Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2458: Chapter 2459: Return to Tianyun (25)

”That is indeed a bit strange,” Su Xing nodded. ”Didn’t you investigate at the time?”

”My father checked, said my mother’s death was quite normal, no wounds on her body and no signs of poisoning, but she just stopped breathing, gone.” He paused, looking at her with concern and pleading, then said, ”Xin’er, I advise you, be more discreet. I truly fear something will happen to you.”

Su Xing immediately replied, ”Endurance isn’t my style!” Then, softly reassuring, ”Don’t worry about me, I won’t get into trouble. After all, I’m the daughter of a General, and I know Martial Arts. If anything happens to others, it won’t happen to me!”

”Sigh...” Seeing she wouldn’t listen, Taoming Ye could only feign helplessness with a soft sigh, while deciding in his heart: in the future, I’ll send some people to secretly protect my wife. This wife suits my heart so well, I hadn’t anticipated this before, but now that it’s like this, I won’t let anything happen to her.

Su Xing had no idea her husband was actually not simple, she just suddenly asked with a smile, ”Would you like some water?”

Taoming Ye shook his head.

”Have some,” Su Xing maintained her smile.

Taoming Ye couldn’t help but smile too, a tender smile, ”Why insist on me drinking water?”

”I want you to tell me about the big and small matters in this residence, you might get thirsty, have some water first~”

Taoming Ye found it amusing, ”I’ve been convalescing for years, so I’ve always been less concerned about the outside world. As for matters in this residence, Ru Song and Green Orchid know more than I do.”

Ru Song is the Young Servant in Taoming Ye’s courtyard.

Green Orchid is the Maidservant in Taoming Ye’s courtyard.

Only these two serve in Taoming Ye’s courtyard.

”Alright then, I’ll ask them.” As soon as she spoke to Taoming Ye, Su Xing turned and called outside, ”Is Ru Song out there? If so, come in. Hong Ye, you come in too.”

”Yes, young mistress.”

”Yes, Miss.”

Soon, Ru Song and Hong Ye pushed the door open and came in.

After the two greeted Taoming Ye and Su Xing, Hong Ye stood by Su Xing to better receive her instructions.

Su Xing said to Hong Ye, ”I want to ask Ru Song some things, please help me remember in case I forget later, so you can remind me in time.”

”Yes, Miss!”

Seeing Hong Ye respond, Su Xing then asked the Young Servant Ru Song, ”Tell me, what is the difference between the treatment of the legitimate sons and Commons Son in this residence?”

Ru Song respectfully responded, ”Legitimate sons live in places that are twice as large; they have a small kitchen in their courtyard, a cook assigned to them, plus four maidservants and four young servants. Commons Son have only two young servants, two maidservants, no small kitchen, hence no specially assigned cook; legitimate sons get ten tael monthly allowance, Commons Son only five tael...”

Ru Song recounted everything he knew until Su Xing finally asked, ”Since Commons Son are assigned two young servants and two maidservants, why does the eldest son’s courtyard only have one maidservant and one young servant?”

Ru Song said, ”Originally, there was one more maidservant and one more young servant, but that maidservant was a concubine maid, very beautiful. The Second Young Master took a fancy to her and asked the eldest young master for her, and he gave her to him. The young servant had some martial arts skills, and the Second Young Master took a fancy to that too, wanting the young servant as his sparring partner, so he took him too.”

”A chambermaid?” Su Xing’s face darkened. Chambermaids can sleep with the master and may be elevated to concubine...

Seeing Su Xing’s face darken, Taoming Ye knew she cared about this, so he kindly explained, ”Just a girl, the legitimate mother just gave her to me, and I don’t even know her name yet, before my younger brother took her.”
