My Alleged Husband

Chapter 136: 120 Chapters I’ve figured it out_1

Although Xia Jingyi kept persuading Li Jiayuan, and Li Jiayuan felt that Xia Jingyi made a lot of sense, she still couldn’t accept her father’s sudden treatment of her, not even if it was because of his love for her!

”Elder Sister Xia, I think what you’re saying makes a lot of sense, but I still can’t accept this abrupt change. You should know what kind of person I, Li Jiayuan, am, so I need some time to think about it properly. You should get some rest, I won’t bother you anymore. Once I’ve figured it out, I’ll come and find you!” Li Jiayuan didn’t want to continue discussing this issue with Xia Jingyi. She really needed to think it through, to discern if what she was doing was right or wrong!

”Jiayuan, wait a moment, I have a few last words to say!” Xia Jingyi stopped Li Jiayuan. There were still a few things she hadn’t said, how could she let Li Jiayuan hang up the phone just like that?

”Go ahead, I’m listening.”

”Jiayuan, I see things a bit differently from you. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with staying at home. The food, drinks, and all the necessities, Zhentian and Dad have prepared everything for me. I just need to eat, isn’t that quite easy? Do you think that makes sense? Alright, I’ve said all I wanted to say. Have a good rest, I’m going to hang up now!” Xia Jingyi said and then took the initiative to hang up the phone.

In the following days, Li Jiayuan started on her path of reflecting on her life.

Xiao Wei was the same as always, preparing food for Li Jiayuan every day. Li Haixiao still left early every morning and only returned home at a leisurely pace after sorting out his affairs!

As the days passed by, Li Haixiao had still not lifted the grounding imposed on Li Jiayuan, and Xiao Wei had argued with her several times over this matter.

Each time ended in failure. Xiao Wei truly hoped that Li Jiayuan could clear her thoughts due to Xia Jingyi’s persuasion and realize how she should act, instead of constantly disagreeing with her own family.

In the blink of an eye, a whole week went by without notice!

After much thought, Li Jiayuan felt she should face her mistakes and not evade the responsibilities she should bear.

”Xiao Wei, I think I should apologize to you for the way I treated you that day. I hope you don’t mind. I’m just like that, sometimes I can’t even control my own temper, so...” Li Jiayuan touched her head awkwardly, unsure of how to continue with Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei smiled at Li Jiayuan indulgently and said, ”Are you silly? I’m your husband, how could I mind? Besides, I understand how you feel. If I were suddenly grounded, I would be upset too.”

Li Jiayuan was moved by Xiao Wei’s understanding and empathetic nature. She threw herself into Xiao Wei’s arms, hugging him tightly.

Xiao Wei was taken aback.

”Jiayuan, Xiao Wei, come down for dinner!”

Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei were about to exchange sweet nothings, but Li Haixiao’s voice came calling from below.

Xiao Wei was also contemplating some mischief, but now he felt embarrassed to continue such thoughts. If they didn’t go down soon, Li Haixiao might just come up looking for them. To avoid such an awkward situation, it was better to go down voluntarily!

The two of them went down to the living room very swiftly. Li Haixiao was about to come up and they had just come down.

”Now that you’re here, let’s eat!”

”All right!”

The conversations between Li Haixiao and Li Jiayuan had been so simple this past week, as neither wanted to say more than necessary to the other. However, today Li Jiayuan had come to a realization. She spoke up to Li Haixiao, ”Dad, I’m sorry. It was careless of me. I shouldn’t have eaten spicy food while pregnant. I should have thought about the baby, about your feelings. When you were talking to me that day, I shouldn’t have answered back. Everything you said was for my good, yet I accused you of only caring about the baby and not leaving any space in your heart for me. In truth, this was my mistake. I know that, in your heart, I’ve always been your good daughter. You still love me just as much as you used to. I always thought I was a broad-minded person, but even I hadn’t expected that one day I would be jealous of my own child... Dad, your daughter knows she was wrong. I won’t do this ever again. Please, don’t be angry with me any longer!”

Li Haixiao never imagined that Li Jiayuan would say these things to him. She had never been this considerate before. Could it be that she truly had a moment of clarity?

Li Haixiao found it a bit hard to believe that his seemingly simple-minded daughter could have figured out so quickly where the fault lay, unless someone had advised her!

”Jiayuan, I want to know how you came to understand all this all of a sudden?” Li Haixiao asked seemingly nonchalantly, but deep down he was eager to hear Li Jiayuan’s response.

”Dad, I won’t lie to you, I didn’t come to this realization so easily. But after talking with Xia Jing, I thought what she said made a lot of sense. And after reflecting over these past few days, I recognized that the problem indeed lay with me, but instead, I took my anger out on Xiao Wei because you grounded me. Xiao Wei didn’t hold it against me. You and Xiao Wei both love me so much, how could I hurt you or Xiao Wei? You are the dearest people to me!”

Wow, the sun really did rise from the west today. Could Li Jiayuan actually say such touching words?

”Dad, please don’t blame Jiayuan for this. After all, I also share some responsibility. If I had stopped her from eating those things at the time, you wouldn’t have been angry, and Jiayuan wouldn’t have been grounded!”

”All right, Jiayuan, by telling me all this today, are you hoping that I’ll lift your grounding?” Li Haixiao asked thoughtfully.

Li Jiayuan knew Li Haixiao would ask her this, but what he didn’t know was that if Li Jiayuan had truly understood, she wouldn’t care about being grounded any longer!

”Dad, do you really have so little faith in me? Even if I, Li Jiayuan, lack understanding, I know that all you do is for my good. I agree with what Xia Jing said, why worry about whether I can go out anytime? Isn’t staying at home better? Here, I have my father, who has always cared for me, and my loving husband. Why wouldn’t I want that?” Li Jiayuan said with a smile to Li Haixiao, ”Dad, rest assured, I will never let anything harm my child, and I won’t just think about going shopping all the time. After all, staying home with you means I won’t go hungry, right?”

”I’m glad you understand. Don’t do this again in the future. I would never harm you. You are my most beloved daughter, and everything I do is for your benefit,” Li Haixiao said earnestly to Li Jiayuan. ”Okay, let’s eat now. In the future, if you want to go out, you can have Xiao Wei accompany you, but you must be careful!”

Li Jiayuan hadn’t expected her father to end up lifting her grounding after all.

”Dad, thank you. It’s my fault for making you worry so much. Don’t worry, from now on, I will never let you down,” Li Jiayuan said to Li Haixiao.

Li Haixiao felt that Li Jiayuan’s words were enough. He didn’t expect her to repay him in the future; all he wanted was to live a few more years, to spend more time with Li Jiayuan and the family. That alone was enough for Li Haixiao!

”Jiayuan, you must never forget what you said today!” Li Haixiao reminded her.

”I know, Dad!”

Xiao Wei was genuinely happy for Li Jiayuan that she and her father had reconciled. After all, happiness comes when a family lives together in harmony.

That dinner was truly delicious for the family of Li Jiayuan!

Li Jiayuan felt that this dinner was really enjoyable. It had been a long time since she had tasted such happiness in food. For the whole week, every dinner involved cautious glances, which was truly exhausting. Now that misunderstandings had been cleared and the grounding lifted, how could Li Jiayuan not be happy? She felt that she really should thank Xia Jing; without her earnest advice, Li Jiayuan might not have been able to see things so clearly so soon and reconcile with her father!
