My Alleged Husband

Chapter 116: Chapter 103: Taking the Lead_2

Xiao Wei held Li Jiayuan’s hand as they entered the Zhang Family’s home. Aunt Xu poured a glass of water for Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan, then hurriedly ran upstairs.

”Thud thud thud...” Aunt Xu knocked on Xia Jing’s bedroom door.

Zhang Zhentian was in Xia Jing’s room giving her a massage. He had no intention of answering the door yet, when Xia Jing spoke to him, ”Zhentian, what are you spacing out for? Hurry and answer the door!”

Zhang Zhentian made a face at Xia Jing and said, ”All right, since the missus has spoken, how can I not answer the door? Just sit here and wait for me to come back to continue your massage.”

Zhang Zhentian walked towards the door. When he opened it, he saw Aunt Xu standing at the doorway. He asked her, ”Aunt Xu, what’s the matter?”

”Zhentian, someone claiming to be Xia Jing’s brother has come to visit her.”

Zhang Zhentian was caught off guard and asked, ”Isn’t Xia Jing an orphan? Where did she get a brother from?”

”It’s the guy who was holding Xia Jing at the wedding, and the girl who was standing by your side at that time is also here!” Aunt Xu explained to Zhang Zhentian. Upon hearing this, he understood who had come.

”Xia Jing, Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan are here to see you. Do you want to come down for a bit?” Zhang Zhentian turned and shouted to Xia Jing.

As soon as Xia Jing heard that Xiao Wei and Jiayuan had come, she excitedly jumped out of bed, put on her shoes and ran downstairs.

”Can’t you slow down a bit? Are you that excited?” Zhang Zhentian grabbed Xia Jing’s hand and said to her.

Xia Jing thought about it, and she was right; she was pregnant now and couldn’t get too excited. So, Xia Jing slowed down and, holding Zhang Zhentian’s hand, they took one step at a time towards the downstairs living room.

”Xiao Wei, Jiayuan, you’re here.” As soon as Xia Jing saw that Xiao Wei had come to visit her, she couldn’t contain her excitement. Ever since she got married, she had been staying at home to conceive. Now that she was finally pregnant, she still couldn’t go out. One secret trip out had resulted in Zhang Zhentian getting scolded. Now she had no freedom in this house; she couldn’t go anywhere. Now that someone had come to talk to her, how could she not be happy?

” Elder Sister Xia, how have you been recently?” Xiao Wei asked Xia Jing. The instant he saw her, he realized that Li Jiayuan was right; Xia Jing really did look thinner.

”I’m great! Don’t I look like I’ve gained weight?” Xia Jing said cheerfully to Xiao Wei.

”Are you sure you’ve really gained weight and not lost it? Elder Sister Xia, in my heart, you are my real sister. After living together for so many years, how could I not know whether you’ve lost or gained weight? Just look at yourself, what’s become of you? Tell me, is it Zhang Zhentian who’s been mistreating you?”

Xia Jing thought about it, and she was right. Having lived with Xiao Wei for so many years, seeing each other every day, how could he not know if she had lost weight?

”No, I’m fine; stop worrying about me.”

Xiao Wei ignored Xia Jing. He knew that as soon as he mentioned Zhang Zhentian, she would surely speak up for Zhang Zhentian. So, he decided not to bother with Xia Jing and go directly to Zhang Zhentian instead.

”Zhang Zhentian, oh no, I should call you brother-in-law now. Brother-in-law, I want to ask you something. How have you been taking care of my sister? She’s gotten so thin, and you don’t even notice?”

Xiao Wei had a temper, of course, provided that someone had hurt his loved ones. Then, he wouldn’t be soft-hearted towards that person!

Zhang Zhentian was left speechless by Xiao Wei’s questioning. Over this past month, he had been sleeping with Xia Jing every night and hadn’t noticed at all that she had lost weight.

Seeing Zhang Zhentian speechless, Xiao Wei sneered and said to him, ”That’s the kind of person you are, huh? When you needed my sister to save your company, you treated her like a treasure. Now that you don’t need her, you mistreat her. Is this how you act as a husband? Not even caring that your wife is pregnant, always fooling around. If I were my sister, I’d say I was blind to have fancied you. A person like you doesn’t deserve my sister’s love at all. You’re nothing but scum...”

Xiao Wei’s words became increasingly harsh, and Zhang Zhentian felt angry inside but was unable to retort. He knew very well that all of this was his own doing; he was the one who had made Xia Jing sad, so it was only right for him to be worthlessly scolded by Xiao Wei.

Xia Jing couldn’t bear to listen anymore.

Li Jiayuan had never expected Xiao Wei to be so eloquent. She thought that in the future, she definitely couldn’t provoke Xiao Wei; otherwise, she would be the one to suffer.

Aunt Xu watched as Xiao Wei scolded Zhang Zhentian without any mercy. She wanted to interject, but she didn’t know what to say.

She herself knew what kind of life Xia Jing had been living for over a month.

Although Xia Jing was very happy that Xiao Wei stood up for her, she didn’t want Xiao Wei’s relationship with Zhang Zhentian to become tense because of her. So, she quickly spoke up, ”Xiao Wei, stop it. This is all the path I chose. What can I say? Zhentian has changed. When you came, he was upstairs massaging me!”

Zhang Zhentian gave a wooden nod towards Xiao Wei, understanding that Xia Jing was helping him.

”Really?” Xiao Wei asked with a skeptical tone.

”Really. You’re going to be an uncle soon. Can’t you be a bit less reckless in the future?” Xia Jing couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei acted as if he hadn’t seen it and walked a step closer to Zhang Zhentian, saying, ”I’m calling you brother-in-law now for my sister’s sake. Forgiving you is also for my sister. If I find out you mistreat my sister or do something that hurts her in the future, don’t blame me for being unkind. I can tolerate anything, but the one thing I can’t stand is someone bullying the people I care about...”

Zhang Zhentian looked at Xiao Wei, feeling a bit afraid, and could only nod repeatedly at him.
