Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2455: Chapter 2456: Return to Tianyun (22)

Su Xing immediately pretended to be angry and said, ”They made me marry you, a Commons Son. If your status isn’t elevated in this house, I might as well return to my family and ask Duke of Liu for justice!”

Despite speaking disparagingly about Taoming Hai, her husband, Su Xing was repeatedly apologizing in her heart, ”Husband, I’m sorry, please don’t be angry, don’t be sad. I will apologize to you later, and I’ll make sure to apologize sincerely.”

Taoming Ye understood in his heart that Su Xing wasn’t really looking down on him; otherwise, she wouldn’t have stayed with him last night to consummate their marriage. However, on the surface, he still pretended to be somewhat hurt, his gentle eyes dimming.

Seeing Taoming Ye like this, Su Xing felt anxious and uncomfortable, wanting to explain to him right away, but now was not the time.

Tao Chengyin felt uncomfortable seeing Su Xing shouting at his eldest son like that, but then thought, perhaps his eldest son might have a better life in the future because of her behavior.

Thinking this way, Tao Chengyin felt much better and even spoke up, ”Ye’er, from now on your treatment in the house will be the same as Haier’s, and yours, Su Xing, will be the same as the legitimate wife, I promise you this. I hope you will keep your promise and not bring up your marriage to Ye’er again.”

Su Xing replied, ”I always mean what I say. Since I’ve made a promise, I won’t go back on it. But, Tao Master, you didn’t fulfill the promises you made to my father before, so I hope you will truly fulfill the ones you make to me now.”

Tao Chengyin’s face immediately flushed red.

Su Xing ignored Tao Chengyin’s unpleasant expression and cheerfully said to Taoming Ye, ”Husband, now that the accounts are settled, let’s serve tea to mother and father.”

Had he not been able to control himself, Taoming Ye would have burst into laughter. Instead, he gently nodded his head, ”Mm.”

The in-laws Tao Chengyin and Mrs. Cao didn’t really want to drink the daughter-in-law’s tea, but they had no choice but to drink it.

If they didn’t, it would mean not recognizing Huo Xiner as the daughter-in-law, and Huo Xiner might go back to her family to seek out the Duke for some words...

Mrs. Cao certainly didn’t want to give Su Xing a red envelope; the legitimate eldest son had always been a thorn in her side, and now their status in the house was the same as her son’s. However, to maintain her good image as the legitimate mother, she unwillingly handed Su Xing a red envelope as a mother-in-law.

Tao Chengyin also gave a red envelope, one he had prepared long ago, with a touch of compensation. It was quite generous, amounting to a thousand tael.

After serving tea to the in-laws, Su Xing began to meet Taoming Ye’s aunts, uncles, and younger siblings one by one.

Traditionally, they should have eaten a meal together, but now Tao Chengyin, Mrs. Cao, and Taoming Hai were too full of anger to dine together.

Su Xing and Taoming Ye had breakfast with those Commons Brothers and Sisters before returning to their quarters.

As soon as they returned to the room, Su Xing ordered all the servants to retreat, and then she closed the door. After that, she rushed in front of Taoming Ye and grabbed his hand to apologize straightforwardly.

”Husband, I’m sorry. The disparaging words I said earlier were all fake; I truly don’t look down on you. Please don’t be upset or feel hurt, and especially don’t be mad at me. It’s better for your health to stay happy.”

Seeing Su Xing so anxious, Taoming Ye laughed and gently held her hand back, smiling as he said, ”I knew those words weren’t your true feelings.”
