My Alleged Husband

Chapter 133: Chapter 117 Discharge Hot Pot_1

Time really flies, Li Jiayuan had been in the hospital for almost a week, and today she could finally be discharged. She had been unwilling to stay in the hospital for a long time because she felt the smell of disinfectant was too strong. During her week-long stay, she had been clamoring to go home every day, but Li Haixiao and Xiao Wei just wouldn’t agree. They insisted on having her stay a few more days to observe her condition properly, driving Li Jiayuan nearly to the brink of collapse.

Xiao Wei knew that Li Jiayuan was feeling bored in the hospital over the week and wanted to leave early, so as soon as dawn broke today, Xiao Wei was all set at home, ready to pick Li Jiayuan up and take her home.

When Xiao Wei arrived at the hospital, Li Jiayuan had just woken up. Seeing Xiao Wei coming, she was overjoyed; she could finally go home.

”Dear, you’ve finally come, that’s great, I’m really so happy today. Do you know that this week I spent in the hospital I almost grew moldy? The moment I thought about being discharged today, I felt like I was coming back to life from hell. You can’t understand that feeling, I’m really so happy...” Li Jiayuan rushed over and hugged Xiao Wei, speaking to him.

Xiao Wei looked at Li Jiayuan like this, and he didn’t know what to say. Was it really such a big deal to stay in the hospital for a few days? Why did it seem like she had been to jail?

”Jiayuan, why do I feel like you treat the hospital like a prison cell? How come staying in the hospital a few days makes you seem like you’re getting out of prison? Is it really necessary?” Xiao Wei genuinely didn’t understand what Li Jiayuan was thinking. Could staying in the hospital be that terrible? Why hadn’t he felt scared at all when he was hospitalized?

Xiao Wei remembered when he went back to have his arm properly set again, he hadn’t felt anything scary at all. Instead, he felt quite happy that his arm was finally back in its place.

”Of course, you don’t think that I haven’t gone out at all while I was here. Every day, you and Dad keep me confined here, fearing I’ll make trouble if I go out. Really, I don’t know what you are thinking. I’m already an adult, yet you treat me like a child. How can I feel happy about that?” Li Jiayuan started to complain. She truly didn’t want to stay here any longer.

”Dear, don’t say anything else for now. Let’s just get out of the hospital’s front door first, can we?” Li Jiayuan pleaded with Xiao Wei, who was being really talkative lately, fussing over the smallest things.

Li Jiayuan didn’t want her long-awaited discharge to be soured by Xiao Wei’s incessant chatter, killing her mood to go out before they even left the hospital.

Helpless, Xiao Wei still wanted to say something to Li Jiayuan, but she didn’t give him a chance to speak. Taking hold of Xiao Wei’s hand, she hurried outside, not even caring about her belongings. All she could think about was getting out, not continuing to stay in this suffocating place.

”Alright, alright, let’s go out then, but once we are out, you have to let me finish speaking, deal?” Xiao Wei said to Li Jiayuan. He wasn’t distrusting her, but he felt that if he kept on nagging in her ear, she would definitely find him annoying. Thus, he decided to set the terms with her before they left!

”Fine, as long as I can leave this place quickly, whatever you say goes!”

Li Jiayuan agreed readily to Xiao Wei because she really wanted to go out so badly.

Half an hour later, Xiao Wei finished all the discharge formalities and then took Li Jiayuan away from the hospital.

Outside the hospital gates.

As soon as Li Jiayuan reached the gates, she spread her arms wide and took several deep breaths. She felt that, at this moment, her whole body had relaxed, a sensation she hadn’t felt in a long time.

Seeing how happy Li Jiayuan was, Xiao Wei also felt joyful from the bottom of his heart. He thought that perhaps this was what it felt like to love someone; as long as the person he loved was happy, he would be too, and if she wasn’t, he would not be able to be happy either!

