Chapter 2453: Chapter 2454: Return to Tianyun (20)

Everyone was looking at Su Xing.

Tao Chengyin was very displeased when he saw Su Xing like this.

Taoming Ye tugged at Su Xing’s sleeve, signaling her to kneel and offer tea.

But Su Xing instead helped Taoming Ye up and said to Tao Chengyin and Mrs. Cao, ”If you want me to offer tea, let’s settle the accounts first!”

”What sort of conduct is this!” Seeing Su Xing’s audacious behavior, Tao Chengyin was extremely dissatisfied.

Su Xing laughed instead of being angry, ”Mr. Tao, I must ask you what sort of conduct this is! Clearly, the marriage certificate has the name of Taoming Hai and me on it, yet it was your eldest son Taoming Ye whom I bowed to during the ceremony. With so many guests present, you took advantage of me not being able to see under the veil and had me bow to your eldest son. Is this truly proper conduct? And you, being an Assistant Minister of Rites, a Third-ranking official, are knowingly violating protocol and breaking the law! If I were to leave now and call upon my grandmother to get the Duke of Liu to petition the Emperor, how do you think the Emperor would deal with you? Hmm? With so many guests as witnesses, you can’t possibly deny your crime!”

Everyone present, including Tao Chengyin, turned pale.

Taoming Ye wasn’t pale like the others out of fear; he was already pale due to his poor health. But his wife, she’s truly formidable. And he liked that.

Su Xing continued, ”The marriage between Taoming Hai and me was arranged by my father and you, Mr. Tao. You promised it yourself, and now you pull such a deceitful trick on me? Mr. Tao, even if you don’t care about my late father’s reputation, at least care about your own. After all, you are a Third-ranking official!”

Tao Chengyin couldn’t bring himself to beg Su Xing.

Instead, Mrs. Cao quickly stood up, walked to Su Xing’s side, held her hand, and smiled kindly, ”You’ve already joined our family, and are now part of the Tao family, we’re all a family now, so let’s be harmonious. Xin’er, calm down, we were indeed wrong, but what’s done is done, you’ve already shared a room with Ye’er. If this gets out of hand, it’ll affect us and won’t be good for you either.”

This Mrs. Cao is truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Su Xing loathed such people, immediately withdrawing her hand with a cold laugh, ”What a ’what’s done is done’! Even if I’ve shared a room with Taoming Ye, so what? The tree lives for its bark, and a person lives for their dignity. I will fight for my dignity! Blame yourselves for bullying me too much!”

Taoming Hai was both frightened and displeased, ”Do you want me to marry you? You’re no longer a virgin...”

”You’re dreaming!” Su Xing immediately spat at him. ”If this marriage wasn’t arranged by my father, I wouldn’t marry you!”

At this moment, Taoming Ye, who wasn’t feeling well, coughed twice before speaking gently to Su Xing, ”Xin’er, considering we’re already husband and wife, let’s just let this matter go.”

Seeing Taoming Ye speak up, Su Xing followed suit and said, ”It can be overlooked, but I have one condition.”

Tao Chengyin immediately asked anxiously, ”What condition?” The Huo family still had the marriage certificate in hand. If this matter is exposed and the Emperor finds out, he is bound to be heavily punished, and might even be dismissed from office.

He initially thought Huo Xiner wouldn’t cause a fuss and would accept the grievance silently, because if this blew up, even if Huo Xiner left the Tao family, whether or not she had shared a room with his eldest son, in the eyes of others, it would be unclear and would make it difficult for her to marry again.

Who knew Huo Xiner would be so fierce, disregarding everything, just wanting to fight for her dignity.
