took from Zhang Zhentian’s hands an envelope which contained a development contract for the western suburb.

Li Jiayuan opened it to find inside the cooperation project her father had always hoped to clinch but had ultimately been scooped up by Zhang Corporation. Originally, this project wasn’t even meant to be a Zhang Corporation collaboration. However, as competitors with Li Corporation at the time, Old Master Zhang, to prevent Li Haixiao from surpassing him, used his personal assets to secure the project. After Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing got married, followed by Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan’s wedding, Xia Jing remembered how Old Master Zhang had snatched up this cooperation project. To give her brother Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan a wedding surprise, she proactively sought out Old Master Zhang to get the contract. She presented this multi-million-dollar contract as a wedding present to Xiao Wei, not merely as a gift but also to signal to Li Haixiao that Xiao Wei was her brother Xia Jing, and no matter what happened in the future, Xiao Wei would always have his sister to back him up, and no one was allowed to bully him lightly.

”Is this the western project cooperation case?” Li Jiayuan asked in astonishment.

Zhang Zhentian smiled at Li Jiayuan and said, ”Isn’t this the project your dad has always wanted to secure? My dad used his private assets to take over the project, preventing your dad from outdoing him. Now, we are giving you this contract as a wedding present.”

Li Jiayuan could hardly believe her ears. After all, this was a contract worth millions. To just give it away for nothing?

”Brother-in-law, are you teasing me? This thing is worth millions; you’re just giving it to us like this?”

”Are you saying the gift is too insignificant?” Zhang Zhentian retorted.

”No, no, no, the gift is truly generous. Thank you, Sister, Brother-in-law,” Li Jiayuan said, hastily thanking Zhang Zhentian.

Zhang Zhentian told Li Jiayuan, ”Don’t be too quick to thank me. This contract isn’t just a wedding present. I also want to take this opportunity to tell you that Xiao Wei is my and Xia Jing’s brother. I don’t want that after you two get married, if Xiao Wei doesn’t bring any valuables into your family, your dad starts plotting to bully him. From today onwards, he is my and Xia Jing’s family member. If you bully him, don’t blame me for not considering our acquaintance when I decide to take over Li Corporation.”

Zhang Zhentian’s words carried a threat.

Li Jiayuan was taken aback.

Xia Jing was also taken aback; she hadn’t expected Zhang Zhentian to be so upfront about conveying the message and purpose of her actions.

Xiao Wei was stunned.

Oh my, am I hallucinating? Zhang Zhentian was actually speaking up for me? No, no, no, I must be hallucinating. How could Zhang Zhentian be so kind to stand up for me?

”Brother-in-law, rest assured; I won’t let my dad treat him that way, not because of this contract, but because he is my husband, Li Jiayuan!” Li Jiayuan insisted.
