My Alleged Husband

Chapter 131: Chapter 115 Agreement Reached_1

”Xiao Wei, I need to make a call to Elder Sister Xia and tell her the good news, then I can go shopping for our son’s supplies with her.” Li Jiayuan couldn’t wait to share the news with Xia Jing when she realized she hadn’t yet. She knew Xia Jing was usually at home because Old Master Zhang didn’t allow her to go out, fearing something might happen. However, she felt Xia Jing was getting too bored staying home every day, so she thought of using this excuse to invite Xia Jing out for shopping more often, which would make her life less monotonous!

Xiao Wei shook his head and handed his phone to Li Jiayuan. She took the phone and called Xia Jing, who was still resting in the bedroom. Hearing the ringtone, Xia Jing picked up and saw it was Li Jiayuan calling. She eagerly answered the phone.

”Hey, Jiayuan, it’s been a few days since we talked. What made you think of calling me?” Xia Jing was curious about the sudden call, considering she hadn’t heard from Li Jiayuan since her marriage. Xia Jing even thought they had gone abroad for a trip!

”Oh dear, I just missed my lovely sister. What, I can’t call you if there’s nothing wrong?” Li Jiayuan replied to Xia Jing playfully.

Xia Jing chuckled and said to Li Jiayuan, ”Of course not, I always welcome your calls whenever you want to chat. Why are you up so late? Can’t sleep without Xiao Wei by your side?”

”Sister, where did your mind go? Xiao Wei is right here with me. I’m calling to tell you some great news!”

”Oh? What’s the great news? I can’t wait to hear it!” Xia Jing was eager to know the good news Li Jiayuan mentioned.

”Guess!”

Li Jiayuan had piqued Xia Jing’s curiosity but refused to reveal the good news. She enjoyed holding back to tease Xia Jing a bit.

”You’re really not going to tell me?” Xia Jing asked.

”I told you to guess!”

”So, you’re really not saying?” Xia Jing asked again.

”Try guessing first!”

”If you won’t tell me, then I’m going to hang up...” Xia Jing wasn’t interested in playing word games with Li Jiayuan. Speak up or I hang up, simple as that.

Li Jiayuan was stunned; she had expected Xia Jing to at least hazard a guess. Why would she just threaten to hang up if the news wasn’t revealed?

Quickly, Li Jiayuan said to Xia Jing, ”Alright then, I’ll tell you. Sister, you’re going to be an aunt...”

”Ah?” Xia Jing didn’t grasp what that meant at first. After a moment, it clicked, and she excitedly asked Li Jiayuan, ”Jiayuan, are you pregnant?”

”Yes, sister. I know it’s dull for you at home every day, and uncle won’t let you go out. Now that I’m pregnant too, I can casually ask you to go shopping with me to buy things for our son. Don’t you think that’s a good idea?” Li Jiayuan was so joyful she could hardly contain herself; she felt nothing could be happier than this.

”Of course, I’ve been wanting to go out for so long, but I just couldn’t. If you come to take me with you, maybe I can actually go out with you!”

”Then it’s settled. I’ll come to get you in a few days!”

”Great, goodbye!”

The two of them agreed to go shopping together.

Xia Jing was thrilled to learn of Li Jiayuan’s pregnancy. It meant she could now visit baby stores with her and wouldn’t have to deal with Old Master Zhang’s fussing. How could she not be happy?

Zhang Zhentian was reading in his study when he heard Xia Jing giggling alone in the bedroom. He found it odd. Could it be that Xia Jing was on the phone with someone? She sounded so cheerful.

”Xia Jing, why are you laughing by yourself? What has made you so happy?” Zhang Zhentian walked into the bedroom and asked Xia Jing what was making her laugh like that.

Xia Jing seemed not to have heard Zhang Zhentian speaking to her, still immersed in the excitement of being able to go shopping.

Seeing that Xia Jing ignored him, Zhang Zhentian lightly patted her shoulder, causing her to suddenly snap back to reality.

”Zhentian, have you finished your book?” Xia Jing hadn’t heard what Zhang Zhentian had said to her, so she assumed he had finished reading and had come back to sleep.

”How could I have finished that quickly!” Zhang Zhentian expressed helplessly. He had barely been in the study for an hour, how could he possibly have finished a book nearly a thousand pages thick?

With that said, Xia Jing felt puzzled and spoke to Zhang Zhentian, ”If you haven’t finished, then why did you come to find me? Didn’t you say that you would come to sleep after you finished reading?”

”In the study, I overheard some silly pig laughing non-stop, so I came out to see who was laughing!” Zhang Zhentian rolled his eyes at Xia Jing.

Xia Jing joyfully said to Zhang Zhentian, ”Zhentian, I’ve got some great news for you, Jiayuan is pregnant!”

Zhang Zhentian was taken aback at first and then asked Xia Jing, ”You’re this happy that Li Jiayuan is pregnant?”

”Of course, this way I can go shopping with Jiayuan in the future. I won’t have to stay home every day and be unable to go out. Don’t you think I should be happy?” Xia Jing said frankly to Zhang Zhentian.

Initially, Zhang Zhentian couldn’t understand why Xia Jing would be so happy about Li Jiayuan’s pregnancy; it turned out to be because she could finally go out. It seemed Xia Jing really was going stir-crazy at home—should he take her out for a few days?

No sooner had the thought crossed Zhang Zhentian’s mind than he quickly snuffed it out. It would be a disaster if Old Master Zhang found out. Old Master Zhang had forbidden Xia Jing from leaving the house. If he took her out so easily, he would be the one to suffer in the end.

Xia Jing continued to laugh non-stop. Suddenly something came to her mind, and she turned to Zhang Zhentian and asked, ”Zhentian, what did you just say? Who did you call a silly pig?”

Zhang Zhentian realized what he said and vaguely responded to Xia Jing, ”Did I say that? Maybe you heard wrong?”

Zhang Zhentian was very clear in his mind, if he admitted it, he might as well not bother with the bed tonight—the floor would be more comfortable.

But Xia Jing was not so easily fooled, ”Since you didn’t say it, then you can sleep on the floor tonight!”

It was obvious that Xia Jing was using the threat of sleeping on the floor to trick Zhang Zhentian into confessing, but the fool actually fell for it.

”I did say it. Please don’t make me sleep on the floor, okay, wife?” Zhang Zhentian looked at Xia Jing with a pitiful expression.

”Huh, who was it that said they didn’t say it just now? Why do I seem to hear someone admitting it was them? Could I be hallucinating?” Xia Jing pretended to be unsure whether she was experiencing delusions as she watched Zhang Zhentian, leaving him at a loss for words. What could he say? If Xia Jing wanted to play this game, what could he possibly respond?

”Wife, do you really want to go shopping that badly?” Zhang Zhentian suddenly changed the subject, cleverly choosing a topic that interested Xia Jing to talk about, and sure enough, as soon as she heard the mention of shopping, she skipped right over their previous conversation in which she had deliberately troubled Zhang Zhentian.

”Yeah, absolutely, what do you mean by that?” Xia Jing looked at Zhang Zhentian suspiciously, worried that he might trick her.

Zhang Zhentian, looking both amused and exasperated with Xia Jing, said, ”Darling, as long as you don’t make me sleep on the floor, I’ll let you go out. How about that?”

As soon as Xia Jing heard this, her eyes lit up. She grabbed Zhang Zhentian’s hand and asked, ”Are you serious? You’re not teasing me?”

”Of course I mean it, what do you say?”

”That works, hehe!”

Xia Jing was overjoyed. This was a golden opportunity; as long as she could go out, whether Zhang Zhentian slept on the floor was utterly trivial!
