Chapter 2487: Chapter 2488: Return to Tianyun (54)

”What kind of exam are you taking! Don’t bring shame to the Tao family. While you still can, leave the exam hall and go back!” Taoming Hai said in a disdainful tone towards Su Xing.

Su Xing continued to stretch her muscles and bones, ”How do you know I’ll bring shame?”

Taoming Hai immediately replied, ”With your mediocre skills, you’ll be eliminated just like the other women in the first round!”

Su Xing laughed and said, ”Have you seen my skills, to call them mediocre?”

Taoming Hai was immediately at a loss. He hadn’t seen them. He had heard that she practiced martial arts from a young age, but General Huo passed away ten years ago when she was only eight, so small, so he thought, no matter how well she learned back then, it was only mediocre and unpresentable.

At that moment, a government-affiliated youth who knew Taoming Hai walked over and jokingly asked, ”Ming Hai, do you know this lady? I just saw you two talking.”

Taoming Hai didn’t want to admit Su Xing was his sister-in-law at all.

The more he didn’t want to, the more Su Xing wanted to say it, so she opened her mouth and said, ”I’m his sister-in-law.”

The person immediately opened his mouth in surprise, then laughed and patted Taoming Hai’s shoulder: ”Ming Hai, not bad, your family has two people taking the exam. Poor me, alone trying, wondering if I can pass.”

Taoming Hai didn’t speak, but also didn’t want to appear rude—it might make others think the heir of Tao Mansion lacked manners—so he forced a smile.

When the person left, Taoming Hai lowered his voice and gritted his teeth as he said to Su Xing, ”Just wait to get scolded by father when you go back!”

It was clear he still thought Su Xing would embarrass the Tao family.

Su Xing couldn’t be bothered with Taoming Hai and continued her warm-up without looking at him. Soon the exam would begin, and she had to loosen up to perform well.

Since she decided to take the martial arts exam, she would take it seriously.

This was an examination, not a duel about who could defeat whom. As long as she passed, she’d become a Scholar. While there was a ranking, even reaching first place only meant becoming a Scholar.

But if you came first in the child exam, village exam, and major exam, and the Emperor recognized you as a Top Scholar in the Three Vein Exam, then you’d achieve great honor.

She had inquired and found that her fourth brother An Yiyun was the youngest Top Scholar in history. Even though she was already eighteen and not the youngest, she could still strive for it to see if she could achieve the same honor.

Seeing Taoming Hai was assigned to her group and would be taking the exam with her, Su Xing felt slightly aggrieved. How could a martial arts exam not have any dueling? Otherwise, she’d surely knock down Taoming Hai.

There were ten people in Su Xing’s group. They all took the horse archery, foot archery, pulling the tough bow, spear on horseback, weightlifting...

Taoming Hai hit two out of nine in horse archery, just barely passing; Su Xing hit all nine out of nine, outstanding, leaving not only her group but other competitors in awe. A girl so skilled?!

Watching Su Xing hit all nine compared to his two, Taoming Hai felt deeply uncomfortable.

In foot archery, Su Xing again hit all nine, making everyone envious. This time, Taoming Hai with three out of nine: ”...”

In pulling the bow, Su Xing selected the hardest bow and pulled it fully; Taoming Hai only picked one that met the passing difficulty: ”...”

Even the examiners couldn’t help but whisper, ”This Huo Xiner, truly the daughter of General Huo.”

The exam lasted for three days, with Su Xing excelling in every subject.
