My Alleged Husband

Chapter 144: Chapter 128: Please Come Back to Me! _1

No matter how much Li Jiayuan called out and yelled, Xiao Wei remained indifferent and didn’t turn back even once. Li Jiayuan had no choice but to give up.

After the argument with Li Jiayuan, Xiao Wei immediately booked a flight to the United States, and it was the earliest flight. He couldn’t wait to leave this place — it was now filled with only painful memories for Xiao Wei and practically no trace of love.

Li Jiayuan didn’t know that Xiao Wei had already gone to the United States. By the time she realized it, Xiao Wei had already departed for distant lands!

When Li Jiayuan returned home, Li Haixiao came over directly.

”Jiayuan, stop arguing with Xiao Wei. I don’t want that piece of land anymore. Whether I am the chairman or not is no longer important to me. All I wish for is your happiness, not for you to frown and worry every day like you do now. I can see how much you care about Xiao Wei, but to help me get that land, you’ve ended up in such a quarrel with him. Xiao Wei is a good kid, and I don’t want to see you miss out on such a good husband because of me. Ever since I asked for that land, I knew that you and Xiao Wei would start arguing because I am still more important to you than Xiao Wei is!” Li Haixiao looked at Li Jiayuan, his daughter, bearing a worried face, feeling a pang of heartache. What could be more important than his child’s lifelong happiness?

Li Jiayuan didn’t understand what Li Haixiao meant, and she asked, ”Dad, what do you mean by that? I didn’t quite catch it!”

”Silly child, this is my fault. If it weren’t for me, how could you and Xiao Wei have come to this? It’s all my fault. I don’t want you to make decisions you’ll regret because of me anymore. Xiao Wei has already gone abroad. You should be chasing your happiness now. You’re pregnant; you need to rest more. Look at you, what have you become? Even if you can endure it, your child cannot!”

Li Jiayuan didn’t understand anything. The only thing she comprehended was ”Xiao Wei has already gone abroad”!

”Dad, when did Xiao Wei leave?”

”After you met him, he booked the earliest flight and left,” Li Haixiao said to Li Jiayuan. ”Jiayuan, listen to your dad, chase your happiness. Don’t let such a good husband slip away; don’t let your hard-won marriage end like this...”

Li Jiayuan stood still, rooted to the spot: Xiao Wei left? Would she never see him again? Oh Jiayuan, what have you done? How could you lose such a good husband?

Li Haixiao did not know what to say. Indeed, this situation had occurred because of him, but he had not expected Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei to end up like this, a change so drastic it could be described as earth-shattering. Li Haixiao went upstairs, leaving Li Jiayuan standing alone in the living room.

Xiao Wei left?

He left me all alone and walked away?

Does he not want me anymore, is that why he left?

Li Jiayuan’s mind went blank, her thoughts echoing with Xiao Wei leaving, going abroad, and finally her tears broke through the dam!

Li Jiayuan rushed upstairs in a hurry. She knew that if she called Xiao Wei, he wouldn’t answer, so she simply decided to send him an email right away!

”Dear husband, please don’t be mad at me anymore, okay? How could you just leave me and our child to go abroad? Don’t you have us in your heart? Where are you? I will come find you, okay?”

No sooner had Li Jiayuan sent the email than Xiao Wei replied, ”I’m sorry, I think we are not compatible. It’s not that I’m heartless, it’s that what you did was too disappointing. I have never regretted falling in love with you, but I regret marrying you, I regret having a child with you. If it were before, I would have treated you with wholehearted devotion for the rest of my life, but now I can’t do that, especially after this incident. Do you know how much your words about the collaborative case hurt me? I could never have imagined that the girl I deeply love would one day treat me like this! Do you understand how I felt then? No, you don’t. If you did, you wouldn’t have treated me that way.”

Looking at Xiao Wei’s reply, Li Jiayuan’s heart ached in spasms, a feeling that made it hard to breathe.

”It’s not like that, I know it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have said those things to you. Please come back, okay? I truly realize my mistake, and I will never do it again. Please don’t leave me!” Now filled with regret, Li Jiayuan finally understood that she could not live without Xiao Wei. She had grown accustomed to his kindness towards her.

”Li Jiayuan, to be honest, no matter how you treat me, I can understand and choose to forgive. But the way you treated Elder Sister Xia, I cannot agree with that. Do you know it was Elder Sister Xia who encouraged me to bravely pursue love, and because of her, I took that step towards you, and for your sake, I went to such lengths to ’whitewash’ myself. I don’t know what you think, maybe in your eyes what you went through in the training camp was torturous, and afterward, whatever you did to me you thought was justified, because you felt that it was the price I owed you for attending the training camp, is that right?”

”It’s not like that, I don’t think so, Xiao Wei, really, it’s not. I was just blinded by interests momentarily, that’s why I did what I did. Please forgive me, I beg you, forgive me and come back to me, let’s go on together, okay?” Li Jiayuan was typing as she cried.

Xiao Wei really wanted to forgive Li Jiayuan, but thinking about what she had done, he couldn’t find any reason to forgive her.

”I think habit is a terrifying thing. Are you sure that what you feel for me is love, not just a habitual dependency?” Xiao Wei asked Li Jiayuan.

Li Jiayuan was struck dumb, how should she respond?

”Xiao Wei, I...”

”See, you can’t even say it. Actually, you know very well, maybe what you feel for me is just dependency, a habit. You are just used to having me by your side, letting you have your way, and maybe your heart never really contained love for me!”

”It’s not like that, please forgive me, just this once, only this one time, I just need this once. Come back, let’s lead a happy life as a family, okay?” Now, Li Jiayuan was at a loss for words. All she could do was to plead with Xiao Wei to forgive her, but how can forgiveness come so easily to a person whose heart has been hurt?

Xiao Wei didn’t want to hear Li Jiayuan’s explanations at all. He quickly typed his reply to Li Jiayuan: ”No need to explain, you should know an explanation is just a cover-up, and a cover-up is the fact. I don’t want to hear your explanations now because they mean nothing to me. Instead of wasting time here talking nonsense with me, you might as well think about how you’re going to get that much-desired collaborative case from me!”

Now Xiao Wei was only disappointed in Li Jiayuan. He did like to forgive Li Jiayuan, but he was also afraid. If he simply forgave her, wouldn’t they just end up the same as they are now?

”Jiayuan, don’t say anything more. I will give careful thought to what you’ve said, and I hope you’ll do the same. Consider whether you’ve done anything wrong. I don’t want you to blame everything on others while thinking it’s their fault. In fact, the real reason often lies within oneself. I’ll let you know when I’ve made up my mind. In the meantime, don’t contact me these next few days. Leave a message if you need anything, and I’ll reply when I see it. I hope that during this time, you won’t do anything else that would make me ’see you in a new light’!”

After replying, Xiao Wei turned off his phone. He felt that it was time to reconsider his relationship with Li Jiayuan. If the relationship was based on interests, it was better not to have it at all. He, Xiao Wei, also had dignity and didn’t need anyone to measure his feelings or his life with money!
