Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2459: Chapter 2460: Return to Tianyun (26)

Su Xing’s expression slightly softened, but she still asked jealously, ”Then you don’t want another one?”

Taoming Ye chuckled inwardly: His wife’s jealousy was really something.

But he gently replied, ”Having Ru Song take care of me is enough.”

”What about Green Orchid?” Su Xing hadn’t forgotten there was another maidservant in his courtyard named Green Orchid, who was quite good-looking.

”It’s always been Ru Song who takes care of me. Green Orchid just does cleaning, running errands, and the like, never attending to me personally.”

Thinking about how this morning Green Orchid, the maidservant, had entered the room but only to tidy up and make the bed, and it was Ru Song who personally attended to Taoming Ye’s washing, Su Xing’s expression finally relaxed completely.

However, Su Xing asked again, ”You’re clearly short a young servant and a maidservant. Didn’t your stepmother send another young servant and maidservant?”

Taoming Ye smiled and replied, ”Stepmother did offer to send more, but I didn’t accept. One young servant and one maidservant are enough for my courtyard.”

Su Xing chuckled, leaned in close to his ear, and whispered, just loud enough for him to hear, ”Your stepmother is just pretending to be nice. You might as well not take any.”

Taoming Ye froze momentarily, then smiled, taking a hand out from under the blanket to gently stroke her smiling face, which was so close to his.

Su Xing immediately blushed, quickly sat upright, and thought how her robust self was being flirted with by her frail husband. Seeing Hong Ye and Ru Song both chuckling secretly, Su Xing blushed even more.

”Quick, tuck your hand back in, or you’ll catch a chill!” Su Xing said irritably, though her words were filled with concern for him.

Taoming Ye obediently tucked his hand back under the covers, though his face still bore a smile.

Seeing he had tucked his hand back, Su Xing tucked the edge of the blanket in for him again, then added in a fierce tone, ”Think of me as a shrew or a rude woman if you want. As long as I’m your wife, don’t even think about having a chambermaid or concubine. I’ve told you now, so don’t blame me for not mentioning it later.”

Under the blanket, his other hand still held hers.

Hearing her words, he felt a bit surprised. Although many women dream of being with their husbands for a lifetime exclusively, very few actually say it out loud and mean it.

Nonetheless, he tightened his grip on her hand under the blanket, ”Rest assured, you haven’t abandoned me despite my condition; whether I’m healthy or sick in the future, I won’t have those thoughts.”

Su Xing immediately beamed, ”You said it, just me from now on, no backing out!”

Ru Song and Hong Ye just thought Su Xing was quite shameless.

But Taoming Ye rather liked his wife, finding her perfect just as she was, and nodded, speaking softly, ”Yes, no backing out, just you.”

Su Xing was even happier.

Taoming Ye gazed at her gently, a different kind of tenderness than he’d shown the day before. It was a tenderness laced with indulgence, a change even Taoming Ye himself hadn’t realized.

But Ru Song noticed Taoming Ye’s demeanor. As Taoming Ye’s trusted young servant and confidant, Ru Song was a bit shocked: Wasn’t his master supposed to go along with Mrs. Cao’s plan, marry into the family, seize control, and then divorce later? But now, it didn’t seem like his master wanted to divorce at all.

Besides, his master had truly consummated the marriage with her last night!

What happened to just putting on a show...

Being personally trained by Taoming Ye and deeply trusted by him, Ru Song naturally had a knack for managing situations, so even though he was shocked inwardly, he didn’t show it at all.
