Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2466: Chapter 2467: Return to Tianyun (33)

Taoming Ye didn’t say anything about this, but gently said, ”Will you go to collect it in the future then?”

”I definitely won’t collect it! But this rent collection should be handled by people from our courtyard. I don’t want your things to end up with others taking most of it! Even a small part I’m not happy with; what’s yours is yours!” Su Xing said with a bit of childishness.

Taoming Ye felt his heart soften, his gentle eyes becoming more tender, ”What’s mine is yours too, isn’t it?”

Su Xing immediately smiled sweetly, ”I love hearing that~”

After thinking for a moment, she continued, ”When we get back from visiting, I’ll talk to her about this. Once the rent collection comes back to us, we can have Ru Song do it. Now that you have me, even if you’re used to Ru Song’s service, you don’t need him always around. Your health isn’t good, so it’s better not to tire yourself with these matters. From now on, you have me. When your health improves, you can do whatever you want, and I won’t mind.”

Even though Taoming Ye felt his health wouldn’t improve, he gently and tenderly nodded, ”Okay.” After a pause, ”You should still look after me, I like it when you do.”

Su Xing instantly laughed again, sweetly saying, ”Other men are afraid their wives will be stronger than them, but you don’t seem afraid at all?”

”I’m already a worthless person, who isn’t stronger than me? What is there to be afraid of?”

”You’re not allowed to say you’re worthless!” Su Xing got angry immediately and turned her back on him. It was obvious she was genuinely upset.

Taoming Ye’s heart warmed, realizing she truly cared for him. He rose, walked around the table, sat on the stool next to Su Xing, took her hand and said tenderly, ”Don’t be mad. I won’t say it again. It’s my fault for saying such things and making you angry.”

As he spoke, he started coughing.

Su Xing was initially quite angry, but seeing Taoming Ye coughing, she couldn’t stay angry. She quickly turned around, grabbed his hand, and anxiously asked, ”Weren’t you not coughing today? Why are you coughing again?”

”It’s intermittent. It was like this before. Don’t worry,” Taoming Ye said, his face a little pale.

”You should lie down on the bed for a while.” Without waiting for Taoming Ye to speak, Su Xing supported him to the bed.

Taoming Ye obediently lay down, pulling Su Xing to lie with him. Knowing his weak body, she dared not resist for fear of hurting him, so when Taoming Ye pulled her to lie down, she followed suit.

”Stay with me for a while.” His eyes smiled, his voice gentle as a warm spring breeze, soothing to the heart, making one’s ears feel soft.

”Okay.”

He hesitated for a moment, then reached out and gently held her. She tensed but didn’t resist, instead snuggling closer into his embrace.

His chin rested on the top of her head, and after a long silence, he spoke softly with immense tenderness, ”I won’t do that again, trust me.”

Su Xing’s heart instantly filled with sweetness, nodding in his arms, ”Okay.” She had never met such a gentle person; he was so gentle that she couldn’t bear to speak harshly to him.

...

This day was the day Su Xing returned to her family.

Because Taoming Ye wasn’t in good health, he seldom went out. Even when he did, he never went far, as his body couldn’t handle such travel.

The Tao Mansion and Huo Mansion were quite far from each other, taking over an hour by carriage. Taoming Ye turned pale as paper shortly after getting in the carriage, scaring Su Xing enough that she wanted to turn back to the Tao Mansion.
