My Alleged Husband

Chapter 124: Chapter 108 Don’t Stop Me from Entering the Bridal Chamber_1

Li Haixiao, all smiles, welcomed Old Master Zhang inside. To him, Old Master Zhang was now not only an honored guest but also a savior! He truly could not afford to offend Old Master Zhang’s family at this point, especially Xia Jing. In his heart, Xia Jing was now like his ancestral deity because she was Old Master Zhang’s Achilles’ heel. Old Master Zhang now valued Xia Jing, his daughter-in-law, above all else.

Another half-hour passed, and the guests had all taken their seats.

The wedding host walked onto the stage, microphone in hand.

”Ladies and gentlemen, friends and family, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend the wedding ceremony of our soon-to-be groom, Xiao Wei, and soon-to-be bride, Li Jiayuan, today. First, let’s welcome with a warm round of applause the father of our protagonists today, the founder of Li Corporation, Mr. Li Haixiao, to come to the stage and offer his wedding blessings to his daughter and son-in-law!”

At the host’s command, everyone erupted into enthusiastic applause for Li Haixiao, who made his way to the podium step by step, supporting himself with a cane. He was thrilled, at a loss for what he could say to his daughter on stage...

”I am very grateful to everyone for attending my daughter and son-in-law’s wedding ceremony. I want to thank you all here. Today, I am delighted to be able to stand here and speak, and I don’t want to say anything else. I want to say to Jiayuan: Jiayuan, it’s been more than two decades, and no matter how willful you have been, your dad has always indulged you. But today, you are getting married. Dad hopes that from now on, you can be a virtuous wife and loving mother, and not as willful as before. Now, I want to say a few words to my son-in-law: Xiao Wei, Jiayuan is the daughter I have raised with all my effort. I hope that no matter what she does wrong in the future, you can forgive her and not let this foolish girl who spared no effort for you cry for you again. Jiayuan, Xiao Wei, Dad is very happy you can become partners. I hope you both remember that in a lifetime, you will meet countless people, but not many can become husband and wife in this vast human world. I hope you can love and support each other for life, and Dad here gives you eight words: ’When husband and wife unite, their resolve can cut through metal.’ Dad blesses you!”

Li Haixiao’s passionate speech on stage moved Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei, who were still in the resting room.

Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian, sitting in the audience, felt deeply moved by Li Haixiao’s blessings to Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei. After all, who doesn’t want the people they care about to be happy and safe?

”Now, please welcome our protagonists for today. A round of applause, please!”

Xiao Wei was the first to appear on site. Quietly, Li Haixiao turned to leave. Now, he had to find Li Jiayuan; he wanted to personally hand her over to Xiao Wei, as was their local wedding custom.

Step by step, Xiao Wei made his way to the front of the stage, and he turned to look at the people who had come to his wedding.

”Now, please welcome our beautiful bride onto the stage!” the host called out once again.

Li Jiayuan, holding onto Li Haixiao’s arm and stepping to the rhythm of a beautiful melody, appeared on site. She had specially chosen a piano piece for her wedding — ”Wedding in the Dream”. It was a beautiful piece that fully portrayed a young girl’s desires for marriage.

Xiao Wei, standing like a gentleman at the end of the red carpet, awaited the arrival of the princess of his life.

Li Jiayuan approached Xiao Wei, smiling incessantly at him.

”Xiao Wei, I entrust Jiayuan to you!” Li Haixiao said, reluctant to let go of Li Jiayuan’s hand as he placed it in Xiao Wei’s.

”Dad, don’t worry, I will take good care of Jiayuan,” Xiao Wei assured Li Haixiao.

”We are now entering the formal part of the ceremony. Handsome groom, do you take this beautiful girl before you to be your wife?” the host asked Xiao Wei.

”I do, and not only that, but in this life, I will love only Li Jiayuan. I will never do anything to let her down. I will protect her and take care of her my whole life and never let her suffer even a little bit of injustice.”

”And now we ask our beautiful bride, do you wish to...”

Before the host could finish, Li Jiayuan spoke up: ”I do, I do... I want to marry him, and as long as I have him, I can do anything!”

Upon seeing this side of Li Jiayuan, Li Haixiao covered his face with his hand.

Oh my, when did his daughter become so open?

Li Jiayuan really was different on her wedding day.

Jiayuan couldn’t have become like this just after being with me, could she?

I never knew Li Jiayuan could be so proactive; today has truly been an eye-opener.

...

For a moment, many people below felt that Li Jiayuan had become a different person, having never seen her take such initiative before. It seemed she was truly smitten.

”Today our bride is very proactive. Now, let’s have the couple exchange rings and vow to be of one heart until death parts us!”

The best man and maid of honor stepped forward with the rings, and Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan exchanged rings.

”Now the groom may kiss the bride...”

Kiss, kiss, kiss.

A chorus of teasing shouts rose from below.

Xiao Wei hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. Li Jiayuan noticed Xiao Wei’s embarrassment and, on her tiptoes, cupped his face with her hands and planted a kiss directly on him.

Oh...Oh...

Cheers erupted from the crowd.

I didn’t expect Li Jiayuan to be so bold to take such initiative in this matter.

Life hasn’t been easy for Jiayuan. I’ve never seen such a delicate girl take on mercenary training for a man before; girls like her are rare indeed.

Yes, they’ve had it tough.

...

No one could have expected Li Jiayuan to be so forward today, to actually kiss Xiao Wei of her own volition. They couldn’t help but cheer for Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei. Those who understood her knew how thrilled she was at that moment. Those who didn’t understand her might think of Jiayuan as someone without shame.

”Quiet, now comes the most exciting moment. Our groom may now carry the bride into the bridal chamber,” the host announced. As soon as he finished speaking, Xiao Wei picked up Li Jiayuan and dashed. He knew all too well that when Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing got married, he had deliberately played a prank on him. Now that it was his turn to marry, how could Zhang Zhentian let him off easily? If he didn’t hurry up and run away with Li Jiayuan now, who knows what kind of situation Zhang Zhentian would create for him?

Charge, move out of the way, don’t block my way to the bridal chamber... He hadn’t managed to escape when he was intercepted by a group. Xiao Wei knew he was truly doomed now.

They kept coming up with ideas to trouble Xiao Wei, and by the time several rounds had passed, it was already dark.

Finally, out of ideas to trouble Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan, they let them rush home to the bridal chamber to make babies!

”Thank you all so much,” Xiao Wei said, pulling Li Jiayuan and bolting. He was frightened of his brothers; they had messed with him so much that he’d have to lay low in the future. Had he known it would be like this, he wouldn’t have thought of ways to prank them during their weddings. Now it was his turn to marry, and it was payback time, catching him completely off-guard.

He thought he could escape, but he was caught and brought back, leaving Xiao Wei feeling quite helpless!
