My Alleged Husband

Chapter 114: Chapter 102 Showcase Talent_1

Zhang Zhentian didn’t know what Xia Jing was thinking at the moment, if he knew what was on her mind, he might really regret how he had treated her before.

It seemed that today’s thunder had really frightened Zhang Zhentian, he had become a different person, and he started to show concern for Xia Jing, which caught her off guard. She felt that Zhang’s change was too sudden, she hadn’t even been mentally prepared, and Zhang Zhentian had already changed!

Watching Zhang Zhentian wash vegetables, chop meat, and smile at her from time to time made Xia Jing feel like she was hallucinating. She now somewhat doubted the reality of what she was seeing; she was afraid that just as she was starting to believe that Zhang Zhentian truly had changed for the better, it would turn out to be an illusion, just like a mirage of a village appearing to a weary traveler in the desert, yet upon closer inspection, it was nothing but a shimmering illusion.

Zhang Zhentian began to cook for Xia Jing, who couldn’t help but walk over to him. She hugged Zhang Zhentian from behind. He was taken aback, then overjoyed. Placing his hands on the back of hers, he turned and said to her, ”Dear, what’s wrong? Are you hungry? Just wait a bit, the food will be ready soon!”

”Zhentian, no matter what happens, you won’t leave me, will you?” Xia Jing leaned against his back and whispered to him.

”You fool, don’t worry. I really know that I was wrong, I won’t treat you like that anymore. Can you give me another chance? As long as you don’t leave me, I will guard you for a lifetime!” Zhang Zhentian told Xia Jing, now truly understanding that nothing was more important than the happiness of a family, that finding a wife was easy, but living a lifetime with her was hard. If a person is determined to spend a lifetime with you, then they truly love you!

”Really? I’m scared. I fear that after I give you my heart again, you will treat me like you did before; I’m scared you’ll revert to the terrifying person you once were; I’m scared that you will fall in love with another woman and stop loving me...” As she spoke, Xia Jing began to cry. Ever since she married Zhang Zhentian, she grew increasingly afraid of losing him. She didn’t want the man she worked so hard to pursue to stop loving her, nor did she want the man she loved unconditionally to end up loving someone else. Such pain was something she never wanted to experience in her life!

”My dear, I admit that I was wrong to you before, I shouldn’t have distrusted you, I shouldn’t have doubted you. I am just a scumbag, don’t be sad. Crying too much is not good for the baby, stop crying, be good!” Zhang Zhentian told Xia Jing, ”I’m not a good husband. I’m no human being, how could I hurt a wife who loves me as her own life so much? You are pregnant, and I still treated you that way. I’m truly a damn fool! Don’t be mad at me anymore, from now on I will take good care of you, whatever you want to do, I will always be there for you.”

Turning around, Zhang Zhentian hugged Xia Jing, and she buried her head in his chest, crying. If only Zhang Zhentian had come to his senses a day earlier, could Xia Jing have been spared all this suffering? Maybe, maybe not—who could say for sure?

”My dear, I’m going to cook for you now, so you just go out and sit and wait to eat. There’s a lot of fumes in the kitchen, it might irritate your nose. Mua~” Zhang Zhentian pushed Xia Jing out of the kitchen, saying as he did so.

”Alright, I’ll see what Young Master Zhang’s cooking is like!” Xia Jing said to Zhang Zhentian with a grin.

The truth was, Xia Jing was still a bit skeptical about Zhang Zhentian’s culinary skills. She had heard from Old Master Zhang how the steamed fish, sweet and sour ribs, and braised pork made by Zhang Zhentian for him had turned out, and just the thought of it made her anxious. If the food he cooked for her was anything like what he’d made for Old Master Zhang, what would she do? But she couldn’t just turn around and leave, could she? How heartbroken would Zhentian be then? Forget it, she might as well wait and see. Perhaps her luck would be better than the old man’s?

Xia Jing could only comfort herself in her mind. After a while, Zhang Zhentian came out of the kitchen with the meal he had prepared for her.

Going over to take a look, Xia Jing couldn’t believe that these dishes had been made by Zhang Zhentian—they didn’t look in the least unappetizing. Could they possibly look good but be inedible, and actually be poison [Shocked/Shocked]?

”Dear, come and have a taste, to see how it is!” Zhang Zhentian eagerly awaited Xia Jing to try the food he had made especially for her, wanting to learn about her current preferences so that he could cook for her every day.

”Zhentian, could it be that it looks tasty but is actually inedible?” Xia Jing asked worriedly.

”You really don’t trust my cooking skills?”

”Alright then,” Xia Jing could only steel herself to give it a try.

Using her chopsticks to pick up a piece of vegetable and put it in her mouth, she chewed slowly and found the taste quite agreeable. She looked up at the expectant Zhang Zhentian and said softly, ”It tastes good, delicious!”

Zhang Zhentian smiled and said to Xia Jing, ”Then try some of these dishes.”

One by one, Xia Jing tasted the dishes and nodded at Zhang Zhentian, exclaiming, ”Not bad, really delicious! I didn’t expect you to be so skilled. Before, when I heard Dad saying you cooked for him, I was scared just thinking about it. But today, after trying it, I found it’s actually not bad...”

Zhang Zhentian, faced with Xia Jing’s praise, was genuinely happy. He proudly said to Xia Jing, ”Of course, you should see who your husband is. To be honest, these dishes were all specially learned by me. I was afraid they wouldn’t suit your taste after we got married!”

Xia Jing never expected Zhang Zhentian to actually learn cooking for her. With a man like this, what was there to pick on?

Touched, Xia Jing looked at Zhang Zhentian and said, ”Zhentian, thank you. The dishes are very tasty; you’ve worked hard.”

”It’s not hard, not hard at all. As a husband, being able to cook for my wife is my honor, how could it be hard? By the way, which dish do you think tastes the best, or if there’s something you want to eat, you can tell me. From now on, I will cook for you every day, how does that sound?” said Zhang Zhentian to Xia Jing.

”You won’t find me troublesome?” Xia Jing was dumbfounded upon hearing Zhang Zhentian’s words. When did Zhang Zhentian become so good to her?

”Silly girl, I would never find you a nuisance. Whatever you want, as long as I can provide it, I will give it all to you. Just stay by my side forever!”

”Young Master Zhang, did you eat honey today? Why is everything you say so cheesy?” Xia Jing feigned composure as she spoke to Zhang Zhentian, ”Or is it that you’ve done something to wrong me, and now you’re buttering me up with these sweet nothings to make me forgive you?”

”Yes, that’s right. In the past, I, as a husband, was narrow-minded and misunderstood you. Here I am, seeking your forgiveness. Please, my dear wife, be magnanimous and overlook my petty fault, spare me this time!”

Hearing Zhang Zhentian say this, Xia Jing couldn’t help it and burst out laughing. Seeing Xia Jing laugh so freely, Zhang Zhentian knew she had forgiven him. He embraced Xia Jing tightly and said, ”Xia Jing, we must never part for all of our lives. Once the baby is born, let’s travel the world!”

”Okay!”

And so, the two held each other and felt each other’s warmth!
