My Alleged Husband

Chapter 110: 100 Chapters Don’t do this_1

Ever since Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing got married, he felt that he really didn’t understand Xia Jing. The Xia Jing of the past never acted coquettishly, but now she often went to her father to do so, which made him quite uncomfortable. It was bad enough that Xia Jing complained, but what made it worse was that after she did, his father always took her side, never his, and this made Zhang Zhentian incredibly frustrated.

”Zhentian, remember this, a wife is for cherishing, not for quarreling with. If I hear about you bullying Xia Jing again, don’t blame me for not recognizing you as my son!” Old Master Zhang was willing to forsake his own son for his grandson. But from Old Master Zhang’s perspective, it was understandable. After all, he had worked hard to raise a son who refused to take over the empire he had built. It would upset anyone. Now, all Old Master Zhang hoped for was that his grandson would be born soon so he could nurture the boy into a talent, and not have him disregard his biological father for the sake of a woman.

”I understand!” Zhang Zhentian had no choice; he didn’t dare bully Xia Jing in front of his father again. He knew his father was a doting-grandson maniac who would certainly forsake his own son for the sake of his grandson!

After receiving Zhang Zhentian’s promise, Old Master Zhang turned to Xia Jing and asked, ”Xia Jing, what did you buy?”

Not only Old Master Zhang and Zhang Zhentian were curious about what Xia Jing had bought, but even the usually indifferent Aunt Xu was intrigued by the bundles Xia Jing was carrying.

”Dad, today when I went out to find Jiayuan, I passed by this mall. I thought the things inside were pretty good, so I bought some. Everything here is clothes for your grandson!” Xia Jing said to Old Master Zhang with a smile.

”In the future, I will prepare all these things for you, so you won’t have to worry about them. The best thing you can do for us is to take good care of yourself and the baby!” Zhang Zhentian said to Xia Jing before Old Master Zhang could speak.

Xia Jing turned to look at Zhang Zhentian. Since she had been pregnant, Zhang Zhentian had never said such warm words to her. What happened today? Was it because Old Master Zhang was there that he was putting on an act?

Before Old Master Zhang could speak, Zhang Zhentian had already done so, and Elder Zhang was quite satisfied with what Zhang Zhentian had just said.

”I hope the words you just said weren’t because I am here that you said them!” Although Old Master Zhang felt somewhat reassured by what Zhang Zhentian had just said, he still didn’t believe that Zhang Zhentian’s attitude could undergo such a sudden drastic change.

Zhang Zhentian was rather embarrassed and said to Old Master Zhang, ”Dad, you don’t have to say that. After all, I am your son. Can’t you trust your son just this once?”

”Alright, Dad, let’s not talk about this anymore. It’s getting late. You should go to rest, and Zhentian and I need to rest too,” Xia Jing said to Old Master Zhang and Zhang Zhentian.

”Xia Jing, I...” Old Master Zhang had not finished speaking when Xia Jing interrupted him!

”Dad, I know what you are going to say. Look, it’s really late now. There’s a little one in my belly, and if you two keep talking here, it will affect the baby’s rest and development. Don’t you agree? Wouldn’t it be better if we talk about it tomorrow?” Xia Jing knew what Old Master Zhang wanted to say, and since she couldn’t prevent him from speaking, she decided to play the card of the eagerly anticipated grandson. Sure enough, as soon as she mentioned it, Old Master Zhang agreed to go and rest.

After Old Master Zhang returned to his bedroom, Zhang Zhentian pulled Xia Jing back to their own bedroom, where Xia Jing shouted at him, ”Zhang Zhentian, are you sick? You hurt me!”

Zhang Zhentian let go of Xia Jing’s hand and said, ”Xia Jing, why have you become like this? I feel like you are so strange now; I don’t recognize you anymore. You weren’t like this before. Tell me, why did you change?”

”Haha, Zhang Zhentian, did you think you understood me before? To be honest, I think your love for me is not as deep as Li Jiayuan’s love for Xiao Wei. Do you know that many times, I really envy Li Jiayuan? She is not afraid of any risk to be with Xiao Wei. To prevent him from being endangered by efforts to clean his identity, she would rather endure the pain of training and enter the Mercenary... All she did was to have an ordinary home with Xiao Wei. But what about you? You never once considered whether I would face retaliation from enemies for whitewashing your history, never thought about my feelings. You only care about yourself. There’s not much I can say about someone like that, because I know people are selfish; no one is not selfish, not even me. I didn’t leave being a Mercenary to be with you because I didn’t want to give up on the teammates who extended their helping hands to me in my most difficult times, not the ones who betray you from behind! You always think you understand me, but in reality, you don’t know me at all. Even so, I still chose to be with a man who doesn’t understand me because I truly love you. I love the ordinary Zhang Zhentian, the one who sincerely cared about me when we met, not the selfish and self-serving Zhang Zhentian you are now!”
