My Alleged Husband

Chapter 106: Chapter 97 I’m Pregnant_2

”I haven’t said anything much, just that I’m getting a bit hungry!”

”Can you stop joking around? I heard exactly what you said. Do you think it’s appropriate to keep things from me like this?” Zhang Zhentian said to Xia Jing with a cold laugh.

”Zhang Zhentian, do you think you’re being fair to me?” Xia Jing retorted.

”How am I being unfair to you?” Zhang Zhentian had no clue where Xia Jing’s accusation was coming from.

”I’ve known for a long time what you’ve been bullying me day and night for. You just want me to tell you about that matter myself, don’t you? Don’t think I don’t know you went through my phone that morning. Let me tell you not to overthink it; I admit that he indeed was my ex-boyfriend, but we’ve long since been over. Yet you knew and chose not to tell me; instead, you’ve been treating me this way time and again. Why should I have to tell you I’m pregnant?” Xia Jing began to cry as she spoke. Zhang Zhentian hadn’t realized that Xia Jing knew everything; she simply chose to keep silent, waiting for him to bring it up first. But neither did, which led to the current mess.

”No, listen to me, that’s not how it is, you’ve misunderstood!”

”Misunderstood? Zhang Zhentian, what do you think I’ve misunderstood? Can you honestly say that your treatment of me has nothing to do with this?” Xia Jing asked mockingly, leaving Zhang Zhentian speechless.

”Dear, please don’t be angry. A mother shouldn’t get upset; it will make the baby unhappy!” Zhang Zhentian was at a loss for a better way to appease Xia Jing, so he could only use their unborn child to persuade her.

”Rest assured, I won’t let anything happen to my child. I will bring them safely into this world, so that I can leave here with a clear conscience to go abroad. Otherwise, how could I possibly leave you?” Xia Jing said calmly.

Her words were like a bombshell to Zhang Zhentian, who had never expected Xia Jing to say such a thing. What did she mean by leaving him? Did she really not want to stay by his side that much?

”Xia Jing, what do you mean by that? What do you mean by leaving me? Where do you want to go? You can’t possibly be thinking of abandoning the baby and me, and our home, to run off as soon as they’re born?” Zhang Zhentian couldn’t believe his ears. He wanted to confirm that he hadn’t heard wrong; he didn’t believe Xia Jing could be so cruel.

”Exactly, that’s what I’m planning. Aren’t you and Dad always wanting an heir? Now that I’ve finally given you the heir you wanted, shouldn’t you be happy?” Xia Jing laughed coldly.

”Xia Jing, why would you think that way? I won’t let you leave. If we’re going, we’re going together. I just ask you to consider me, to consider our family before you act. If you just run away like that, what will Dad and I think? How sad will our child be?” Zhang Zhentian continued earnestly persuading Xia Jing, but she remained indifferent.

”How my child will feel is beyond my care now. I believe that even if I’m not here, Dad will love them dearly because this is his first grandchild. So, I trust that Dad will not disappoint me!”

”But what you are doing will disappoint both me and Dad. Xia Jing, I never knew you were such a selfish person. Can’t you stop making such upsetting remarks? Can’t you change your stubborn temper? What good does it do you? This version of you feels foreign and scary. Are you still the Xia Jing I knew?” Zhang Zhentian’s words turned into a roar directed at Xia Jing, who was not one to be bullied easily.

”Zhang Zhentian, why are you yelling at me? Are you yelling at me or your son?” Xia Jing said to Zhang Zhentian, ”That’s right, I have changed. Haven’t you changed a bit too?”

...

The two started quarreling at home again. Old Master Zhang was on his way out when he remembered that he had forgotten a document at home, so he returned to get it. As soon as he reached the door, he heard the heated argument inside. Pushing the door open and stepping in, he said, ”What’s with all this quarreling day in and day out? If you keep it up, get out!”

The authority of Old Master Zhang was indeed formidable; at his command, both of them fell silent. Then Xia Jing turned to Old Master Zhang and said, ”Dad, I am pregnant and Zhentian is still yelling at me!”

At Xia Jing’s words, Old Master Zhang first froze before realizing what she said. He took Xia Jing’s hand and asked, ”Xia Jing, you aren’t lying to Dad, are you?”

”Dad, how could I lie to you? I got checked a while ago and didn’t tell you because I wanted to surprise you and Zhentian. But then Zhentian yelled at me so loudly...” Xia Jing played the victim remarkably well, easily winning Old Master Zhang to her side with just a few words.

”Zhentian, since Xia Jing is pregnant, you should take good care of her. How can you still lose your temper at her? If you do this again, you’ll sleep in the study from now on, got it?” Old Master Zhang yelled at Zhang Zhentian.

This left Zhang Zhentian bitter and unable to voice his frustration. He hadn’t expected his father to turn on him just because Xia Jing was pregnant. ’Oh heavens, if it’s like this, how am I going to live from now on? Save me!’ he thought to himself.

”Xia Jing, I’ve already scolded Zhentian for you. Now rest well and give me a healthy grandson!” After reprimanding Zhang Zhentian, Old Master Zhang spoke gently to Xia Jing.

”I understand, Dad. You just sit back and relax!”

Xia Jing rolled her eyes at Zhang Zhentian, leaving him fuming with anger and unable to vent!
