My Alleged Husband

Chapter 109: Chapter 99 Zhang Mo’s Furious Rage_2

...

Aunt Xu, listening from her own bedroom to Old Master Zhang and Zhang Zhentian arguing back and forth, didn’t want to interfere unnecessarily. However, she also didn’t want Zhang Zhentian to be at odds with his father. She opened the door and stepped out, addressing Old Master Zhang, ”Old Master, please, both of you stop arguing. Xia Jing said she just went out to buy some things and would be right back; she also mentioned she might look for Miss Jiayuan, so there’s no need for you to worry!” Upon hearing Aunt Xu already knew, Old Master Zhang immediately redirected his anger at her, bellowing, ”Aunt Xu, if you knew all along, why didn’t you say something sooner? Why did you wait until Zhentian and I were at each other’s throats before you spoke up? What are your intentions?”

”Old Master, how could I possibly have any ulterior motives? It’s not the first or second time you and Zhentian have had a quarrel; I thought it would be just like before, a few words exchanged and then over with, so I didn’t step forward. But I heard from my room that you and Zhentian were still arguing without end, and that’s why I came out to tell you. I just don’t want to see you and your son become estranged. If I truly had other intentions, why wouldn’t I just let you continue arguing? As long as the two of you kept on, your relationship would definitely deteriorate, and if that were the case, then my ulterior motives would have become reality, wouldn’t they? Besides, when Xia Jing left, I did tell her that the Old Master forbade her from going, but she didn’t listen and insisted on leaving. I couldn’t physically stop her, after all, she is one of the owners of this home...” Aunt Xu never expected Old Master Zhang to accuse her unjustly. It hurt her deeply. She had been with the Zhang Family for thirty years, working there even before Zhang Zhentian was born. In all these years, Old Master Zhang never doubted her or spoke to her in such a tone. Aunt Xu felt completely unappreciated. If she had known that all Old Master Zhang cared about was Xia Jing and the child she was carrying, she wouldn’t have dared let Xia Jing leave, even if Xia Jing held a knife to her throat!

”Alright, then tell me why Xia Jing has been out for so long without returning?” Old Master Zhang went back to worrying over the same issue; he was determined to find out where Xia Jing had gone and why she still hadn’t returned.

”Old Master, I don’t know about that. She should be back shortly, she’s been gone for a while now!”

...

The household was on the verge of turning upside-down over Xia Jing’s baffling departure, but Xia Jing herself was blissfully unaware. She was thoroughly enjoying herself shopping for clothes, smiling so broadly her mouth never closed once. She was all smiles.

”Could you please wrap up this piece of clothing for me?” Xia Jing said to the sales associate.

”Certainly, just a moment please!” The sales associate was impressively quick. In mere seconds, she had all the clothes Xia Jing had chosen nicely packaged!

”Miss, your clothes!” the sales associate said, handing them over to Xia Jing, who didn’t speak but waved her hand, and the associate set down the clothes she was holding, walking toward Xia Jing.

”This one, this one, and this one... wrap them all up, I’ll take everything!” Xia Jing announced authoritatively to the sales associate.

The sales associate was over the moon. She hadn’t expected Xia Jing to be so affluent, purchasing items without hesitation. These weren’t just any ordinary clothes; they were the newest designs, unique in the whole world, each with a price tag well into six figures. Xia Jing picked them up casually, clearly not an average customer.

As the sales associate packed the clothes for Xia Jing, she covertly counted twelve pieces in total, amounting to more than ten million in cost. The associate had never seen such a generous purchase before; today, her bonus would be substantial!

When Xia Jing paid, she handed a gold card to the sales associate. After settling the bill, she carried her purchases back to the Zhang Family home. Pushing open the door upon arrival, she found Zhang Zhentian, Old Master Zhang, and Aunt Xu all sitting in the living room, waiting for her return.

”I’m back!” Xia Jing announced to everyone in the living room.

”Good to have you back. Xia Jing, did you buy so much stuff? Aren’t you tired? Why didn’t you call Zhentian to pick you up?” Old Master Zhang had originally wanted to scold Xia Jing, but as soon as he saw all the items in her hands, he quickly shifted to expressing his concern.

”Dad, I’m fine. I didn’t want to trouble you and Zhentian with your affairs, so I came back on my own. Look, these are all clothes I bought for the baby!” Xia Jing said cheerily to Old Master Zhang.

Zhang Zhentian felt quite irritated at the side. What kind of wife comes home and chats with her father-in-law without paying any attention to her husband?

”Dear wife, may I ask if you shouldn’t greet your husband first when you come home?” Zhang Zhentian said to Xia Jing, full of jealousy.

Xia Jing understood what Zhang Zhentian meant. He was just jealous. It was simple. With a smile, Xia Jing responded, ”Dear husband, then why didn’t you, seeing your wife carrying so much, have the heart to come help me? After all, I’m carrying our son in my belly!”

Xia Jing truly was formidable. She seldom had the opportunity to command Zhang Zhentian, but now she could fully exploit the situation thanks to the baby in her belly, bossing him around whenever she liked.

”Don’t think you can give me orders just because you’re pregnant!” Zhang Zhentian retorted with a hint of threat in his voice.

”Dad, look, Zhentian is threatening me!” Xia Jing appealed to Old Master Zhang, feigning tears.

”Zhang Zhentian, what’s the matter with you? Why can’t Xia Jing order you around? Listen to me, you must take good care of Xia Jing from now on. If she’s even slightly unhappy, I won’t let it slide. I, Zhang Mo, am not to be trifled with. To think you don’t know how to cherish your own wife, it’s truly useless!”
