My Alleged Husband

Chapter 147: Chapter 131 Don’t Stop Me!_1

Li Jiayuan’s heart was in turmoil, and so was Xiao Wei’s. Whoever was in their shoes would feel the same way. The marriage that they had both cared about so much had turned out like this in the end—who could possibly cheer up from that?

Xiao Wei didn’t walk away after shutting down his computer; instead, he lay directly on top of it. His brothers saw him like this and knew that Xiao Wei must be suffering a great deal. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be behaving in such a manner.

”Xiao Wei, don’t be sad. Even if the whole world abandons you, you still have us brothers,” one of Xiao Wei’s brothers stepped forward, patted him on the shoulder, and said.

”Ah Shun, why doesn’t she understand me no matter what I do? Why does she always have to hurt me in this way? Do I really hold no place in her heart?” Xiao Wei felt even more aggrieved when he heard his friend trying to comfort him.

The person who had just spoken to Xiao Wei was called Ah Shun. Xiao Wei had saved Ah Shun in the past, and since then, Ah Shun had followed by his side. Xiao Wei always treated Ah Shun like a real younger brother, which was why they were so close.

Xiao Wei’s brothers didn’t know what to do when they saw him like this. A few of them, upon seeing how distressed Xiao Wei was, wanted to see who had the nerve to hurt their leader to this extent!

”Brother Xiao Wei, don’t be so heartbroken. If this woman is making you this sad, it’s because she doesn’t understand you. Even if no one else knows what kind of person you are, we do, isn’t that right?” Ah Shun interjected.

”Yes!” Everyone unanimously echoed Ah Shun’s words upon hearing his question.

”Brother Xiao Wei, see? I didn’t speak wrongly, did I? All of us here know what kind of person you are. You are someone who would risk his life to save another person with whom you have no relation. How could someone like you be petty? It’s her loss for losing you, and one day she will regret it!”

”Yeah, Brother Xiao Wei, don’t be so sad anymore. Cheer up. Create a whole new world for her to see, to show her that you’re not someone to be trifled with. You are capable, and you can build your own empire with your own hands!”

”That’s right, Brother Xiao Wei, you can’t go on like this. If you do, that woman who covets wealth will only despise you more!”

”Exactly, Brother Xiao Wei, let’s all work hard together, and show those who look down on us that we too are talented, that we are not inferior to them, only stronger!”

...

The voices of these people grew more and more spirited as they spoke, and Xiao Wei thought they were right. He couldn’t let Li Jiayuan look down on him. He had to prove to her that he truly had what it takes. He wanted to tell everyone that the world is so unfair; if others could be talented, he could be a king!

Xiao Wei’s fighting spirit was ignited by his companions. Now, he was ready to embark on his own entrepreneurial journey!

”Alright, let’s all work hard together, and make those who look down on us regret it!” Xiao Wei stood up and said to his brothers.

”Yes! Yes! Yes!”

Xiao Wei looked at the scene before him and couldn’t help thinking to himself: Li Jiayuan, I will make you regret this. But if you can quietly wait for me for one year, I will start over with you. Otherwise, we are doomed to part ways forever!

At home, Li Jiayuan was like a madwoman, screaming incessantly, ”Dad, let me go. I want to go to the United States and find Xiao Wei...”

Li Haixiao felt indifferent to Li Jiayuan’s shrieks, as he was absolutely not going to let her go to the United States. He said to her, ”You just stay at home and behave yourself. The doctor said that you can’t get too worked up; for the sake of the child, you can’t fly. So, for the next few months, you just stay at home peacefully, and don’t even think about going anywhere!”

Hearing Li Haixiao say this, Li Jiayuan panicked. She felt that if she didn’t go to find Xiao Wei in the United States soon, she would lose him. She didn’t want to lose Xiao Wei, so she was determined to leave.

”Dad, please, just let me go. Otherwise, Xiao Wei will really leave me. Do you really want my child to be born without a father? Dad, I’m begging you, please let me go!”

Li Jiayuan pounded on the door of the room with all her might, while Li Haixiao stood outside, steadfast in refusing to open it for her. He told Li Jiayuan, ”Think it through carefully. If you can quietly give birth to the child here, he might come back. But if you ignore the child’s safety and insist on flying to the United States to find him, and something happens to the baby, then you will indeed lose him!”

Hearing Li Haixiao say this, Li Jiayuan quieted down. She thought her father made sense; if she lost the baby, Xiao Wei would completely cut ties with her. Rather than letting that happen, she might as well stay put and give birth, quietly waiting for Xiao Wei’s return. But how could she be content with that?

Li Jiayuan wasn’t unaware of the consequences of her actions, she was just unwilling. She didn’t want to be confined, unable to leave. Ever since Xiao Wei had left, she really wanted to see him, but she never had the chance. Now, it seemed there would be no chance to meet Xiao Wei for the forthcoming period.

”Dad, you’re right. I shouldn’t be so willful. I need to stay and give birth to our child. I will stay here quietly with our child, waiting for him to return. I believe that after some time, when he is no longer angry with me, he will come back to see me. After all, this is his home, and his child and wife are here. He will surely return!” Li Jiayuan spoke to Li Haixiao.

Li Haixiao was taken aback, wondering when his daughter had become so compliant. Could it be that the impact of Xiao Wei’s departure had been too much for her?

”If you’ve thought it through, that’s good. During this time, you better not send Xiao Wei any messages or make any phone calls. Let him think things over, and you just focus on resting at home, don’t even think about sneaking out, understand?” Li Haixiao was worried that Li Jiayuan might secretly try to leave, so he felt it was necessary to sound a warning, just in case something happened and he would be blamed for not saying anything.

”Dad, rest assured. Now that I’ve thought it through, I won’t sneak out, because I believe I can wait for Xiao Wei’s return!”

Without saying much more, Li Haixiao let Li Jiayuan out. Then, he changed the door lock. Li Jiayuan, watching her father do this, really felt speechless. How could he distrust his own daughter like this?

Upon reflection, Li Jiayuan thought it might be best to let it be. After all, staying at home wasn’t bad. She had everything she needed without worries; why not enjoy it?

Looking at the now quiet Li Jiayuan, Li Haixiao couldn’t help but ask, ”Jiayuan, are you sure you’re thinking clearly? How come you agreed so easily to stay put?”

Li Jiayuan sighed and shook her head, saying to Li Haixiao, ”Dad, I think you make sense. I really don’t want to lose Xiao Wei. You know how good Xiao Wei has been to me, and how I never appreciated it. Blinded by self-interest, I’ve caused the situation we’re in now. It wasn’t until Xiao Wei went to the United States that I understood the phrase ’a single day apart feels like three seasons have passed.’ It’s unbearable, knowing where he is but not being able to go to him. Do you understand how I feel?”

After hearing Li Jiayuan’s words, Li Haixiao was somewhat taken aback. Was this really his daughter? She seemed so different from before.

”To be honest, Xiao Wei is truly a good kid. Sometimes you did go overboard. There’s a limit to everything. Look what you’ve done; you’ve driven him away. Now you regret it, but what good is regretting now?” Li Haixiao had actually been the cause of the issue, but now he turned around and started lecturing Li Jiayuan.

”Dad, I know what you’re going to say. Isn’t it that there’s no medicine for regret in the world? I never understood that saying before, but now I truly get it. There really isn’t any medicine for regret. One mistake leads to another, like playing chess; one wrong move, and the whole game is lost. Now, I don’t ask for anything else; I just hope that Xiao Wei can come back to me soon! That would be enough for me!”

Li Haixiao nodded, seeing that Li Jiayuan truly understood the gravity of her mistakes.
