My Alleged Husband

Chapter 139: Chapter 123 Abandoning the Contract_1

Li Jiayuan was arguing with Li Haixiao when she almost fainted. Li Haixiao was terrified at that moment; it was only then that he remembered the doctor’s repeated warnings when Li Jiayuan was discharged from the hospital. The doctor had stressed that Li Jiayuan must not be agitated, or it was very likely that she would have a miscarriage.

Thinking of this, Li Haixiao himself was frightened. He didn’t mean to argue with Li Jiayuan at all; he just wanted the land. How could things have turned out this way?

”Dad, please, can you just let go of the dispute over that land?” Li Jiayuan held Li Haixiao’s hand and said with effort.

How could Li Haixiao possibly continue to insist on that land? His grandchild was almost lost; what use was the land to him now?

”Alright, alright, whatever you say goes. I won’t fight over the land anymore, Jiayuan, are you alright?” Li Haixiao asked worriedly, looking at Li Jiayuan who was in agony.

Li Jiayuan really felt some pain in her abdomen, but after calming down, the sensation faded. However, there was still a slight discomfort.

Li Jiayuan was about to speak when Xiao Wei, who had been waiting upstairs for a long time and had not seen Li Jiayuan come up, decided to come down to check. To his alarm, upon arriving downstairs, he found Li Jiayuan collapsed on the floor with Li Haixiao squatting beside her. Xiao Wei was frantic; this was his first child, and nothing could happen to it!

”Jiayuan, what’s going on? Why are you sitting on the floor? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?” Xiao Wei asked urgently, fearing that Li Jiayuan was in discomfort.

”It’s okay, Xiao Wei, let’s go upstairs!” Li Jiayuan said, her face so pale that it made one feel an urge to care for her.

”Okay, let’s go upstairs!” Xiao Wei said, then scooped Li Jiayuan up in a princess carry.

Li Haixiao wanted to say something else, but thinking about how he had almost killed a child himself, he found himself at a loss for words and could only watch as Xiao Wei carried Li Jiayuan upstairs.

Watching Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei go upstairs made Li Haixiao start to reflect on himself. He couldn’t understand how he had become so blinded by greed that he could hurt his own daughter.

Xiao Wei had seen Li Jiayuan sitting on the ground, but Li Haixiao was squatting next to her. Xiao Wei had initially wanted to shout at Li Haixiao, but then he remembered that Li Haixiao had undergone surgery and it was normal for him not to be able to squat or stand easily, so he didn’t say anything. Yet, when Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei brought up the incident, Xiao Wei lost his temper.

”Xiao Wei, do you have any idea how scared I was at the time? My stomach hurt so badly, but after I calmed down a bit, it didn’t feel that way anymore. Did you see? I said so much to him, but Dad was never willing to give up the land, yet when I almost fainted, he immediately agreed. It turns out I am still the most important thing in my father’s heart...” Li Jiayuan said to Xiao Wei, beaming. But how could she have known that the storm would come so suddenly?

Upon hearing what Li Jiayuan said, Xiao Wei’s face suddenly changed: ”Li Jiayuan, what kind of mother are you? That’s your child; how can you use your child like that? Also, when I saw your dad squatting next to you, he didn’t even pick you up, and you still feel happy?”

When Li Jiayuan heard Xiao Wei inexplicably lash out at her, she felt really irked. Originally, she planned to just put up with it, but now she suddenly felt why should she hold her tongue when it wasn’t her fault? Just like that, she and Xiao Wei got into another fierce argument.

”What do you mean, Xiao Wei, what’s this about me using the child? I wasn’t pretending at all, and besides, you know my dad underwent surgery. He can barely stand up on his own, let alone lift anything. His recovery is still ongoing. How could he possibly carry himself?” Li Jiayuan found it truly laughable. Wasn’t Xiao Wei there when Li Haixiao had the surgery? How could he say such things?

”Li Jiayuan, are you the one who’s confused? You also had surgery, donating a kidney to your dad. And, on top of that, you’re pregnant now. Couldn’t he think about you for a second? Let me tell you, all your dad cares about is that joint venture. I was considering pleading with Elder Sister Xia to see if her husband could agree to give that piece of land to your dad, but now it seems there’s no need for such gestures. It would be superfluous, because if your dad can be ruthless in his actions, why can’t I? That land is a commemoration of the joint venture given to me by Elder Sister Xia, and I won’t give it to anyone!” Xiao Wei was so angry that he began to speak without filtering his words.

Li Jiayuan thought Xiao Wei was being ridiculous. She had always thought that the plot of land was given to both her and Xiao Wei by Xia Jing. But after she read the text clearly, she realized it was all an illusion, but of course, that came later!

”Xiao Wei, well then let me tell you too, the West City Project joint venture was a wedding gift from Xia Jing to both of us. I own half of that stake, and don’t you even think about swallowing it all!” Li Jiayuan bellowed at Xiao Wei.

Hearing what Li Jiayuan said, Xiao Wei was stunned. What did she mean? Had Li Jiayuan always intended to get that piece of land and take away his shares as well?

Xiao Wei didn’t dare to continue thinking further. He suddenly felt that he didn’t understand Li Jiayuan at all. What kind of woman was she?

”Ha, Li Jiayuan, since you’ve put it that way, I won’t be polite with you anymore. Let me tell you the truth, the half of the shares that you thought you had, you don’t actually have anything. The name on it is mine alone—there’s no mention of you, Li Jiayuan. So, that joint venture is my private property, it has nothing to do with you, and it certainly has nothing to do with your dad. Do you understand what I’m saying?” Xiao Wei laughed coldly, and Li Jiayuan was completely dumbfounded. Wasn’t this supposed to be the wedding gift that Xia Jing gave to them? How could it have become Xiao Wei’s private property?

”Xiao Wei, are you deceiving me? How could this land be your private property? I clearly remember that the land belonged to both of us...” Li Jiayuan still couldn’t accept this reality. Why had it changed?

”Now that we’ve come to this point, I won’t hide it from you. Do you know why it’s come to this? Elder Sister Xia and her husband did this precisely because they were afraid you wouldn’t be able to control your own desires one day. That’s why they made this arrangement. I didn’t believe Elder Sister Xia and her husband back then. I never would have imagined—you, Li Jiayuan, would actually do something like this. When your dad approached you, I chose to stay silent just to see what you would do. But unexpectedly, you went behind my back to call Elder Sister Xia. Looking back at your actions, I feel really cold inside. Li Jiayuan, let’s not even mention other things—at the very least, we are husband and wife now. Is this how you treat your own husband? Do you think I am unaware of what you’ve done? I just chose to say nothing because I believed that you would come to me and clear things up on your own. Yet, I waited and waited, but you never took the initiative to come clean.”

”So, you knew everything all along, Xiao Wei. Could you please just give up that plot of land? I promise my dad will make it worth your while!” Li Jiayuan’s focus was still on that plot of land.

Xiao Wei laughed coldly, shook his head, and told Li Jiayuan, ”Do you think that’s possible? You could even harm my child, so why on earth would I give you the land worth millions? I forgot to tell you, if you really can’t stand to be with me anymore, just let me know. There’s no need to think of other ways to harm my child. To be honest, what you did today has really chilled my heart.”

After saying that, Xiao Wei slammed the door and left, leaving Li Jiayuan alone in the bedroom.

Li Jiayuan felt the situation was getting messier and messier. How had it gotten to such an uncontrollable point?
