Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2467: Chapter 2468: Return to Tianyun (34)

”Husband, I should return alone.” Looking at Taoming Ye’s pale complexion, Su Xing was truly worried that something bad might happen to Taoming Ye.

Taoming Ye was feeling particularly unwell but managed to force a gentle smile at Su Xing. ”How could I not accompany you back home? No matter what, I must go with you.”

”But you...” Su Xing was still very worried. He looked as if he could pass away at any moment.

”I’m fine.” Taoming Ye leaned there, gently holding Su Xing’s hand, his tone still very gentle. ”I just can’t endure the jostling. Once the carriage stops, I’ll be fine.”

”Then I’ll have the carriage stop for a moment, and once you’re feeling better, we’ll continue.” Without waiting for Taoming Ye to speak, Su Xing called out to Ru Song to stop the carriage.

Once the carriage stopped, Taoming Ye felt slightly better.

If it weren’t for the fact that Tao Mansion was so far from Huo Mansion, Taoming Ye would have preferred to walk. His fragile body really couldn’t take the jostling, but it was too far, and his body couldn’t withstand walking that distance.

The carriage stopped and started along the way; with Su Xing’s constant anxiety and Taoming Ye’s persistent discomfort, they finally arrived at the Huo Mansion gate just before noon.

Seeing that it was almost noon and with no sign of Su Xing bringing back her husband, Madam Huo came out leaning on her walking stick to check. She planned to wait a bit longer, and if there was still no sign, she would send someone to Tao Mansion to inquire.

Just as Madam Huo stepped out of the General Huo Mansion gates, she saw Su Xing getting down from the carriage and immediately felt joyous.

”Grandmother!” As soon as Su Xing saw Madam Huo, she hurriedly told Ru Song to help Taoming Ye off the carriage and rushed towards Madam Huo.

”Xin’er, my granddaughter!” Madam Huo embraced Su Xing, her old face full of joy and kindness. She truly loved this granddaughter dearly. She only had this one granddaughter. ”Why did you come back at this time? You made Grandmother worry something might have happened to you.”

Su Xing said, ”My husband isn’t well, he can’t handle the jostling, so the carriage stopped several times, and that’s why we arrived at this time.”

”How can your husband be unwell...” In Madam Huo’s eyes, Taoming Hai was as robust as an ox, surely not someone who could be unwell. Feeling puzzled, Madam Huo looked towards Taoming Ye.

As soon as she saw he wasn’t Taoming Hai but rather Taoming Ye, Madam Huo trembled with anger. ”What is going on?!”

Though she said this, judging by Madam Huo’s anger, it was evident that as soon as she saw Taoming Ye, she recognized it was Tao Mansion’s scheme to have Taoming Ye marry her granddaughter instead.

”Grandmother.” Taoming Ye, pale-faced, was supported by Ru Song before Madam Huo, weak yet polite, he greeted Madam Huo.

Su Xing quickly said, ”Grandmother, you care so much about appearances, let’s not talk about this at the door. Let’s go inside and sit down, and I will explain everything clearly to you.”

Once they were inside the General’s Mansion and seated in the front hall, Madam Huo spoke with great vigor, ”Xin’er, no matter what excuse you may have, it was Tao Mansion’s trickery!”

Su Xing promptly bantered while smiling sweetly, ”Grandmother~ I won’t make any florid excuses, but considering you are so clever and wise, you must see that I quite like this husband; please don’t mind it.”

Madam Huo was undeterred by Taoming Ye being present and rebuked, ”His health is so fragile; you may end up a widow at any time. He’s a Commons Son, and you, being the General’s daughter, are not a good match! I don’t agree!”