”How is it, Jiayuan, doesn’t the air outside feel so comfortable? Is it much better than the air inside the hospital?” Xiao Wei touched Li Jiayuan’s hair gently, asking her with a smile.

”Hmm, do you know, the moment I stepped out, I realized how beautiful the world is, so much better than inside the hospital. I want to go out and have a big meal now; how about we go eat hot pot?” Li Jiayuan had been eating almost nothing but chicken, fish, pork rib soup... in the hospital for a week. She felt like she had almost had enough but didn’t want to say it, in case it would discourage Xiao Wei!

Xiao Wei heard what Li Jiayuan said and couldn’t help but want to ask her if she thought the food he made wasn’t tasty. Why else would she want to go out for hotpot? Shouldn’t his cooking be more hygienic? But Xiao Wei didn’t know if he should ask...

Li Jiayuan laughed to herself for a while. Seeing that Xiao Wei wasn’t paying attention to her and had a preoccupied look on his face, she patted Xiao Wei on the shoulder and asked, ”Xiao Wei, why aren’t you talking?”

Xiao Wei hadn’t heard what Li Jiayuan had said to him; he was still wrestling with whether or not to ask her about it.

Coming back to his senses, Xiao Wei responded to Li Jiayuan, ”Ah, Jiayuan, what did you just say?”

Li Jiayuan looked at Xiao Wei thoughtfully, feeling that the man before her was acting quite strange. How could he not have heard her speaking?

”Xiao Wei, come clean with me. Are you hiding something from me?” Li Jiayuan stared intently at Xiao Wei with an expression akin to interrogating a suspect.

Xiao Wei was amused by Li Jiayuan’s expression and said to her, ”Wife, do you know how funny you look with that expression? Why would you think that? How could I possibly have secrets from you? You’re my wife, I would definitely tell you everything, don’t you think?”

Li Jiayuan didn’t believe Xiao Wei; how could someone without worries be so distracted?

”Really, there’s nothing?” Li Jiayuan asked again.

”Really, there’s nothing!” Xiao Wei felt truly at a loss with Li Jiayuan.

Suddenly, Li Jiayuan felt that Xiao Wei was being completely dishonest. Even though he obviously had something on his mind, he wouldn’t share it with her, which made her feel quite upset. She smiled radiantly at Xiao Wei and said without a change in her expression, ”If that’s the case, then please tell me what you were just thinking about? Don’t tell me there was nothing on your mind. When I was talking to you earlier, you didn’t even react. It’s clear you’re preoccupied with something. Confess and you’ll be treated leniently, resist and it’ll be worse for you. Before you speak, think carefully, because there’s no such thing as a regret medicine in this world...”

Xiao Wei originally wanted to keep it to himself, but hearing Li Jiayuan say all this, he knew she was unhappy. Now he was really conflicted, to tell or not to tell?

”Why aren’t you talking? If you don’t want to speak, then just stay home. You can sleep in the living room tonight [smile/smile]!” Li Jiayuan was unyielding as she said this to Xiao Wei, who hadn’t expected Li Jiayuan to be serious.

He didn’t want to sleep in the living room, so he said to Li Jiayuan, ”Wife, I was just thinking, when you said you wanted to go for hotpot, I was wondering if it meant that you didn’t like the food I cooked. That’s why you wanted to go out for hotpot [upset/upset]!”

Li Jiayuan was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Xiao Wei to feel that saying she wanted to eat hotpot was a critique of his cooking. Was he silly? When had she ever said his food wasn’t tasty?

”Ahem, you know, Xiao Wei, I didn’t mean that. I just suddenly felt like eating something spicy, and I haven’t had hotpot in a long while, so that’s why I mentioned it. Don’t read too much into it...” Li Jiayuan explained to Xiao Wei awkwardly.

”Really, it’s nothing?” Xiao Wei looked at Li Jiayuan with a burst of relief.

”Yes, let’s go have dinner. Our son is hungry too!”

Hand in hand, the two of them set out for hotpot...
