My Alleged Husband

Chapter 118: Chapter 104 Heart-to-Heart Talk_2

Xiao Wei was fuming.

”Are you done arguing?” Xia Jing and Li Jiayuan asked in unison.

”Yes, we’re done.”

”So, who won?”

”I won, I won.” Both of them insisted they had won, and Xia Jing and Li Jiayuan exchanged a smile.

”Wrong, none of you won!”

Ha ha ha!

”By the way, Jiayuan, is your father feeling any better?” Xia Jing asked Li Jiayuan, having heard that Li Haixiao had been suffering from uremia and that Li Jiayuan donated one of her kidneys to save her father.

”Elder Sister Xia, I never expected that after how my father treated you before, and now that he’s sick, you still remember to ask about him. On behalf of my father, I apologize for what he did to you in the past, and please don’t take it to heart!” Li Jiayuan truly hadn’t expected Xia Jing to be so magnanimous. Since her father fell ill, there had been few who inquired about his condition, yet Xia Jing clearly remembered.

”Jiayuan, don’t be like that, we are sisters now. I’m an orphan, and I envy you for having such a loving father. If my dad were still alive, he would surely have cherished me just as much, but I...” Xia Jing’s voice trailed off, becoming melancholic.

”Sister, from now on we must stick together and never abandon each other!”

”Okay.”

”Thanks for your concern. My dad is much better now. He’ll be able to attend the wedding in a few days, so don’t you forget to prepare a big gift for me and your brother-in-law!” Li Jiayuan smiled at Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing.

”Definitely!” Zhang Zhentian said to Li Jiayuan. Xiao Wei gave Zhang Zhentian a rolling eye, wondering why Zhang Zhentian hadn’t complied when he spoke earlier, but as soon as Jiayuan opened her mouth, Zhang Zhentian agreed immediately.

”Alright, you two stop competing, you’d better head back now. I’ll be sure to attend the wedding on time!”

Xiao Wei left the Zhang Family estate with Li Jiayuan. Watching them depart, Zhang Zhentian turned to Xia Jing and said, ”Dear, how could you be like this? I’m your husband; you should focus your attention on me, right?”

”Mr. Zhang Zhentian, may I ask how I have not focused my attention on you?”

”Don’t be angry, don’t be angry, honey, I was wrong. Let’s go, I’ll continue the massage!”

”That’s a great idea, let’s go!”

They headed upstairs to continue the massage.

Walking hand in hand down the street, Xiao Wei noticed that Li Jiayuan had been silent the whole way and asked, ”Jiayuan, what’s wrong? You haven’t said a word this whole way, what are you thinking about?”

”Xiao Wei, why didn’t I realize Elder Sister Xia’s goodness before? She’s so understanding, yet I did so many things to hurt her in the past. Now thinking about it, I feel like I’m not even human. How could I have had the heart to hurt such a kind person?”

”Jiayuan, don’t think like that. What’s more, you didn’t understand her before. The things you did back then were understandable. Elder Sister Xia won’t take it to heart. Instead, you should start thinking about when we can try on the wedding dress. I can hardly wait. I wish I could marry you right now and then we could have a little Jiayuan or a little Xiao Wei together. What do you think?” Xiao Wei fantasized about walking down the red carpet with Li Jiayuan, a long-cherished wish for both of their hearts.

Li Jiayuan suddenly turned to Xiao Wei and said, ”Who wants to have kids with you, aren’t you embarrassed?”

”If you don’t have them with me, who will you have them with?” Xiao Wei knew Li Jiayuan was intentionally teasing him, but he still wanted to play along.

Thinking that Xiao Wei was upset, Li Jiayuan quickly grabbed his hand and said tenderly, ”I’ll have them with you. Besides you, I wouldn’t have them with anyone else!”

”Well, that settles it then, Jiayuan. We must be happy together in the future. I want to ask you, what kind of home do you see as the perfect home in your heart?”

”Hmm... I think, as long as a home has the family members one cares about, that’s enough. Even if it means working hard every day to have food, that’s also happiness. I believe you’ve seen it too, many from the Wealthy Family aren’t happy with their lives. They spend every day figuring out how to win, living calculatively. But I don’t like that kind of life. I think as long as I can let my loved ones live happily, that’s enough. After all, money isn’t everything, although without it, nothing can be done...”

”What you’re saying makes sense, but I want to know, do you care about money?” Xiao Wei asked Li Jiayuan in return.

”It’s not true if I say I don’t care about money, who doesn’t love money? But between money and family, I’d choose family without hesitation. Money, if lost, can be earned again, but once you lose family, you really have nothing left. Do you think I’m right?”

”You’re absolutely right, but could you really give up a life of luxury to live in poverty?”

”I believe I could.”

”If you truly can do that, I believe our life together will be undeniably blissful! Jiayuan, thank you for choosing me, for agreeing to be with me, and for everything you’ve done for me. I love you!”

When Li Jiayuan heard Xiao Wei say ”I love you,” she was truly at a loss for words and could only respond to Xiao Wei with a kiss.
