My Alleged Husband

Chapter 151: Chapter 135 Love Stronger Than Gold_1

Li Jiayuan knew that Xiao Wei was reluctant to leave Nian Jun, and she was unwilling to let go of Xiao Wei as well, but what she felt even more when she saw Xiao Wei was discomfort and frustration! How could she be content? She had waited so painstakingly here for Xiao Wei to return. She thought that even if Xiao Wei didn’t come back to visit her along the way, at least he would be there with her when she gave birth, but the outcome was...

Li Haixiao noted Xiao Wei’s reluctance to part. He didn’t know what to say. He also felt that Xiao Wei was in the wrong; how could he do this? Not coming back when his own wife was giving birth would upset anyone!

Li Haixiao really wanted to ask Xiao Wei to stay, but with Li Jiayuan already having issued the order to leave, he didn’t feel it was his place to ask him to stay.

Li Jiayuan watched Xiao Wei walk away, and she wanted to ask him not to leave, but she couldn’t bring herself to speak. She always felt it was her pride getting in the way. Sometimes, even Li Jiayuan herself didn’t understand—was pride really that important in front of a loved one? In fact, Li Jiayuan knew very well that many couples can’t stay together, and most of the time, it’s because one person’s pride is too strong. But Li Jiayuan couldn’t abandon her pride. She always felt that if she showed weakness in front of Xiao Wei, she would be bullied by him in the future. But she never considered that Xiao Wei, who loved her so much, how could he possibly bully her because of her pride?

And so Xiao Wei left without a single word of entreaty from Li Jiayuan.

Li Jiayuan took Nian Jun from Li Haixiao’s arms and went upstairs.

Li Jiayuan, looking at the child in her arms, felt an indescribable bitterness. She said to the child, ”Nian Jun, did you see? The man who just came to our house, that’s your father. Isn’t he handsome? He gave you a name—Lei Jian! Your nickname is Nian Jun. Mommy chose this name to reminisce about your daddy. Now that he’s back, aren’t you happy? But Mommy heartlessly sent him away. Don’t blame Mommy, okay?”

The little one in Li Jiayuan’s arms seemed to have heard his mother’s words, or perhaps he had just woken up. He opened his charming eyes and gazed at Li Jiayuan. Li Jiayuan watched as her child blinked sleepily, staring at her incessantly. She felt a deep satisfaction, thinking at that moment that having such a life was already enough—why pursue more?

Back at the hotel, Xiao Wei called Xia Jing. Xia Jing was rather curious; shouldn’t Xiao Wei be with Li Jiayuan and Nian Jun right now? Why did he have time to call her?

”Hello, Xiao Wei, what’s the matter so late?” Xia Jing asked, confused.

Xiao Wei himself didn’t know where to start. He said to Xia Jing, ”Elder Sister Xia, I went to see Jiayuan, but Jiayuan kicked me out!”

Pfft! Xia Jing was just taking a sip of water when she heard Xiao Wei’s words and couldn’t help but spit the water out.

Xiao Wei heard the sound of running water from Xia Jing’s end and spoke up, ”Elder Sister Xia, are you alright?”

”I’m fine, Xiao Wei, how come Li Jiayuan chased you out? Was your approach in looking for her not good?” Xia Jing couldn’t understand why Li Jiayuan would throw Xiao Wei out; logically, longing for Xiao Wei so much, should she not have embraced him and burst into tears upon seeing him? Why did it turn out like this instead?

”Elder Sister Xia, it’s really a long story to talk about. Do you know that when I went there today, I saw my son? He’s so adorable, but I wasn’t there with him, and I wasn’t even by his side when he was born. I’m not a competent father. Although I was chased out by Jiayuan today, my heart is still very happy. I’ve named the child—Lei Jian. Elder Sister Xia, what do you think of this name?” Xiao Wei sighed and said to Xia Jing.

”I think the name you’ve chosen is very good. Did you choose this name for your child because of the relationship between you and Jiayuan?” Xia Jing asked Xiao Wei.

”Elder Sister Xia, you really understand me. I named the child this because I left here for almost a whole year to go to the United States. During this year, Jiayuan didn’t give up waiting for me; she gave birth to the child all by herself. That’s why I chose this name for the child, to commemorate the love between Jiayuan and me that is stronger than gold!”

”Xiao Wei, actually, you shouldn’t blame Jiayuan, she really had a tough year. Anyone would have some emotions, fear is just one. She was simply unable to accept it at the moment. Think about it—when she was struggling through days with child, you weren’t with her, provided no care at all, and you didn’t even fulfill the most basic responsibilities of a husband. You didn’t even call her from the United States, but now you’ve come back when she has given birth to the child. Do you think she would feel good about that?”

As Xiao Wei listened to Xia Jing’s words, he found them very reasonable. After all, Li Jiayuan had indeed been waiting for him to come back!

”Xiao Wei, in fact, Jiayuan is really a good girl. You shouldn’t feel uncomfortable just because she drove you out. You should be happy that you married such a wonderful girl in your life. I believe she truly loves you. If she didn’t love you, she wouldn’t have waited for you to come back. If she didn’t love you, she wouldn’t have risked her life to bring your child into the world. You are really important in her heart. Who doesn’t get influenced by self-interest at times? Everyone has moments of being blinded by personal gains. Do you understand what I’m trying to say?”

Xia Jing gently persuaded Xiao Wei, hoping for the happiness of Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei despite how Li Jiayuan had treated her before. She knew Jiayuan’s nature was not bad, just a bit too naïve.

How could Xiao Wei not understand what Xia Jing meant? He took a few deep breaths to calm himself down and said to Xia Jing, ”Elder Sister Xia, I understand what you mean. Don’t worry about it, Jiayuan is just upset right now. I will look for her when she is no longer angry. It’s getting late; you should rest!”

Xiao Wei hung up after saying that, silently thinking about Xia Jing’s words. He felt she was absolutely right, he had no right to complain or say anything about Li Jiayuan—everything was his fault. He decided that once Li Jiayuan forgave him, he would bring her to the United States to live with him; after all, his company was there now, and it could now be considered a home for Xiao Wei. He really wanted to tell Li Jiayuan about his achievements in the United States today, but he was chased out before he got the chance. Now reflecting on it, he regretted not being more shameless and just rushing to embrace her. Maybe then everything would have been fine, and he wouldn’t be alone in this cold and desolate hotel, missing his wife and child.

Li Jiayuan was at home with the child and went to bed early. Although her eyes were closed, she hadn’t fallen asleep. Xiao Wei’s image kept circling in her mind; a year had passed, and they finally met again, but many things had changed irrevocably. Were her feelings truly stronger than gold? Why hadn’t he come back to see her in that year?
