Chapter 2494: Chapter 2495: Return to Tianyun (61)

Quickly said, ”Don’t dare, don’t dare. It is Second Sister-in-law who should be taking care of us. We are still young, and in the future, if there’s anything done incorrectly, we hope Second Sister-in-law will be lenient.”

Mrs. Cao saw this scene and secretly called out ’not good,’ immediately looking at Tao Chengyin, whose face was indeed particularly unpleasant.

Tao Chengyin didn’t care if Su Xing received the gift prepared by Wan Banyan. He was just upset because while Tao Mingsheng and the others received gifts, his beloved and sickly eldest son was neglected. He felt extremely uncomfortable and thought Wan Banyan was too rude despite being the daughter of the Marquis. Without showing any courtesy, he got up and left, giving Wan Banyan no face.

Wan Banyan watched as Tao Chengyin walked away and was stunned on the spot.

Taoming Hai was so anxious he didn’t know what to do. His wife, confident in her status as the daughter of the Marquis, prepared gifts privately without consulting him. If you’re going to prepare gifts, at least formally give one to Taoming Ye, the eldest brother. Clearly, this was meant to embarrass Taoming Ye, and of course, his father, who loves Taoming Ye dearly, couldn’t stand it.

Mrs. Cao originally thought Wan Banyan was sensible, but now, Wan Banyan’s image as the Marquis’s daughter took a significant hit in her mind. How could she be so poor at socializing—offending the head of the family as soon as she walks through the door!

Su Xing saw Tao Chengyin was so upset he walked away, was slightly stunned, then sighed inwardly, thinking how this father truly cherishes her husband. From now on, she would show this father even more respect.

Seeing Mrs. Cao couldn’t maintain her kindness after Tao Chengyin left and pulling a long face, Su Xing smiled and asked, ”Mother, now that Father has left, should we still eat with the new daughter-in-law?”

Mrs. Cao immediately gritted her teeth, but then quickly put on a kind motherly smile, ”Everyone should go back; we’ll eat later or not at all.”

Although she said so, ’later eating’ didn’t mean the same thing. Normally, on the first day, the first breakfast of the new daughter-in-law, the whole family should eat together. Not eating signifies being unwelcome.

Wan Banyan didn’t expect to be ’unwelcome,’ was stunned for a long time, and when she reacted, she cried with grievance.

Su Xing didn’t care if she cried or not and was already supporting Taoming Ye out of the main hall.

Tao Mingsheng and the others didn’t want to get involved in this mess. As soon as Mrs. Cao told them to leave, they quickly slipped away.

Mrs. Cao was initially very satisfied with having a marquis’s daughter as her daughter-in-law, but now realized the marquis’s daughter was so insensitive. Crying without regard for her image, she couldn’t hold her anger until everyone left. No outsiders were present, so she couldn’t help but scold furiously, ”What are you crying for? It’s all your own doing! When you beat the dog, you must consider the owner’s face. Didn’t Haier tell you his elder brother is the apple of the master’s eye? You embarrass him in public? If you already prepared gifts, what’s wrong with preparing one more for him? The Master never minds as long as we keep face, but you, as soon as you walk in the door, seem afraid others might not know you dislike that pair!”

Wan Banyan had never been scolded before and felt even more aggrieved, crying even harder, even contemplating returning to her maiden home.

Taoming Hai saw this and immediately grabbed Wan Banyan, coaxing her gently and humbly for a long while before Wan Banyan abandoned the thought of going home.

Mrs. Cao was deeply angry earlier, as her own son’s wife offended the family’s patriarch as soon as she entered, which made her so furious she scolded. But seeing Wan Banyan wanted to return to her maiden home—the Marquis’ Mansion, Mrs. Cao immediately woke up to the realization and joined Taoming Hai in comforting her.
